Mutilashawn User Info... | what a show!!!! Thanks to all Burnside friends and affiliates!! We (Mito) owe you guys for all the shows! Sad . . . well, more like crushed . . . that the house and all shows will be no more. GOOD TIMES!!! All bands absolutely slayed. Such a good line up that I don't know where to begin. Key points: -Grimlorn is one of the best bands on Vancouver Island. Despite all the tech difficulties, assholes knocking shit over, and a torn kick skin it was fucking incredible . . . and not to mention grim, kvlt, and frost bitten. -Ensign playing Ghardak -Nik Olaz looking exactly like Kurt from Goatsblood -griefer!!!!!!! -Matt's "costume" -Donella's aborted baby Jesus costume -Our crowd response Really I could go on for a long, long time . . . but I won't. THanks again Burnside. - Sun, 31 Oct 2004 11:38am
Nik Olaz User Info... | i didnt look like Kurt from Goatsblood...he looked like me! This was the best show ever at Byrnsyde Kvlt, may it's awesomeness rest in peace. Oh and Greifer...sweet sweet Greifer, you made the evening. - Sun, 31 Oct 2004 12:16pm
Perpetual_Burn User Info... | A Troo sadness as a Great Chapter of Victoria Underground ends. Hails to all the bands and everyone who came out to make it a good time. BVRNSYDE KVLT!!! - Sun, 31 Oct 2004 12:33pm

Masturbating The War God User Info... | Goodtimes indeed, I liked the changed basement too. Thanks for all the good shows there, great place for a show, booze and crazy friends! Matt's costume was great, he spent all year dreaming that bad boy up. - Sun, 31 Oct 2004 3:34pm
Azrael User Info... | thanks to all the bands and the insane crowd at the burnside show! despite my broken bass drum skin and people knocking shit over it was fucking amazing, i want to personally thank jesse anderson (drummer of Mitochondrion) for letting me use his kick after mine popped and also to Shawn (vocals of Mitochondrion) for holding back the crazy motherfuckers trying to knock our shit over!!! Hail the rise of the black dawn! hail black metal! - Sun, 31 Oct 2004 4:32pm
DOOMHAMMER User Info... | My bike got stolen, I puked in someones car, woke up in someone elses clothes at someone elses place and dont remember anything from about midnight on. I live for chaos and 151 gave it to me. - Mon, 1 Nov 2004 3:17pm
Masturbating The War God User Info... | Ahaha, you didn't seem that out of it when I saw you, but what the fuck do I know, I was drunk! - Mon, 1 Nov 2004 4:29pm
moron User Info... | I curse Burnside house and their free band beer. Can you say two day hangover? I thought I was going to puke up my lower intestine yesterday (it certainly tasted like it) and still feel like two bags of crap today. =) Still, a fucking rawking see off for an awesome space. Cheers - Mon, 1 Nov 2004 4:35pm
Ernest Borg Nine User Info... | Thanks for everyone who showed up and didn't steal equipment/$$, "mosh", or smoke crystal meth. Thanks to all the bands for kicking ass except for the Mido, who I hate. One last thank you to all the MDMA and nitrous I was doing. The drugs were very necessary because my star trek character is 14 years old and I was going for realism. Also, I couldn't find any glue. - Mon, 1 Nov 2004 4:38pm
mikegoatsblood User Info... | Lots of fun, too bad about the eviction, also too bad about the crackhead I had to kick out in the morning and that fucking annoying punk kid with the fireman overalls and the mohawk, what an annoying cunt, I thought(and hoped) for sure that Kurt was gonna beat the piss out of him but he was feeling friendly that night, don't know what's up with the Victoria/goatsblood curse , we just can't seem to get through more than two songs without shit getting out of hand, must be y'alls vibe or something, great crowd (well up until it became a skid party), until next time..... - Mon, 1 Nov 2004 7:37pm
OftenBongSoong User Info... | i'm too burned out to even begin to respond to this.. all i'll say is that all the bands that played were amazing that night.. first shows for Grimlorn, Death Chasm, and Hunting Humans.. best sets i've seen by Greifer and Mitochondrion.. and Goatsblood managed to play one of my favorite songs drull.. too bad about the curse.. i really have never seen this band play more than 5 songs.. its always the best 10-20 minuets of the night though! the after jam was also very entertaining.. at that point i was dealing with some incredibly ignorant and stupid shit happening on our front lawn.. but the pictures tell a thousand words.. ps.. mike.. i think figured out what kurt might have been talking about "we've played here 2 mabye 3 times i'm not too sure." - the jam in our basement after you guys played lucky with exhumed?! - Mon, 1 Nov 2004 10:10pm
Curmudgeon Rocker User Info... | Wish I was there. - Mon, 1 Nov 2004 10:14pm
Akylore User Info... | This show rocked too!!! 2 wicked shows in a row!! Can't go wrong!! Grimlorn was RAD, I couldn't get enough of that black-metal misanthropy. Ancting enign probably played their best set, the ambient effects added a lot more to what they do, I really enjoyed it. Mitochondrion played an intense round of bludgeoning deathgrind and the inverted-cross-mounted-candlestick was enough to make me rejoice in devil's night majesty. I remember seeing Greifer at the anti-Valentine's Day show, they really reminded me of Kreuzweg Ost but more Noisy and darker, the post-apocalyptic imagery fir their soundtrack well, I was entranced. Excellent show considering that I was the most stoked (and most pleased) to catch Hunting Humans, they have the death-metal groove that you can't really help but windmill to, fucking great shit! And I got to eat the Fetus of Jesus too...damn, I'm gonna miss that place... - Tue, 2 Nov 2004 12:45am

Curmudgeon Rocker User Info... | M.T.W.G.: I was at the Rat's Nest playing with COH. I was planning to head over afterwards, but I ended up getting the most peculiar intestine-lacerating gut-ache of my entire life - almost considered admitting myself into emer. at the Jubilee but managed instead to make it from my van, to the front door, to a toilet, and then to bed, where I lay on my tummy-tums. Strangley, felt all ducky the next morning. Hope to see you at Dying Fetus anyways. - Wed, 3 Nov 2004 5:40pm

Mordock.the.Benzite User Info... | Saturday was the last night in my old house. It was one of the most disheartening nights of my life...... At about 5ish some people started showing up for the potluck we were having before the show started and I changed into my costume. The bands started at about 6:45. The order was: -Death Chasm(two piece sloppy noise grind) -Hunting Humans(deathmetal) -Acting Ensign(Star Trek:TNG themed stoner/sludge/spacegore) -Griefer(harsh ambient) -Mitochondrion(deathmetal) -Grimlorn(blackmetal) -Goatsblood(sludge.... of the highest caliber) The music was so fucking awesome. Death Chasm played their first show and had a song about our douchebag landlord. Hunting Humans had some sort of military theme that I didn't catch whether was serious or not...I was upstairs or outside most of their set dealing with what was fast turning into a skid party. Goatsblood showed up and Kurt kicked some kid out of the house who was hitting people and trying to start fights with those who were trying to just watch the band(I missed this but was very grateful...if I had to hear that kid scream "MORE VIOLENCE!!!" one more time I probably would have shown him some....which is not like me at all). Acting Ensign played probably their best live set and had specially made pink Star Fleet dress uniforms on....actually they're not strictly about Star Trek...they also incorperate smoking weed and being gay into their music. What a fun band. Griefer was next. Holy fuck. Everytime I see this project I am blown away. Mabey it was just where I was in the room but I could hear Ron's vocals way louder this time(which is what I was hoping for). Very intense musically and visually....they put alot of time and thought into the sound/visual creations. Some people in the crowd may not have liked them.....those people are idiots. Unfortunately I missed most of Mitochondrion dealing with more lame bullshit(people smashing bottles and setting off fireworks in the backyard and a subsequent visit from the cops). Things started really degenerating from here. Missed all of Grimlorn deaing with(or hiding from) the maelstrom of retardedness that the party had turn into. Made it back downstairs for Goatsblood. Is there a better live band??? It just too bad that every time I see them it never lasts very long. They did play Drull though which I had been waiting to hear live for a very long time. Awesome band and totally rad dudes. I was really drunk(etc.) at this point and was ill prepared to deal with some of the lame people in my house. I have no idea why but this was probably the worst fucking crowd we ever had come to a show at our house. I was almost speechless with the amount of stupid shit that seemed to be taking place everywhere around me....it really was overwhelming. I spent the most of the rest of the night trying to keeps tabs on a couple of sketchy people who seemed like they were in the mood for breaking shit or stealing shit or fighting people. Damage: -Hole in bathroom door -Front door kicked and broken -I can't remember what else????I'm sure there was more -house generally trashed Stolen: -a bunch of money for the out of town bands -a $160 mic that was rented for the show -my wallet(containing a whopping $4 in change...no credit card...all of my ID...and sadly 3 GWAR and 2 ISIS tickets...one of each that were mine and the rest I was holding for friends.) For me Burnside totally died that night. Not just in the sense that we were evicted and would no longer be living in the house....but also the desire to continue doing what we had been doing in regards to putting on shows. My intention had been to get another place with some of the others from Burnside and resume having a place for awesome underground bands to play....but it really doesn't seem worth it. There are too many fucking idiots in this city who come out to shows these days(another example would be the JBCC windows getting smashed) for it to be worth any effort. Thank you a million times over to all the bands who played this night and any night at Burnside...you are fucking awesome. We never did get to handing out the door prizes as promised due to how out of hand everything seemed to get so I will do that now(though the actual prizes were left at the house.) -Most grim corpsepaint: MYSELF \m/ :) -Best pseudo celeb costume: Nick as Kurt of course(the rest of Goatsblood seemed to get a kick out of it as well. -Spot the Narc:Hmmmmm...could it have been the couple of 40 year old dudes with moustaches roaming around.....well...mabey that is too obvious -Dumbest conversation I had all night: was with members of the Enchanted Fairies....congrats guys.... a night of total retardedness and you've won distinction. -Best.Fucking.Costume: Often Bong as Frenchie Calzone -Most disappointingly not in attendence:Doug -The Anti-costume award: Dark....jesus fuck. Thanks to everybody who wasn't a total asshole. ....somebody please give back my wallet. - Thu, 4 Nov 2004 2:29am
DOOMHAMMER User Info... | Yeah when I went back for my bike I was pretty surprised by the amount of damage. Im pro chaos, pro destruction, but I wouldnt have gone that far myself and im a fucking moron. I dont care about my bike, but the fact that someone would take the band money and wallet bother me the most. The gwar tickets. Man, I dont hate anyone enough to take a gwar ticket from them. I dunno, I spent the last part of the night as a fucking drunk fat idiot, but even I have enough common sense not to do some of that shit. My last memories of that place are for the best, but going back after I wasnt expecting what I ended up seeing. - Thu, 4 Nov 2004 4:27am
moron User Info... | It's always been that way man. Bathrooms used to get trashed at all ages shows regularly (the Big Fernwood had no shows for a long time because of this), there always plenty of dorks out there. It is sad, but you basically have to assume the worst when you are putting these sorts of things on - lock up all stuff, make sure someone's job at all times is to watch the gear, limit access to areas you do not want people to be in and be willing to refuse people you don't want there (which can be difficult I know). Most of the gig houses I have been too did not allow wide open access to the upstairs and this radically reduces your exposure, you just have to be nazi about it is all. For what it's worth though, Burnside was something special. Cheers - Thu, 4 Nov 2004 9:32am
Masturbating The War God User Info... | Doug you pussy! Maybe it was the booze, or the weed, but the house didn't seem too bad when I left. Though the sink upstairs I remember being clogged with cigarette butts in it. Also there where a lot of people I didn't recognize... That's so shitty about the wallet and property. I hope you get it back. - Thu, 4 Nov 2004 10:36am
Mutilashawn User Info... | Man from what I collected it's these younger punk bastards who like to fuck things up. Aren't they supposed to fuck shit up for the "system" not relatively like-minded people putting on a basically free DIY show. It always ruins a night when people lack respect like this. This was the underground of Victoria; if even that can't be respected then what can? Mayhem: Sure Stealing: Lame. Fuck those assholes. - Thu, 4 Nov 2004 11:58am
Dr.DoomXXX User Info... | That fireman mohawk punk (Dave) knocked over my 5' tall girlfriend like 3 times. I tried to explain to him that he was being a retard but there's no reasoning with that kid. He just kept on saying; "no man, hurting people is cool." I was gonna return the favor but I had like 3 tree hugging hippies getting in the way trying to make themselves feel like they spreading peace and love and doing the world a favor. I'm sure they would have felt differently if it had happend to their girlfriends. ( not that those smelly soap-a-phobes could atract any females). - Thu, 4 Nov 2004 6:22pm
Whore from GRIMLORN User Info... | that fireman punk was a fucking bitch he was kocking everyone over i was very tempted to smash him in the fucking head with my guitar during our set im sorry to hear about all the damage and stole shit man hope you get it back - Thu, 4 Nov 2004 11:10pm
OftenBongSoong User Info... | goddam!!..i've had a grimlorn song stuck in my head for 5 days now.. fucking awsome m/ the lameness of that night cannot shrowd my memory of the awsomeness of the bands.. the mic never turned up, mordoks wallet is still missing, i did however find some of the door money stashed away under some garbage.. i only ended up loosing the cost of that sm57 and whatever happens with the slumlord and the damage (most likely nothing). i think i'll take the time to hand out a few imaginary door prizes now.. most easily mis-interpretted costume: samara (cats ass) hehe hashest scumlord prize: cazamir santarosa costume i laughed the most when i saw: shandy in a one peice jean skirt... fucking wywkd. gotto go to work.. cheers and good day. - Fri, 5 Nov 2004 8:26am
brad User Info... | ok...seeing as how i'm old and only have the past to live for now...i'd like to see a list of all the bands that played the Burnside basement. If my failing memory serves me correctly, I seem to recall the first show to consist of BuryWhatsDead Iskra and..... guys, help me out here...i know i've seen and played some wicked shows at that house with some great friendly crowds. - Sat, 6 Nov 2004 10:52am
Mordock.the.Benzite User Info... | Sicarii(from Olympia) was the other band that played at the first Burnside house show. - Sat, 6 Nov 2004 12:21pm
Acting Ensign Wesley Crusher User Info... | "It was a rad party up until all the idiots showed up" - most people at burnside 0ct 30th 2004. I am going to miss the burnside house very much. Using our basement as a venue for underground music was so fucking awesome (like beating the end boss or gaining a level, yeah, that awesome). Each show was like watching a ninja flipping out killing a bunch of pirates all the while ripping off an amazing guitar solo and scoring a hot babes phone number ( http://www.realultimatepower.net/ ), or like rolling a natural 20 (double damage), you know what i mean, paying for a 8th and getting a 1/2 ounce, like playing Counter Strike for 4 hours and coming out on top. Pure goodness. It gave me a feeling that few things in this piece of "civilization" can (fuck you god). Good roommates, good cats, good music, good times. Fuck you landlord (lord of shittyness), may you die sooner than later. Now i would like to take the time extend a special shit covered "FUCK YOU" to all the pieces of shits that acted like the huge pieces of shit that they are, durning the last show. You suck guys, right on. I would say, "you know who you are" but they are most likey too stupid (having brains made of shit and all) to realize their profoundly shitty conduct. But i would also like to thank and give the bands that played a big gay hug. Fucking awesome music that night, contrasting the loser party up stairs. Goatsblood - awesomeness Grimlorn - fuck yeah Griefer - will you marry me? Mido - i didn't know kirt played with you guys Death Chasm - best first set ever AE - who does your wardrobe? Hunting Humans - pro military? I love all the bands that played with all of my body (including my pee pee) burnside house forever! - Sat, 6 Nov 2004 2:55pm

DOOMHAMMER User Info... | Yeah its stupid these forums dont allow you to do or [img][/img] Should just get phpnuke (its only a 10 dollar donation, has skins, messaging, way better features). Hell I would even be willing to help do a Livevic skin and help customize it / set it up. Maybe. - Sun, 7 Nov 2004 6:31pm
moron User Info... | PHPnuke / Postnuke is a fucking horrible codebase, absolute nightmare internally with nearly weekly security vulnerabilties (everything from SQL injection to cross site scripting to remote code execution). Don't wish that shit on anybody. =) Cheers - Sun, 7 Nov 2004 9:19pm
DOOMHAMMER User Info... | phpnuke isnt that bad, atleast the newer version isnt. the older ones were a piece of shit, but as long as you know what you are doing its not too bad. regardless, its better than this. even vbulliten would be an incredible improvement. - Sun, 7 Nov 2004 10:29pm
Sati User Info... | Interesting thread.. always sucks to lose a great party house.. 9 of those shows were listed here. If anyone wants to list the others, or put up something in the profile about the place, just ask for access or use the anonymous feature. Then it'll be in the archives. If any of you are serious about helping out these sites with this message board stuff, contact Nev. People are having a serious aversion to using the LMV board. Nev's got a lot on his plate these days, but part of the hesitation is that he built these, so he has full control over how they work.. we like to do fancy things like have shared sections between sites. Would that be possible using the other kinds? Would he still be able to play with the code and build new features in? And I think there are plans for poster/image galleries in the works. - Mon, 8 Nov 2004 10:56am
DOOMHAMMER User Info... | Its all in http://phpnuke.org/modules.php?name=PHP-Nuke_HOWTO And I assumed it was because he wrote this forum, he was sticking with it merely because he wrote it. Even though its not as good (albeit good for him doing it) it was more of a 'I dont want to say I wasted my time' thing. And yeah you whould be able to share stuff. Shared sections is hardly fancy, plus the options and ability to customize would vastly increased. I think this forum would be incredibly more used if it merely acted more as a forum rather than a messageboard. - Mon, 8 Nov 2004 11:52am
Son of Mogh User Info... | tara nicholas left her wallet at the house, so if anyone knows her tell her to email me to get it back (as we no longer live there and our piece of shit ex-landlord would most likely yell at her if she dropped by). - Mon, 8 Nov 2004 8:38pm
Sati User Info... | Hey Doomhammer, I was talking with Nev last night and he said that if we switched to php boards, people would have to make up new user names and passwords in order to use each different sites. Right now all our stuff is shared, so if you're on one, you're on them all. Also, whats the difference between a forum and a message board? - Thu, 11 Nov 2004 6:44pm
DesTroyeR User Info... | I just moved to town and I saw the last two shows at burnside. RAD! I had a homestead on the prairies were we had bands play at large parties.
