k8 User Info... | My first time to The Fifty-Fifty, cool little venue with a cute little stage. Good turnout, very fun show. There was some rotting seaweed or something that smelled really nasty, though. The Raygun - Key heavy five piece indie band. Very energetic, strong stage presence, really got the crowd going. Lots of catchy & fun songs (Makeup! Rock, & roll, rock rock, & roll) & an interesting emphasis on bass/keys without a lot of guitar going on. They even got an encore. I'd definitely go see this band again. Cadeaux - Very danceable indie rock from Vancouver (I think) with two female vocals, alternating between lead and backup. I don't know if they could've balanced the mics better or something, because sometimes the backing vocals were louder than the lead vocals but aside from that all sounded good. Lots of crowd interaction, they really got the crowd dancing & seemed to have a lot of fun on stage. Good drumming & a very skilled bassist, too. Immaculate Machine - Their first show home from a six month stay in Toronto. They were amazing, played a new song, a Beach Boys cover (which was really well executed) & some old favourites. Very skilled musicians, and some of the best vocalists in Victoria. The crowd didn't really get into them as much as the other two bands, & the second half of their set didn't seem as good as the first half, but they still played an awesome set nonetheless. One of my favourite local bands. - Sat, 23 Oct 2004 7:35pm | ||
