NoK Ian User Info... | Well, this was my band's first time playing the Gary Oak Room, and it lived up to its reputation as a very cool place to play. All the other bands rocked, the crowd was energetic, we sold out all our CDs, no appreciable hooliganism...all in all a good night. Thanks to Nick for putting on this show, hope to play the venue again in the future. Cheers, ~Ian - Sun, 17 Oct 2004 3:01am

k8 User Info... | That was a good show. Fatal Error - Weren't at their best. Really could've used some monitors as the whole not being able to hear themselves thing was causing them troubles. Good band, though. 8 Bit Dream - First time seeing them & they didn't disappoint. Their drummer is awesome, as is their bassist & guitarist. Their vocalist wasn't so great & for the most part he just stood their with hand in pocket, but a very good and overall. Combat Wombat - They were pretty good. Hard to get into, once again, probably because of the lack of songs on the offbeat. Very strong horns section, though. Jym Formally James - They were okay, I liked their cover of The Sweater Song & the Powerpuff Girls theme. Didn't really like their originals too much, though. Next Of Kin - Solid, professional sounding rock band. Somewhat generic but good nonetheless. The Bloodwarmers - The highlight of the night despite their lead vocalist not being there. Lots of fun, the tromboner is a crazy dancer. One of the better ska bands in town. - Sun, 17 Oct 2004 1:31pm
darcy User Info... | Fatal Error - they didn't really play very well this time around. their cover of internet porn was pretty frakin' rad though, and i know they'll play better at the next show. 8 Bit Dream - first time i heard them, and wow. these guys are pretty awesome. especially the bass and the drums. man, those guys rocked out. i thought their lead singer wasn't really into it, he just stayed in one spot with one hand down in his pocket. Combat Wombat - a talented bunch of dudes and dudettes, but could have had some more ska tunes (like nazi party with bingo, or whatever it's called) nice horns, but could have been used better. maybe a few more people could have shouted 'pick it up'. hope to see these guys again Jym Formally James - it was pretty good, nothing to special though. it wasn't bad or anything, i just couldn't get into it. just wasn't for me i suppose. Next Of Kin - i thought these guys were a really happy sounding pop/rock band. nice solos and all. the crowd (along with myself) seemed to get into them. could have had a less profesional approach (whatever that means) The Bloodwarmers - best band of the night. even without a member they still rocked my socks off. i bought the album afterwards, and i still remember how awesome they played that night. - Sun, 17 Oct 2004 7:28pm
x Buddy x User Info... | all i have to say about this show is , you know your scene is in trouble when they start modeling the security after the S.S. - Sun, 17 Oct 2004 11:32pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | whatchu sayin 'bout our lead singer?! - Mon, 18 Oct 2004 2:04am
Mutilashawn User Info... | no dude I know exactly what he's talking about. which is why I left as soon as possible. I was asked to do security for this show by my little brother's friend, who was putting the whole thing on. I get there and there are already 4 skids who are doing security. The venue had provided red tshirts that said "security" on them for the 4 already there. Then these assholes thought it was a great idea to wrap the red tshirts around their upper arms (direct quote) "SS style". Also wearing large leather coats . . . all in all, very Naziesque. And they marched around the building "looking" for trouble I guess. Yeah it was fucked. So I ducked outta there without saying a word after my little bro's friend's bands were finished. In the end it was a good way to see the show for free, but fucking eh . . . 5 bouncers for an all ages ska show? - Mon, 18 Oct 2004 12:17pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | oh shit. hahaha. weak. - Mon, 18 Oct 2004 1:08pm
Livevic Scott User Info... | actually 5 people working "security" is pretty standard, you have to have a few people trying to keep the noise levels down outside as well as keeping the rampant drinking and littering to a minimum in order to keep damage deposits. I agree the whole SS thing is a little disturbing though =) - Mon, 18 Oct 2004 2:49pm
harry User Info... | 8 bit dream was fun. It was rad to see the reincarnation of Johnny Ramone aswell as the rest of that band. The rest of the sets i lost track of, not really my cup of tea. Those nazi fucks were not needed ither. - Tue, 19 Oct 2004 1:54pm
brad User Info... | hmm...this show made me realize how old i am getting. I thought next of kin were really quite good for what they do..and the bloodwarmers played a decent set...(Um..ALL their current members were their that night, Johnny IS the lead singer and guitarist...you just couldn't hear the vox all that well). I gotta say though...these guys really need a set full of new songs...still playing stuff from four years ago...but whatever. the beers at the Carriage House afterwards was the highlight for me! - Tue, 19 Oct 2004 7:05pm
