cooper User Info... | Right off the bat I will say that I have found my new favorite band in Victoria and that is Ghost of Science. I was completely blown away by these guys. Amazing songwriting & musicianship from everyone in the group, such nice balance between all instruments, and extremely professional on stage. I'll add that this was probably the best sound I've ever heard in a small venue, and both the band and the soundguy deserve credit for that. I bought their CD and it hasn't left my CD player since that night. If only there were as many songs as were played at the show...Awesome job guys, and I can't wait for the next show. Black Tie Social once again impressed me big time. The mix of music genres is so nice to hear, especially considering the age of the band members. I am always impressed when I see a vocal mic in front of every member. That says something about the talent in this group. I really dig the keyboard & sax. A few criticisms I will point out: -bass player's backing vocals were way too loud most of the time, but that could be the fault of the sound guy and not her. -maybe should have ended the set with the 2nd last song (the 'River' one...). It really got the crowd going and upped the energy in the place big time, and I think as an opening band, part of your job should be to get the crowd pumped up for the headlining band. While the last song was great, it really seemed to being the energy down, although the violin bow and Aidan's candy-eating were sweet. Awesome show to both of the bands. Can't wait for the Black Tie CD in the fall. piece - Tue, 10 Aug 2004 7:16pm
[+} User Info... | ..and we love you too paul. ghost of science are fantastic. see them before it's too late and they all leave. i don't know what they are doing, playing with us, they should be out at huge venues. or at least bigger venues than victoria can offer. every time i get to hear them, it's like listening to their recordings.. LIVE. they sound just as good live; and that's a hard thing to find in bands these days. on our part, we were horrible guests, and in retrospect should have played a song we have been working out (more upbeat!), but we are young and fickle and still don't know these things. we want very much to present four new songs at a show near YOU. so continue to support the lovely ghost of science and the demi-lovely black tie social. thank you. - Wed, 11 Aug 2004 10:14pm
[+} User Info... | i also noticed the bass player (ms. kaitie sly) had over-the-top loud vocals. the mix was slightly strange, but totally clear. good sound is so hard to come by these days. so we were glad for that! perhaps we ask too much in having all voices chiming? - Wed, 11 Aug 2004 10:20pm
