i thought the show rocked! crowd was a little small, but at least the bands didnt seem to mind, and put on good sets anyways

I was in the opening band, so no comment

The second band i only caught a bit of there set (went to get some dinner), and they seemed good, as well as a young band, which is nice to see them actually playing in the music scene at that age

Third band rocked. I hadnt heard these guys play yet, but i love there set. They were tight, and had a crazzy fat sound. totally a kick ass band

Vincat, again a band i had never seen, other than the practice i jammed with them. A totally differnt style of music, but they really got the crowd going. Good luck at the festival up island

And Finally, the hoochy girls.
I love the hoochies, every time i see them. Every time they amaize me more. Great set, good on the singer too, for getting the crowd really really going. Really engaging the crowd in the music, which not too many bands seem to do these days, which is a pity.

Good work Ruby, hope you made some dough, and good luckk on the trip. Kick ass show - Sun, 8 Aug 2004 1:43pm

not to shabby, not too shabby at all. tis a shame more people didn't drop by. I didn't really hear the first few bands. Vin Cat was rocking like always, but had some sound problems going on. Hoochies never fail to put on a fun show. - Sun, 8 Aug 2004 1:44pm

Well,
I just wanna say thanks to Ruby! you were awsome for putting everything together. Everyone there seemed pleased and i thought it was well organized.
Cool to see local bands playing. I want to give a shout to this cool kid named Dave. He was really supportive and was rockin out too. Also wanna say thanks to matty who gave Live in Stereo a rad review.
I had a blast playing the show. It was good to see all the youth out there. I also wanna say that the Live In stereo T-shirt that was won during a dance off by a cute teenage gal, is a hot ass shirt.
well thanks for the support, everyone really enjoyed themselves. - Sun, 8 Aug 2004 5:02pm

1st band (i didn't catch the name): well it sounded like they could have used a bit more practice, but i like their choices of songs to cover (though oasis covers are getting a little over-done)

fatal error: their sound has gotten a lot better since the last time i saw them. some songs seemed kinda repetative, but it's all in good fun i suppose. i think these guys should try their hand at hardcore.

liveinstereo: though they did have a good energy and stage presence, i thought that their songs could have had a heavier sound to them. that's just my musical taste though.

vincat: again, probably just me, but i don't really like the style of music. kris does have a nice voice, and the band is pretty good and playing their instruments. i liked it when kris did a pretty wacko solo on his guitar (reminded me a lot of johnny greenwood's solo during go to sleep when i went to see radiohead).

hoochy girls: it was cool to see crispy at the drums again. they played a lot of their older songs and that was cool (i was very happy that they played blind thief). as always the stage energy was off the roof. - Sun, 8 Aug 2004 7:57pm

This show was chockful of technical difficulties for my band (Vin Cat) but it wasnt too much of a bust all in all. Any show with The Hoochy Girls cant be a bullshit waist of time.

1st Band-Well...thats what happens when you throw together a band without practising. Taking into mind the little amount of practise I am impressed.

Fatal Error-Its all fun. I can't take this band seriously from a musical standpoint but you guys are alot of fun and its a good time listening to you. Keep doing what your doing, kids like to dance when they are smiling.

LIVEINSTEREO- You know I know very little about this style of music. I dont even know if you spell it Scremo or Screamo.

We were next and fucked up more than ever, even practises. But we had fun doing it. It was practise for the stamp river music festival next weekend. If anyones there check us out.

The Hoochy Girls-I'm in love with the hoochy girls even the bajillionth time i've seen them. These guys should be our local pride. - Sun, 8 Aug 2004 11:21pm

Hey about my last post. I read it over once i posted and what I said about fatal error sounded like an insult but it was not. What I meant is when I'm listening to you I just laugh alot and don't ever listen to the actual music. I didnt mean oyu suck at your instruments or anything although it DID sound like i was saying that. I'm sorry, I'll go back to grade school. - Mon, 9 Aug 2004 12:50am

i kinda liked the first band, mostly the dropkick murphys cover they played, cause that song was stuck in my head when i went to that show. fatal error wasnt bad. i thought the 3rd band kinda sucked, but meh. vin cat were really cool, really got the crowd moving despite a bunch of equipment problems, and the hoochys were fucking amazing as usual, very good band - Mon, 9 Aug 2004 4:20am

First band: hi, not bad for little or no practice. I liked rubys voice. It reminded me of steevie nicks. Cool stuff. I am sorry but I hated the murphies cover, I was so pumped when you started then the chorus kicked in and I became sad. But I danced anyways so good job!

Second band: hi, I am so impressed that you have a band together at your age because its taken me like 400 years to get mine together. I like your wacky punk its fun to dance to. Good job you little rug rats you

Third band: not really my style of music, but! I am a musician so I can definitely appreciate your musical talents. The beginning of the first song was pretty. Good job.

Forth band: you guys fucking suck ass! I hate you so much! I really want you to die in a big pit of fire, and then get attacked by fire bats while burning in the fire, then the fire bats would shoot liquid acid candy at you, right in your eyes, then the bats would eat your eyes because they are attracted to the liquid acid candy.
Just kidding folks.
Aside from the sound quality being a big giant shit taco, I think we did ok.

Fifth band: who, what, the hoochie girls. I love the hoochie girls they rock! I mean ska! Wait, would I say they rock or they ska? Because theyre a ska band so really I cant say they rock, because technically they dont, they ska anyways, I give the hoochie girls the best over all performance award.
Because they could play horribly and I d still have fun at their shows.
You know, its sort of like watching a bunch of down syndrum seals with horns and guitars.

Anyways who cares what anyone says on this review thing, we are all just nobodies when it all comes down to it.

Crystal you fucker. How can anyone review after you make us sound so insignificant. I hope you burn in a pit of fire and then get attacked by fire bats but I hope they bite you alot and light really little fires all over you at a rate that you cant get them out cause new ones keep popping up. Except then go to the hospital and get better.

i was the bass player in the first band. i just wanted to say that this "dropkick murphys cover" we played is in fact not a murphys song at all, instead a band called buck o' nine were the kiddies who wrote it......plus (in the original) when was the last time the murphys sounded like that and used ska style horns? if they did right the original i am sorry for trying to correct you but i do think it is just a BO9 song.

thanks for listening to me rant.

That was a cool show.
The first band were pretty good, I hope they keep it up & I can see them improving a lot.

Fatal Error were awesome, very funny lyrics. Goofy punk

I'm not a big fan of the style of music Liveinstereo played, but yeah, they seemed fairly professional & there was some cool hand percussion.

Vin Cat were funky. Kris has a cool voice. The drummer looked bored, heh.

The Hoochy Girls were great (as usual.) Unfortunately there wasn't very much skanking going on but it was cool seeing Crispy drum with them again. & they played Dinosaurs & LFB & Roadkill-o-rama & Storytime so I am happy.

Excellent show. - Tue, 10 Aug 2004 6:07pm

i liked the show..there weren't a lot of people there but that made it fun as well, more interaction with the bands for the crowd. i got there partway thru the first band and enjoyed it, wonderwall was good to hear!
i didnt hear much of the 2nd band because i went for coffee, sorry guys.
I liked the third band, and the fourth (kris your little bro wouldn't dance with alix and i!!), and it's good to see some new bands workin on stuff and playing gigs! :)
also, the hoochies were awesome as usual - i liked cam being up on the basketball hoop, that was pretty impressive that he got up there.
all in all, good show y'all! - Thu, 12 Aug 2004 1:58pm
