Message Board > Show Reviews > Keewye, Faces of Black, & broken @ The Cambie/Nanaimo |
F.O.B User Info... | What an excellent night. GirlPower at its utmost. The Cambie knows how to put on a gig! All girls were let in for free so that made it even better... Up first were Keewye from Victoria. These guys rocked with extra props to Jenny on bass. If you like it heavy & tight, check this band out the next time you hear about them. The singer's range is amazing. Next was us, Faces of Black. No moshers but it was fun to play to a larger crowd. The set went well. Thanks to Mya from broken for bringing out the Nanaimo crew. Last, was broken from Nanaimo. Chaotic, screamo metalcore. Crazy crazy, I don't know what to say except that they are heavy and grooving all at once. Bring it on....More GirlPower to come August 7th at Logan's. See you all there. Splatter (female-fronted punk-metal from Vancouver) will be there so don't miss out. - Sat, 10 Jul 2004 12:29pm
Aeron Zero User Info... | Last night's show was soooo much fun!! Keewye were super groovy rock with good vocals, great guitar faces, and a dancing bass player. Really impressed by Faces of Black...Great stoner metal in the vein of Kyuss with an incredible female vocalist. And it was our (broken's) best performance ever, by far.. Hope for a repeat soon!! - Sat, 10 Jul 2004 1:34pm
mya User Info... | wow... can you say, rocking show? keewye kicked ass.. not only were they a very tight group but their guitarist had THE best "i hate everything" metal expression i've seen yet! that was the first time that i'd seen them and i look forward to seeing them again. faces of black just sound better everytime i hear them! the vocals were so driven with emotion that i wanted to hear every word. can't wait to play with them again on august 7th!! Our set, i do agree with aeron, was the best we've ever played... we broke everything, including my tooth (well, just a chip off of it) and all in all everything was SMASHING!! oh, and in contradiction to aeron's posted "meatcore" picture, I, being the vocals for broken, am an avid vegan/buddhist/animal rights kinda girl and in no way contribute my music to be labeled as "meatcore". just thought i'd mention that! - Sun, 11 Jul 2004 1:56am
