Message Board > Show Reviews > ALLFATHER/AK-47/MACHINE GUN KELLY/the MOUSETRAP - Garry Oak Room July 3rd |
J. Peatman User Info... | An excellent show despite the modest turnout. The 60+ who were there had a great time I think, and personally I really enjoyed this night for its variety in bands/genres. And it worked. The MOUSETRAP was described to me as similar to Atari Teenage Riot. To me it sounded more like retro electro/industrial with quite an eighties vibe. I loved it. The sombre vocals reminded me of Joy Division and really complimented the music. Mr. Bradley had better have a demo! It was the first time that I saw Machine Gun Kelly, who brought solid and faster melodic hardcore, with very energetic drums pounding away. Great job. The vocals really go with the music. AK-47's performance rocked, I'm so impressed with the huge drive they have. I wonder if they stomp and jump around just as much when jamming, I wouldn't be surprised. Too bad that the lead vocals didn't come through loud enough. The more reggae-oriented Fire is one of my favorites among the explosion of fast raw punk. Since I play second guitar for Allfather I am somewhat biased ofcourse, but I think we put down a pretty good and tight performance. However I believe mr. "The Allfather" Hagberg forgot about his dedication of a song to the late Marlon Brando hehe. - Sun, 4 Jul 2004 12:37pm
Brian VIHC User Info... | Brad gave me the willies. (That's a compliment) I like how fast Machine Gun Kelly are. Short, loud and to the point is how I like my punk. - Sun, 4 Jul 2004 3:21pm
hunter User Info... | mousetrap wasnt what I expected at all but was amazing in its own semi twisted way and AK-47 ripped ass as usual(ripping ass is a good thing) - Sun, 4 Jul 2004 3:42pm
darcy User Info... | mousetrap was pretty good. though not my favourite choice in music, it was still pretty nice to get into. mgk (who'm i have only seen about 5 other times) possibly played thier best show, i really like it. ak put on a great show and obviously had fun on stage (floor?). and, since i'm not a fan of the hard'er metal) i wasn't a huge fan of allfather, but they did put on a show. i was a bit sad that not so many people came out, or that not so many people moshed. maybe next time. - Sun, 4 Jul 2004 4:26pm
Jodi User Info... | I've got to hand it to brad, I would never have the guts to get up there by myself and do that. It was great though, excellent voice, very entertaining. I enjoyed AK 47's set more than I have before. They never let me down though, amazing band. By far my favorite of the night. Allfather and MGK put on excellent sets. a good show overall. - Sun, 4 Jul 2004 5:11pm
Masturbating The War God User Info... | "You can't see California without Marlon Brando's eyes." True words from the best metal poets ever. Oh! And I had a good time at the show! Thanks Linds/Brendan and all the bands! And to those that came out! - Sun, 4 Jul 2004 8:25pm
