Sati User Info... | Something messed up for me, and I couldn't attend this show. I really wanted to. Anyone see it? - Sat, 3 Jul 2004 11:15am
Bo-dom User Info... | Im pretty sure the guys from pariah saw it - Mon, 5 Jul 2004 8:02pm
Jesse User Info... | Pariah slayed, good to see some of there new material. Can't wait to play with em on the 17th, its going to fucking rule! didn't stick around for too long afterwards... The smoke was great though! - Tue, 6 Jul 2004 12:17pm
KK Downingsyndrome User Info... | I came in halfway through Pariah's set, walked directly to the front of the stage, and didn't leave until they were done. Very impressive and quite impressed to see something other than Grind, Crust, Doom, or Black metal (nothing wrong with said genres. Variety is the spice of life, n'es pas?) Nice leads, too. I didn't know Jonathan Davies moved to the Island (*poke*). Cradle To Grave (or Cradle 2 Grave, as I've seen them advertised on more than a few occasions) did exactly what they've always made me and (more than a few) others do. Leave the bar. I can't give you a review of Zuckuss (see above), but I recall something a very hung over Jesse Burch said to me. "This show will either fucking rule or fuck ass." Judging by the general enthusiasm of the crowd that night, my vote goes towards the latter. Shame on the scene this week. I went to 3 great shows and not a single one was well attended. What, are we not breaking our balls well enough for you? Am I missing something here? We have fantastic talent in our backyard playing to 30 people and Pantera fills the PNE? fuck ass. - Tue, 6 Jul 2004 2:29pm
Sati User Info... | Well KK, at least TWO of those shows were not well promoted by all the concerned parties. And thats what it takes. I blame the musicians just as much as the actual promoters. And on this site, I blame the fans as well! We've all got pull here, if we choose to use it. I'm not trying to ride those musicians in particular, since I know lots of people are into those bands. Its just frustrating to me how some people don't get up off their lazy asses and take part. - Wed, 7 Jul 2004 12:35am
Danny Silverfish User Info... | How should bands get on the promoting wagon if they are from Victoria and they are doing the show in Vancouver? - Wed, 7 Jul 2004 9:24am
Sati User Info... | I was hoping some musicians would answer. sigh. Lots of Victoria bands do a good job. Pariah seemed to. Ask them. The only thing that wasn't in their favor this time was that both bands they played with had too many shows going on this month - so they were busy pushing other gigs instead. I figure ask the local bands you're playing with, and the promoter. Figure out if the promoter has a good track record and will actually be doing anything to promote you, and then take up any slack. Hit message boards. Let any other Vancouver bands you like know that you'll be showing up, and ask them for tips. Some bands will handbill for out of town bands - just trade favors. Ask friends if they have any hook ups in Van who'd help you out. Or just ask out on this board, and you'll find out who your friends are! Its just like life.. don't be shy, just get out and party with people. This whole site's about making sure everyone can get ahold of one another. Act like you're somebody, and take advantage of it. People will catch on! ... unless you just plain suck, of course. - Thu, 8 Jul 2004 2:06pm
Dd[]Sanger User Info... | Or you could pay off the poster mafia... - Thu, 8 Jul 2004 2:11pm
KK downingsyndrome User Info... | I've postered for damn near every show I've done with Tard. Our posters are gone the next day. I blame either the Poster Mafia or the fact that our posters are just so damn funny - Thu, 8 Jul 2004 4:04pm
SOS Jesse User Info... | Yeah I've found that you have to be ultra agressive with postering in Vancouver cause the rule of thumb seems to be that it will be torn down or covered within a day. I generally walk all over the city putting posters everywhere and then do it all again a few days later. Giving out handbills at shows seems to be effective... - Sat, 10 Jul 2004 10:55am
