alain User Info... | The first band was a band called Deluxe from Vancouver. They won the contest "Summer of Judgement" that Finger Eleven put on. Tight band, people seemed to get into it a fair amount. My band went to see the show together, but we were of course separated when Finger Eleven started playing. They played an amazing set, although I naturally would have loved an even longer set. Greatest stage presence I've seen from any band, although I might be challenged on that statement. I was right up at the front, and this was my first time being right up in there at a show, and man, talk about a room of people pushing to get to the front eh? Great show - Wed, 23 Jun 2004 1:34pm
k8 User Info... | That was an okay show. We got our tickets for about $15 each so I figure it was worth it, maybe not worth $30 per ticket but we got them for cheap so can't complain. Deluxe were about as friendly as radio friendly rock gets. I didn't like them that much. They didn't really have any character, and their songs all sounded the same. They seemed pretty professional, though. Get a record company to pump an image into them and they might be the next big Vancouver band. Now, I was pretty disappointed No Motiv didn't play, as it was advertised that they were also opening. Oh well. Finger Eleven were pretty good. I couldn't really see them, but from what I did see the guitarist was going wild, & I heard the drummer was pretty entertaining to watch, too. The mosh pit was probably the tamest and most courteous one I had been in, it was really odd. Everyone was apologizing for bumping into me or elbowing me (when it was half my fault for my face being there in the first place) and stuff like that. Eventually I found a small circle pit at the back and had a bit of a mosh. Anyways, they sounded excellent. They didn't play Stay In Shadow, which was a let down, nor did they play First Time & I don't remember if they played Drag You Down. They played quite a few songs that I didn't know, and then Absent Elements & One Thing. And Good Times was the encore. And then it ended. At 10:30, a 3 hour show... I found the show to be a mediocre one, very short, and I was really surprised that they left out a couple of their older hits and their new single, but I still had fun, & it sounds like everyone else had a great time. I'd go see them again for $15. - Wed, 23 Jun 2004 2:22pm
NoK Ian User Info... | Finger Eleven rocked as usual, I've seen them a few times...gotta say the show last year at Legends was way better though. They should have played First Time and Bones and Joints, might have got the crowd going a little bit more. Quite disappointed that No Motiv didn't play, especially since I was one of the suckers that bought a ticket for full price. The opening act was very bland in my opinion, not much stage presence and nothing stood out about them musically. Beat sitting at home watching TV, but I agree it was a mediocre show overall. - Wed, 23 Jun 2004 4:44pm
Jason User Info... | finger eleven? you people actually admit to listening to them? So when u bye their album do they insert a dildo in your ass in-store or do you do it when you get home? - Wed, 23 Jun 2004 5:17pm
Ian User Info... | This was a pretty good show. I didn't really enjoy Deluxe. They just didn't do it for me. Good musicians, but the stuff sounded so generic and formulated. It's a subjective thing, just not for me. Finger Eleven were tight and amazingly entertaining. Each person in the band is clearly doing what he wants, from the bassist who stayed in the zone the whole time (and it was clearly a good zone - the playing was spot on), to the guitarist who rarely wore the guitar. I found the sound was pretty rough. The bass was muddy (too much through the subs), and the mids were lost (sound guy must be used to cranking bass and treble on everything). As a result, the vocals got lost, and the bass wasn't heard, rather felt. The kick drum lost a lot of definition too. Everything could be heard, but it could have been WAY better. Crowd was wierd. Pushing's normal, but dude beside me at the front head butted a guy in front of him, starting a fight, which wasn't cool. Another thing that was pretty lame was girls who decided to crowd surf with HEELS ON! I got a heel in the back of the head, which is never pleasant. Think it through before you wear heels to a show like this! Overall, a fun night. I was drenched at the end. Security was cool for letting people crowd surf. - Wed, 23 Jun 2004 8:24pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | I wonder why they didn't hold that show at Legends. Was the club packed?!? - Wed, 23 Jun 2004 10:55pm
ScottL User Info... | To pull off an all-ager at legends, it probably would have been an afternoon show like when they played in 2002. - Wed, 23 Jun 2004 10:59pm
mikesaturday User Info... | but.. there are only ten fingers. i mean, the next digit on the human body, male atleast is.. ohmygodohmygod. this band is named after A PENIS! A SEXUAL REPRODUCTIVE ORGAN! and diguised in such a witty way. no wonder they can charge $30 for tickets. but i wonder, was the name PENIS already taken? did they think, "we should call the band PENIS" and someone looked it up on the internet and was like, "it's taken, but i can google 'other words for penis' and see what it comes up with.." it's too bad they couldn't just sue and get the name Penis. - Thu, 24 Jun 2004 10:22am

ScottL User Info... | The name arose from old lyrics from the song Thin Spirits. Something to do with something. I dunno, i don't think its a sexual refrence. - Thu, 24 Jun 2004 10:03pm
