darcy User Info... | the show was ok. most of the bands weren't my type of music (my type being the good type, and everyone elses type being the wrong type). but the hoochies were very good. wish they could have played a longer set though. - Sun, 23 May 2004 6:48am
Rex User Info... | I thought that, all in all, it was a very good show. There coulda been more people but i guess the turnout was decent considerin the lack of promotion. JACOB'S FALL: These guys were definitely not what i was expecting out of an opening act at a Garry Oak Room all ager. Very cool sound that somewhat reminded me of Lythic Blue (at least on the vocalist's part). The songs were good but seemed a little too formulated (all the same) to me. THE CAUSE: This band was... well i can't think of any other words to describe them than "bloody fucking terrible". Their assault on my eardrums caused great discomfort and forced me to leave during their set. Never again will i see them. THE HABITAT: Wow! That's all i can say really. These guys announced their end last nite and went out with a bang. This was by far their best show, ever. I used to be in this band and didn't really think we were anything great but i was absolutely floored by their performance yesterday. ONE HANDED PRAYER: Unfortunately i missed this set but i've seen them a coupla times before and they've never failed to impress me before. THE HOOCHY GIRLS: I thought it was a little strange for them to have Pat on bass last nite. He's a musical genius though as he proved by learning the songs on the spot and improvising some really tight bass lines. The new drummer is really something too, far better than the last. Anyways, Hoochy put on, as they always do, a really tight and fun set. Definitely one of my favourite bands in Victoria. Good show. Good luck to all the bands that played and props to the habitat for a great last show. Good luck with your future endeavours guys. :) - Sun, 23 May 2004 6:57am
Ian User Info... | I really enjoyed playing the show last night. Every band seemed to have fun and all of them played well. One complaint I had was regarding some organization problems. I did not appreciate having the lights flicked on before our last song and being kicked offstage. I have no personal problems with Mark from The Cause for doing that, after all he was just making sure the Hoochy's had time to play. I do have a problem with the fact that the earlier bands (Jacob's Fall in particular) were playing such long sets, and weren't always very efficient about setup/takedown. I understand that it's fun to play and nobody wants to stop once they've started, but bands need to respect time constraints and that other bands are waiting to play too. Like I said, I'm not slandering anybody or holding any personal issues with anybody either, but I think this needed to be pointed out. I really didn't like being kicked off. We didn't even get to promote the upcoming band, which didn't make us look good either. I can't imagine Mark from The Cause would feel very good about having to hurry bands along.s Anyway, here are my thoughts on the show otherwise: Jacob's Fall: Played a very good set. I was quite impressed with their drummer. Everybody played very well, though as mentioned above, the set was long, and was started late, resulting in it cutting into setup/takedown time and stage time for other bands. Other than that oversight, a professional and clean band. The Cause: Very unique and cool sound. I can see why it's not everybody's idea of good music. However, I really enjoyed the rhythmic sound, and in particular the stage energy of the vocalist/bassist. I laughed at the fact that he hardly held onto his bass. It's good to see people having so much fun on stage! The bleeding guitarist was really cool too. :D The Habitat: Good set you guys. You have a young sound, due mostly to the fact that it IS punk, and that's kinda the idea. Your bassist was active and played some creative stuff. He has a distinctive sound which I kinda like. Vocals and guitar were creative. You guys have come a LONG way! Filled the room very well, gave the crowd what they wanted. One Handed Prayer: This is my band. I play bass for this band. Hoochy Girls: WOW! I love hearing these guys play. I didn't know the bassist was a substitute, but man he played well. The horns were great, and of course the costumes made me laugh just like every other time I've seen them play. An excellent, fun way to end the evening. Thanks to all who came out! - Sun, 23 May 2004 7:22am
Jacob's Fall User Info... | I had a lot of fun at the show. All the bands played well and the crowd was a good one too. We are sorry for taking up more time than some bands, but we were not told that we were doing so and were not given a time limit. Also, we did start on time, as we were told not to start at 6:30 but rather 7. Anyway, I enjoyed the show and hope the time can be forgiven. Thank you to all who came, all the bands who performed and all who helped out. - Sun, 23 May 2004 9:16am
Blackjack User Info... | Hey great show, I was disappointed that more people didn't turn up, but that's the way it is. I missed Jacob's Fall but I hear they did a good job. The Cause were what I like to see in bands around town. Their music was very different from what you usually see, and their stage presence more than made up for their few mistakes. Good stuff, and I'm really looking forward to seeing these guys again. Missed the Habitat...Zone pizza... One Handed Prayer definitely played their best set last night, and it's an understatement to say I'm sad to see Jared leave for Vancouver. I've watched these guys play since they began, and they've really grown as a group of performers. I hope the new vocalist can come close to filling the void Jared will leave behind. The Hoochies lived up to their name last night; that is, getting really wasted, and dancing like girls. They kicked major skankster ass as usual, and I enjoyed it as much as ever. Possibly one of the greatest bands around town just due to their amazing ability to move the crowd. Can't wait to see these guys play Ska Fest again. - Sun, 23 May 2004 10:12am
Skinny User Info... | Great show last night, very impressed. JACOB'S FALL: I don't really know what it is, but I've liked these guys from the first time I saw them, and I liked em again last night. While it may not be the most unique music, it's solid, and always good to listen to. The drummer's a blast to watch. All in all, VERY well done, and props to the guys for sticking around and supporting the rest of the bands. THE CAUSE: Gotta be honest, didn't really like them. I didn't think they were disturbingly terrible, I just don't particularly care for the music. Good energy though, and very unique, fun to watch show. THE HABITAT: Didn't hear much because I was outside playing soccer. From what little I DID hear though, I would have to agree with Ian in his statement saying they've come a long way. ONE HANDED PRAYER: Always a good show. I'm at my happiest when the bass player can make my chest cavity vibrate. I was impressed by everyone last night. The band just won't be the same without Jared. THE HOOCHY GIRLS: Holy crap. First things first, they are far better soccer players than one would imagine. Good game, pleasure playing with you boys. And of course, they ruled on stage too. These guys have the ability to get a room moving like I've never seen in another local band. They have fun, the crowd has fun, and it's just good times. One final note: kinda disappointed that OHP and the Hoochies were cut off. - Sun, 23 May 2004 3:01pm
Habitat Ian User Info... | Hey, thanks to everyone who came out to the show. Hoochy and One Handed Prayer were the standout performances for me, but all bands did well. Since this was probably our last all-ager in Victoria, we'd just like to say it has been an honour playing for all you guys in Victoria. I have to say we probably started off playing shows far too early then we should of, but i think we have indeed come a long way. It's sad to see things split ways now, just when we feel like we're getting the momentum back, but sometimes you just gotta let things go. Thank you to everyone who has ever listened to our music or come out to a show. Also to everyone who has ever supported us and everyone who has hated us. And please, everyone keep going to shows and support the Victoria music scene. There's a lot of exciting bands coming out from Vic, and we need to show them all the support we have. Cheers, Ian - Mon, 24 May 2004 11:06am
Jared User Info... | Hey, wicked show to everyone. I guess I was a little upset with the cut off, but it had to be done. Did anyone happen to pick up a black sabian cymbal case, if so let me know. Thank you all for a wicked last show. I can honestly say that the applause was probably one of the best times of my life. I hope the best for all of you in victoria. Drink choclate milk, go for walks, find love, and get your own ringtones. -Jared - Mon, 24 May 2004 8:06pm
THe Cause User Info... | Jared, Whats going on. I have your symbols, email the band and we'll negotiate a price for there safe return. Then go to the corner of Douglas and Fort, the pay phone will ring twice at 4:40 am, but don't pick it up. Beside the phone you will find three water jugs. A four leter jug, a three leter jug, and a empty ten leter jug. Pour exactly five leters into the ten leter jug. Once that is accomplished walk, don't run, to the Ferry terminal and place the five leters of water on the number fifteen baggage car, the driver of the baggage car will then give you a key to one of the terinals 24-hour lockers, find the locker and insert the key to open. Take the symbols out of the locker, and place the money in the locker. Calmly lock the locker and head on your way. Or just call Mark and we'll meet somewhere and give them back to you. Whatever is easier. Thanks to everyone who supported our show, to Rex we hope your ear drums recover, so we can assult them again. Talk to you later, James. - Tue, 25 May 2004 4:03am

I tried the number listed on live victoria, which when I called it said it was unavailable (it could be telus they're pretty dumb). I've also left a message on someones cell phone who I think was in the cause, but havent received any message back. Since they replied in the show reveiws before, I'm giving it another chance, but if any of you know any way I can contact them, please send it my way.
