pjacobsen User Info... | Exhumed were freakin incredible, brutal as fuck. Much better than last time I saw them in Nanaimo. Their session drummer was amazing and a soild guy too. Goatsblood were awesome as always ever tho they only played for 10 minutes. Too bad mikes bass broke cause i would have been stoked to see more! Overall a really surprisingly good turnout fer a monday night. Thanks to everyone who came out. - Wed, 28 Apr 2004 1:39pm
Perpetual_Burn User Info... | My neck still aches from Headbanging!!! I was quite pleased with the setlist as well, Playing tracks from "Gore Metal" and even from the 95 demo!! Great show and I hope to see them again in the future. - Wed, 28 Apr 2004 1:47pm
Dd[]Sanger User Info... | ALLFATHER: Kicked some extreme ass for sure! Their sound was awesome, best I have ever heard it, especially those fuckin drums! Flawless, brutal and definately an extreme set! Way to represent Victoria boys!!!! \m/ GOATSBLOOD: I have to say I was quite disappointed with these guys.. I have heard so meny great words about them, I can't help but wonder if something fucked up with their equipment or something because personally *I was high as all hell but* all I remember of their set was a short display of a series of high pitched effects tearing the crowd's ear drums apart while their drummer went off a little, and then a smashing of some of their equipment before going off stage, which was cool in itself, but for the ferry ride here and the band before Exhumed, I was hoping to see a set's worth of extreme metal... EXHUMED: Where to begin, as expexted, these guys tore shit right the fuck up!!! The sound was killer and their set list was awesome! I wasn't expecting to hear all the oldies we were treated to, and it was nice to hear these guys have a definate interest in returning!! Awesome show, and Fucking A to whoever set that shit up!!! - Wed, 28 Apr 2004 3:13pm
Curmudgeon Rocker User Info... | I guess I shoulda put my observations here instead of under "Exhumed Roll Call" thread in Music Chitchat. Giggity giggity! Allll riiight! - Wed, 28 Apr 2004 7:06pm
Masturbating The War God User Info... | Hmm, I can piece together different parts of the evening, I know I headbanged to Exhumed, my fucking neck is still killing me, I was still in the game for allfather, great times as usual. I totally missed out on GB because I Was outside.... I have a great time! I owe you $10 mike!! - Wed, 28 Apr 2004 7:35pm
Bryn User Info... | This was such a rad metal show! Allfather played great. It's been a long time since I'd seen them. They have improved a lot for both their music and presentation. They are adding a bit more melodic and crowd pleasing elements to their sound. It's way less of a blur than it used to be, but just as brutal as ever! They had a great set up with torches, a big runes banner behind them, and flags of snarling dog heads. They drank their beer out of huge horns with runes on them! Goatsblood were totally loud and brutal. Their drum kit was so loud. They didn't have anything damping the bass drums... so loud. Before they were even into their second song, they started destroying the entire stage, knocking over drums, making everything feedback, pouring beer over the electronics on their bass, throwing these sheets of metal over top of the drum kit, and finally putting fans next to the guitar pickups so they would make this cyclic feedback after they abandoned the stage. The soundman didn't know what to do, so he put the Kill Allen Wrench CD on, and it came on perfectly on the part where Allen Wrench is making the crank calls about El Duce and K. Cobain. A 10 minute set of absolute mayhem. As if things couldn't get better, Exhumed came on and totally fucking slayed. This is such an awesome live band!! Totally heavy and brutal. The drummer played so hard that he split one of his cymbals in half! My favorite parts were when the bassist did his solo while shottgunning a beer and when they said "This next one is about rekindling an old flame... actually, about taking a blowtorch to your girlfriend... it's called (*death metal voice*) FORGED IN FLAMES." Class acts and quality entertainers all around! - Wed, 28 Apr 2004 8:51pm
ML7Mike User Info... | Exhumed sound 10x better than they did in Nanaimo a few years back.. crushing, and an amazing drummer sitting in for them. - Wed, 28 Apr 2004 9:39pm
Mutilashawn User Info... | I could write a fucking novel on why this was the best show I've ever been to in Victoria. Allfather = amazing, Goatsblood = hilarious and brilliant, and Exhumed showed me again why they are one of my favourite bands: showmanship, musical precision, entertaining, and fucking straight up guys. Drummer from Uphill Battle was incredible . . . . and Matt Harvey still owes me $2. - Thu, 29 Apr 2004 8:26am
ML7Mike User Info... | still, doesnt come close to topping Cephalic Carnage's drummer, that guy was beyond amazing.. - Thu, 29 Apr 2004 8:47am
jay brown User Info... | I totally agree, and did you notice the drummer from Exhumed was wearing a Cephalic Carnage shirt. - Thu, 29 Apr 2004 9:15am
SentencedtoBurn User Info... | Saw this package w/ Sinned instead of Allfather in Vancouver the night before. Can't say I was big on any of the bands aside from Sinned...I will never forgive myself for being too lazy to go that Cephalic show. Agiel too! And it was what, like a 6 dollar cover that night?! I suck. - Thu, 29 Apr 2004 9:25am
ML7Mike User Info... | yah twas cheap. December were no slouches either ( in fact they crushed ) - Thu, 29 Apr 2004 9:40am
Akylore User Info... | Yes, EXHUMED hailed mighty!!! I saw them at the Nanaimo show; and to be honest with you, I wasn't sure if the abscence of Bud's puking and a new drummer was gonna afftect it, but fuck, despite the absence of on-stage gore-effects, this show slayed. I grabbed the bigger side of the cymbal and got it signed, I'm such a nerd.... Allfather hailed once again, although their sound at the previous Lucky Bar show I thought was better (the best I've ever seen them) mind you Jasper wasn't there again so that might have affected it a bit...but still good all around, I love those cold, black-metal-ish riffs.... - Thu, 29 Apr 2004 9:55am
METALNECK User Info... | Yeah good show except I thought goatsblood sucked. - Sat, 1 May 2004 5:33am
Perpetual_Burn User Info... | My favourate part of the show(besides the bands) was some chick who kept grabbing my ass to keep from being pulled into the mosh pit. You know who you are, so call me! - Sat, 1 May 2004 12:58pm
Mr. Hell User Info... | Exhumed sucked ass in Nanaimo when I saw them. Sounds like they are worth catching next time. - Sun, 2 May 2004 10:48am
Rollerballs User Info... | GOATSBLOOD slayed, the other bands where pretty good too. - Sun, 2 May 2004 1:09pm
Curmudgeon Rocker User Info... | Exhumed sucked ass in Nanaimo? How so? I wasn't there, so I'm curious to know why. - Mon, 3 May 2004 7:48pm
A. Angus User Info... | I wouldn't go as far as to say Exhumed "sucked ass" in Nanaimo; they still put on a solid set of chaotic death metal. It's just that the small crowd was kind of dull, and the sound wasn't great. At the Lucky show the sound was much better, the vicious crowd was great, and that drummer was amazing, so it overshadowed the Nanaimo show for sure. - Tue, 4 May 2004 3:22am
ML7Mike User Info... | I think the biggest problem with Nanaimo was the sound.. it sounded quite muddy and blurry up there. Combined with Exhumed natural style of blurriness, that didnt go too well. Also, their drummer wasnt as good, and if I remember correctly , they didnt have the same lead guitarist either cuz I dont remember nearly as many blistering Carcass'ian style leads.. nd their bassist, although he puked all over the stage, well hey, he didnt do a bass solo either! hehe.. The new guy seemed like a much better bassist. - Tue, 4 May 2004 5:29am
A. Angus User Info... | Yes, the seperate bass solo and drum solo added a cool "Manowar-esque" feel to the show, which more metal bands need to do, ha ha. - Tue, 4 May 2004 12:01pm
Legion User Info... | That bass solo was lame. Wanabe Cliff Burton bullshit. Eat shit and die. - Wed, 5 May 2004 1:52pm
Curmudgeon Rocker User Info... | At least he was drinking beer while soloing - that's cool. - Thu, 6 May 2004 1:02pm
