Often Bong Soong User Info... | wow.. what a fun show. thanks to everybody who came out and supported the bands (paying cover, cooking food, rocking out!) .. everbody was respectful of the space and we managed to pay for pa and give goatsblood enough money to cover travel/food.. thanks to the other bands for once again playing for free. i've seen iskra a bunch of times and they always rock... still a little work to be done with their new drummer jessy but the parts they did get together sounded really good. vocals sounded very brutal last night. my first time seeing peruke and they were fukcing great.. really dig the vocalists high screams!! not enough doug vocals though... fuck you to the guitar player for being 10 times better than i'll ever be. Goatsblood were fucking amazing.. i can't beleive the rythyms their drummer can produce on just 3 drums and 2 cymbols.. what can i say... i love this band.. their live show is mabye the best around.. and their new record drull is seriously wykyd!! Another succesful show in the basement. thanks to everybody who helped out and came again.. \m/ see you at exhumed. - Sun, 11 Apr 2004 6:11pm
Ernest Borg Nine User Info... | We went all the way to 11:40 before there were any extreme displays of maleness and friendly football tackles. I consider that a success in itself. Also, Acting Ensign suck. - Sun, 11 Apr 2004 8:26pm
Curmudgeon Rocker User Info... | No - Acting Ensign are perfectly fine, senor, por favor. - Sun, 11 Apr 2004 10:03pm
KnifeGhost User Info... | Compromise.... Acting Ensign is brutal, except for their bass player..... Skinny little prick..... Iskra was fucking hott, though.... But is it true they're skinheads? I left half way through Peruke..... They were damn fine, but Colin Sic was dragging me out.... My way-indie friend didn't want to leave, though, and she's decided to go Metal..... - Sun, 11 Apr 2004 10:23pm
merghutroid User Info... | cool party all around. Missed the first band. Thought Iskra and Peruke were really cool! Goatsblood, well they were good but just seems to me they were out of tune and really disharmonic. maybe thats what they want, but I dont see the appeal. maybe someone can enlighten me? Personally I like my metal tight and in tune. But some of my freinds were saying this is one of the best bands to ever come out of BC? No way! I think that their skill level is too low for that. - Mon, 12 Apr 2004 11:16am
Wesley Crusher User Info... | jayson.. if you listen to their recorded material (drull can be found on teh internet) you'll see that that is actually the way the music is supposed to sound.. with all the guitars tuned to drop a sharp.. things tend to get a little soupy (they didn't sound out of tune to me). i think that they are one of the best bands in bc easily.. great songwriting...great live show... and some very technical riffs. too bad the noise station wasn't a little louder. thats waht happens when a band plays on all borowwed equipment. - Mon, 12 Apr 2004 11:43am
Mutilashawn User Info... | One of the most fun shows I've been to in ages. Good people, damn good food (thanks again for that!!!), and fucking killer bands!!!! AE and Iskra were damn good as usual - can't really say anything that I haven't already said in the past, except that Iskra's new drummer is awesome. Peruke made me cry with joy and were so brutal that I felt it neccesary to bleed profusely (not kidding at all). I hope they play MUCH more in the future. And isn't Cruiser supposed to join? Goatsblood was so damn cool. THe whole sludge stoner sound really isn't my thing, but holy shit these guys are great. The drummer absolutely raped what little he had to work with. A band with this much energy and presence makes me forget anything like out of tuneness or sloppiness. So much fun. - Mon, 12 Apr 2004 11:47am
Curmudgeon Rocker User Info... | I've heard Iskra are racist skinheads because they're fans of Werner Klemperer. And Sir Lawrence Olivier in "Marathon Man". Is this true? - Mon, 12 Apr 2004 8:02pm
Bo-dom User Info... | My thoughts on the evening (bands): Acting Ensign was really cool, like their style. ISKRA I liked a lot, thought their new drummer was really good; didn't like the vocals though. I dont see the need for 2 of em especially when they sound pretty much the same. PERUKE were awesome, seen these guys a few times, they sounded the best this time! I left during Goatsblood because they sounded absolutely horrible. Thanks! - Mon, 12 Apr 2004 11:19pm
Ernest Borg Nine User Info... | That's not why they are skinheads. They're skinheads because they listen to Vaugner. - Tue, 13 Apr 2004 9:41am
Phil Anselmo User Info... | yeah the singers from iskra suck. they don't sound enough like me. hey maybe i should join iskra!!! - Tue, 13 Apr 2004 10:09am
Dull Bat'leth User Info... | BEST SHOW EVER. I can't say it enough, GOATSBLOOD are one of the best bands around! Nice, quiet guys untill they get on stage and destroy my world as i know it! Fuck they blow me away everytime i see them, thanks guys, i hope you had as much fun as i did. Peruke, it was my first time seeing them and WILL NOT be my last! Peruke totally slayed me, i love victoria underground grind! No ego's = awesome, its a fact. Thank you Doug for continually playing the Burnside house for free, i love you. Please play again and headline so the idiots at the Burnside house can pay you. Iskra was rad too, i don't care if they thought they played like shit, new drummer, so of coarse there were rocky parts, they still ruled, so fuck you wolf! I didn't really like Acting Ensign though, aside from the crap music the so poorly shitted out, they were too macho for my tastes. - Tue, 13 Apr 2004 11:09am
Son of Mogh User Info... | anyone got pic's of the show they can send me? - Tue, 13 Apr 2004 11:18am
ML7Mike User Info... | Well, I missed everyone except Goatsblood! Blame it on my ride.. Anyhow, Goatsblood were worth checking out and I got to see how handsome Blair really is in real life. But I missed out on heckling the Peruke singer which is my true calling in life.. - Tue, 13 Apr 2004 11:55am
ML7Mike User Info... | "Peruke totally slayed me, i love victoria underground grind! No ego's = awesome" You feed that porkchop vokillist enough Whiskey and Lucky Lager and you'll see the truth in no time, probably in some weird Linda Blair type voice.. - Tue, 13 Apr 2004 11:59am
wolf User Info... | Just to clarify(so scott and shawn don't get depressed or somthing, they have feelings you know), Iskra needed a second vocalist because we average 300 words per songs and its quite difficult to say em all without passing out. Here is an example: Threat Inflation US imperial systems and the corporate media Inflating threats posed by imperial targets Attacking hapless countries is good for big business Imperial managers issue warnings to misinform the public. Media is complicit, forming a poisoned view of the world Creating mass attention towards otherwise ignored countries Escalated lies, pressuring the public Manufacturing fanaticism to annihilate the enemy Remember Guatemala, Nicaragua, Kosovo The public cheered for victory, a triumph for democracy Foreign economic resources the US needed to control Mass slaughtering hidden from the eye of the world. US forces in the region, proxy armies invade Yet the media is unwilling to speak of the US as a threat The immanent victim awaits its own destruction Any actions to defend itself are portrayed as aggression. The official view-the medias view Unidirectional information, whitewashing the US We live under control, a totalitarian society disguised as the good guy, disguised as democracy. Individual words such as threat or aggression Are never applied to our leaders language or behavior The resultants of a media ideologically subservient The resultants of a media serving a state terrorist agenda. And the bodies are hidden from the camera to create the illusion Surgical strikes, Collateral damage; all these linguistic diversions Descend into the inferno of a world ruled by hypocritical psychopaths Ethnic slaughter, endless war, perpetual damnation. The year 2003; another violent firestorm US officials convey Iraq as a threat to our existence A country starved to death by US sanctions Iraq poses no threat, its children dying by the millions. The United Snakes of Amerikkka and their dwindling alliance Are the real masters and distributors of Mass Destructive Weapons With their lapdog media, theyll rain a storm of lies The worlds leading terrorist state, no retribution for their crimes. Will we openly analyze, will we openly criticize? To ensure our friends and families dont fall victim to their lies. Take the time to analyze, take the time to criticize To ensure our friends and families dont fall victim to their lies. Despite all that is portrayed on your local TV news We are witnessing a major change in the populations attitude. Resisting the virtual parliament of the private sector Turning the tide against the Western aggressor. Protest around the world with no historical precedent Populations beginning to see the true meaning of the system Anti-Invasion resolution by 50 City Councils of the USA Anti-Invasion protests by millions around the globe today. Public opposition-80% in Spain and Italy regardless of state allegiance, people thinking for themselves. Public opposition-90% in Britain and Portugal People waking up, taking back their minds. Canaduh regards the US as the greatest threat to world peace When people search out information, awareness will increase. Millions joining the ranks of those opposing globalization Developing pressure against United States Aggression. There were a few people wondering what we sing about, so there you go. Most heard critique: "I can't hear a fucking word you're saying so whats the point" well, thats our style so......nobody has to like it. Eventually we will introduce our songs with a line or two in order to clarify meaning. anyway, if one listens to our mp3z, at our little site there, you will hear that scott and shawn are very distinct; shawn has a very punctuated machine gun attack whereas scott draws his lines out accross the sections. thanks everyone for the support. All of the bands were really great, basements are always the best. Nothing like a community dinner to create a freindly atmosphere. Hats off to the Margo and the boyz at the station. - Tue, 13 Apr 2004 2:30pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | this was such a great show. acting ensign stepped up a notch with the samples and everything, complete with the uniforms. i must say that song about Worf is my fav. Iskra are such a good band. Great music, lyrics that actually count, and put on a fairly energetic show. The guitarist Nick slammed into me as i remember, it hurt. The two vocalists thing is great, Scott has more of a gurrgling growl, and shawn has a harsh, cold one, the only thing i think they need to do is go nuts more as vocalists...like i dunno move around the area...but i can see how maybe they couldnt because of the space in that basement Peruke got a billion times better (not to say that they were bad at all before, "Please...Mess With Texas" rules) with their new vocalist. Even though i was hideously drunk during this i thought that Mike sounded like the guy from Incantation. I still do. Dougs a mad man as well, i cant wait to see these guys again. Goatsblood is an example of what bands need to do more of: freak out onstage and kill the audience with sound. I mean, i dont mind seeing a band play a flawless tight set, but i really enjoy being entertained at shows. And thats what they did, entertain. I'm a big sludge/stoner/doom fan so this was such a good band for me to see. I was really impressed by the drummer for using such a simple set and yet getting to use it like theres no tomorrow. Also, the idea of a guy doing electronic/noise stuff is totally awesome too...considering my crazy ecclectic tastes. This was one of the best shows i've seen in some time, in the best venue around. - Tue, 13 Apr 2004 3:07pm
Inktvis User Info... | Acting Ensign are getting better, and the Star Trek clips added alot more to their set I think. You can now feel that Trek vibe. Iskra were great, nice to see them playing shows again. I agree and do think Scott and Shawn's vocals sound pretty much the same. I only wish that one of them would do something slightly different, sing lower or yell, haha... just so its not so monotone. Wolf and Nick's riffs are getting better and better! Peruke were fun, somehow I just miss Doug's vocals... - Tue, 13 Apr 2004 5:29pm
snotshot User Info... | "Iskra needed a second vocalist because we average 300 words per song" Dude...thats not a song...thats a fucking Essay..i like iskra's lyrics..i just wished they rhymed a bit more, so i could sing along easier...the lovey dovey guitar parts sorta get overpowered by the "RA..ra..ra..ra" vocals at times....garthem gives me a chubby just thinking about him pointing his big guitar into the sky.....ahh...... - Tue, 13 Apr 2004 5:55pm
Curmudgeon Rocker User Info... | Shalom. GREAT fuckin' Acting Ensign shirts. Was that your idea Jamie? You folks should make more for selling at your next gig. I'm no trekkie by any means but I would still proudly wear one and go around beating up people. - Wed, 14 Apr 2004 7:02am
KnifeGhost User Info... | I don't wear t-shirts on stage (I gotta have a collar or the strap digs into my neck), but I would make an exception for Acting Ensign..... - Wed, 14 Apr 2004 10:03am
Cheeky User Info... | I absolutely loved that show. It was a great atomosphere and no one got out totally out of contol. The music was great and knew alot of people. Cheers to the promoter. Do it again, and soon. - Wed, 14 Apr 2004 1:34pm
Mutilashawn User Info... | Iskra vocalists are similar but on the recordings on the website they are so distinct. - Wed, 14 Apr 2004 6:51pm
Curmudgeon Rocker User Info... | Iskra: best of luck on your tour, don't catch anything I wouldn't catch, and try to all get along in the van, stan. (Amazing veggie-food offerings at various f-foods and con. stores, while you're totally sleep-deprived, while the van is barely making it, while______should maybe take a shower, while etc.....) - Wed, 14 Apr 2004 7:41pm
gramps User Info... | "while______should maybe take a shower," insert.. Nick ..in the blank space.....he smells BAD...and he's not even on tour yet.....dude..wash those smellies. - Wed, 14 Apr 2004 8:37pm

Ernest Borg Nine User Info... | We have new uniforms designs for our next show. I didn't think it was possible, but they are even more gay (gay in the homosexual kind of way not the locker room, high five, "That's gay" kind of way). - Thu, 15 Apr 2004 7:22am
Garthem Empire User Info... | at least i don't smell like formeldahyde gramps - Thu, 15 Apr 2004 9:52am
gramps User Info... | your weak come back smell just as bad...i see - Thu, 15 Apr 2004 11:25am
Troo_Kvlt User Info... | I think that show fuckin slayed! There was a rad atmosphere in that dungeon. Kinda mellow, but still pumped up. Iskra played a rad set (as usual, they fuckin blow me away everytime I see them) Puruke was s sickshow! They were a good wholesome display of fuckin-slit-your-guts death. Acting Ensign was pretty dope, but I only caught the last 5 minutes of their set or so. And I didnt stick around to see Goatsblood cuz the thought of a few cold ones was waaaay too big on my brain at the time. Look forward to the next show on Burnside. That place was rad. - Sat, 17 Apr 2004 11:07am
