anti-blue-up User Info... | That was so much fun! What a great spot for shows. Iskra was pretty good. The Rebel Spell was amazing, again. Anyone know what the first song they played was? I can't get it out of my head. Thank you Hoosegow man, by the way, if I hadn't been standing behind you I for sure would have left with a bloody nose or something. Ah, the best crowds are the sweaty, rowdy, drunk kind... - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 6:14am
Helonwheels User Info... | The Rebel Spell frickin slay- man I love them! I can't say enough good things about them. I think maybe the first song was "I see through you". The new songs they did were awesome, so pumped about them. I hope you that have CD Anti-Blue up, by the way were you the petite lady with the jean jacket that was adorned with a cool patch or maybe that was painted on it?-you did it yourself that I know. Its always a trip to find out the people that you see on this board were at the same show and then you're like "hey, who was that person??" Thanks Jay for being such a kind gentleman, you took some good hits for me up front for sure. Not gay. - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 8:17am
_Griphin_ User Info... | Yes that was an interesting gig, interesting to run into all the people I did know (or didn't). It sure suprised me just how many punk-type people there actually are in this town. Although, I really get nervous running into new people I don't know or haven't met yet. I also had a blast running into (I think) the lead singer of The Rebel Spell (love that mohawk!!!!). But which band was on a few bands before The Rebel Spell?!? (Those guys slayed!!!) BTW: Hope you all bought The Rebel Spell CD (can't go wrong for $3!!!). - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 9:16am
Paul Prole User Info... | what a great venue, i forgot that i was in Vitoria. The Rebel spell blew everyone away, an amazing set! nothing bad to say about the other bands either everone was awsome, the crowd was great too. i hope to play there agian, Thanks ISKRA i hope you have a kick ass tour! - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 9:25am
dan conner User Info... | Great show... I was there, a blue/turquoise freshcut quiff, leather jacket, glasses, lots of marijuana... Thats me! Great show, DIY and Rebel Spell just kicked plain ass... rock on! Dan Conner - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 9:52am
josh User Info... | all the rebel spell shit from their CD is up on newmusicanada if you didn't grab yourself a CD - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 9:54am
DICK User Info... | hey anti-blue-up to answer your question the first song the rebel spell played was called is it enough. - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 11:08am
Seditious User Info... | That show went off so well as to be surprising, the venue MUST be used again, because not only is it in the right area (central, not residential) it's got a sheltered alleyway to protect underage drinkers from the iron fist of the law. Yes, the Rebel Spell was wicked. Iskra and BWD played great sets as usual, and DIY (despite one screwup) are able to put on a good show. It's good to see girls taking important roles in punk bands too, because the punk scene can degenerate into a male-only thing at times. More punk-metal shows, it's good to get the different genres together. Makes for a more diverse and innovative scene in the end. Well done kids. - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 1:29pm
jay brown User Info... | Hands down one of my favorite shows I've been to in a long fucking time. The Rebel Spell are so good, and totally cool people on top of that. Brat Attack kicked ass, kinda remind me of early Propogandi without that sorta n.o.f.x. edge they used to have, and they were really cool as well. Bury Whats Dead are a great band if you havent seen them get off your ass and do it. It was the first time I've seen Iskra and holy fuck I was floored, I've seen all the guys in other bands and they were good but nothing like this, it was amazing. The Proles and DIY well, I hate to admit it but I was on a beer run for most of their sets. There was a great turn out and for the most part everyone seemed pretty damn cool. The mosh got rowdy but not overly so. Lotsa merch for sale, bought myself a c.d. and it fucking rules. Other than a couple of minor incidents with one person being a wee bit drunk and obnoxious(totally on purpose I'm guessing) the show was brilliant. It reminded me of the shows in the old days you hear us old fuckers talking about all the time. My head hurts though, must remember not to drink a bottle of tequila at the show next time. - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 1:51pm
zac User Info... | It was a great fucking show, all the bands kicked ass, too bad i didnt have the cash to get a Rebel Spell cd.. It would be rad to have shows there in the future, as long as noone drinks out front, or the underagers will get rounded up with the hookers from a block up.. but thats what the alley is for. I hope all the bands had as much fun as i did, and thanks to the crowd for getting so into it all. And ben, how do you know its not supposed to sound like that? hah, fuck timing anyways. -D.I.Y. - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 1:57pm
The Queen User Info... | Incredible show! The Proles are sounding much better than the last time I saw them , The Rebel Spell was sooo fucking good! It was the second time I have seen them play and I can honestly say they are my new favourite band. I especially like the fact that the girls in the band totally rocked out. (Thanks Tod for the info). Brat Attack were pretty damn good too...I liked the female singer's raunchy voice. Wish I had bought their C.D. It was weird/good seeing some old faces that I haven't seen out in a while. Good times. - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 2:04pm
Pooetry User Info... | I caught a bit of Iskra and all of Rebel Spell then I had to go. I really like Rebel Spell. I bought their CD and all. Helon- Good to meet you finally! Ty, Dick & Jay- Nice to meet you fellas again, too. Yep. I despise dude in the mosh pit. He was a big, stupid oaf of a jerk. He probably has a few scratches on his back from me grabbing hold of his back fat and throwing him away from me. - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 2:39pm
Ty Stranglehold User Info... | I had a lot of fun too. I'm down for the kids slamming too, but after you see a couple girls get decked in the chops by the same prick you just gotta let him know what's up. He probably doesn't remember anyways. Rebel Spell were smashing. I liked Proles too. Those who know me know I don't fly the metal flag, so I can't comment on those bands... Then I had to go so gramps could get his sleep. Cool little bunker to have shows in. I hope there's more. - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 5:55pm
Broccoli User Info... | yeah yeah: I only saw Rebel spell, but from the sounds of it they were the cream. Bwaha, some people in the back screaming along to there melodic bits too, that was frigg'n rad. Unfortunately, as I understand it, there aren't to be many more shows at that venue. Too bad, I liked the atmosphere... If they do have another, they should encourage use of the homemade 1/2 pipe so that getting in and out of the band area is a deathrace. Also: if some ventilation in that part is possible that would be cool - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 7:32pm
Helonwheels User Info... | I may have kicked said oaf- he was asking for it really, like come on FAK off oaf! Yes, he should be sporting some marks today, good for him-good times eh buddy!? It was a great time though all and all. Thanks to all of the bands. - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 8:29pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Outa curiosity, why not too many shows there anymore?!? And yeah, I was gonna make a comment about the half pipe at the show, it's great for those who were brave enough to skate on it, but a real hazard not only for the bands trying to move gear, but for that one person too liquored up to navigate, that ends up damaging his/herself tripping on it (or even trying to walk on it with slippery shoes). - Mon, 5 Apr 2004 10:03pm
TxSx User Info... | Iskra is going on tour in late april and won't be back for a month or two. I'm sure Juice will put on more shows later in the summer when he returns but only if u fucks can fork over enough cash to fix his truck(big monster out front)..... - Tue, 6 Apr 2004 7:36am
anti-blue-up User Info... | Hey, Helonwheels I don't think that was me as I wasn't wearing anything near as cool as you describe. I was actually in a fairly nondescript black and grey hoodie. Thanks for the identification DICK, that is one killer tune. It's certainly enough for me :) - Tue, 6 Apr 2004 7:50am
Helonwheels User Info... | Okay cool, thanks Anti-Blue up. For some reason your name has come up recently perhaps from a jam at the cambie but I heard and as you see i can be wrong BUT I heard that you play guitar? True, yes-no? - Tue, 6 Apr 2004 9:46am
anti-blue-up User Info... | Yep, I play guitar...which Cambie show? The last one I was at was the ill-fated FoB and Shivs show. - Tue, 6 Apr 2004 11:51am
Helonwheels User Info... | I was also at the last Cambie show, good times. I believe that Christine from FOB told me that you played. We(the ladies that jam together that call ourselves "Wrong hole action") are looking to be doing some jammin with a lady guitar player. We are without a guitar player right now and would like to be rockin it out lady style. I try to keep my ears open for the rockin ladies, maybe we could chat via email, yes? - Tue, 6 Apr 2004 12:51pm
