Habitat Ian User Info... | Thanks to everyone who came out! I think we peaked at over 200 ppl in attendance, one of the most packed Garry Oak Rooms I've ever seen. Awesome show, good job to all the bands. Bummer The Bloodwarmers couldn't play, but still a very enjoyable night. Lythic Blue put on a ridiculously amazing show. Note to everyone, if you haven't seen these guys, go see them. Fuckin good job, have a blast on tour guys! - Sat, 27 Mar 2004 1:57am
Blackjack User Info... | Damn, pretty fine show we had on our hands there. Red Baron was definitely decent for their first show, but it would have been nice to see them end off strongly rather than sort of dwindling on. Lythic, well, what do you have to say? I mean, they rock, they roll, they robot, they rule! I didn't enjoy the armchair cynics when I saw them play at fernwood before, but I really felt the vibe last night. And the fact that they played an extra set to make up for the bloodwarmers is pretty awesome as well. Good job to all the bands last night, and everyone who came out and flailed! - Sat, 27 Mar 2004 8:42am
alain User Info... | The habitat put on a good set, I'm liking them more with 3 of 5. Then the red baron played, and I agree, they need to leave on a good note next time and not dwindle down. Then lythic blue played. All I can say is 'twas a musical performance of lythic proportions. Then came armchair cynics. First time hearing them. Definitely a solid, professional band. I left after their first set apparently, all in all, fun show. - Sat, 27 Mar 2004 10:04am
bloodwarmers User Info... | Sorry had to give da bass a little fine tuning after.Thank you Eric for giving him shit.Totally suprised in the Cynics, loved the screeches Red Barren Stired up[working on make up show]keep ya posted - Sat, 27 Mar 2004 10:44am
Rex User Info... | This was, hands down, a most excellent show. I showed up (never again will i wait on a girl putting on make-up) at the very end of The Habitat's set. Nevertheless, i was impressed. Their last song "Say Goodbye", while poorly named, is most definitely the best thing i heard before Lythic Blue took the stage. Good job guys! The three piece thing is really coming together. Red Baron: it started off well for this band. But ended, as others have said, on a rather bad note (and no that's not intended to be a reference to the guitar being out of tune). It sounded to me like they were trying to write a song/jam during a show. You gotta have mad skill to pull that stunt off. Sorry guys, you arent at that stage yet. Much better performance than MD talent show though. Next up was Lythic Blue. I was kinda thinking that they were having an off day untill i realized that it was just the soundman's incompetence and that they sounded far better from the side. After that... WOW! These guys never cease to put on an awesome show and amaze me. First to last song, they were by far the best band of the night. "The Distance..." is an incredible song, talk about a great way to end. Finally, the Armchair Cynics. I'll say that i wasn't expecting much after i say them play at Big Fernwood but their set was pretty damn good. Way more energy and stage presence than last time made for a more all-ager and less barlike sound and more interest from the crowd. Unless i'm on crack, they changed Surprise Ending. We fear change, but this change was good. Good job on playing the double set too. As The Bloodwarmers were lacking in the bassist department I didn't get to see them. Not cool. Definitely coming to this "make-up" show when it happens. Until next time - Sat, 27 Mar 2004 1:01pm
SPENCER User Info... | (Spencer from red baron) sorry about the ending to our set guys. we practiced that set all a bazillion times and it always took about half and hour. I was real dissapointed that we completed it in about 20 min. Well shit happens and i was pleased with the rest of teh set. Great performance by Lithic blue, Habitat, and THE Armchair Cynics. Too bad about the Bloodwarmers i was quite pumped for them but o well. Thanx for comin out And thanx to Graham for putin this show on!!! - Sat, 27 Mar 2004 1:08pm
Eurydice User Info... | Great show guys, I was impressed. Armchair amazed me, as always. I would have liked to hear the Bloodwarmers, I was all psyched to skank it up =) But yeah, what was with Suprise Ending...? It seemed only the chorus was the same. Ah well, still a great song! Props to Red Baron...good to see young kids kicking ass. - Sat, 27 Mar 2004 2:41pm
k8 User Info... | Perhaps they have a new version of the song, I wouldn't be surprised if they are rewriting some of their tunes for their new EP. - Sat, 27 Mar 2004 2:58pm
Habitat Ian User Info... | Yea it definently sounded like they re-wrote parts of that song. Still wicked though. - Sat, 27 Mar 2004 3:11pm
Adam_Cynic User Info... | Howdy, thanks to everyone that came out.. It was a blast! We will start doing more AA shows. The only other band I saw last night was Lythic Blue and they blew me away as always.. For those of you wondering about "surprise ending", YES we have done some major changes to the song since re-recording it in vancouver. This is for the purpose of shopping it with our label. I think the only things that are the same in the verse are the bass and drum parts.. New Lyrics and guitars. We noticed a few confused faces in the crowd when we played it! lol Thanks again everyone! -Adam - Sat, 27 Mar 2004 3:11pm
Graham User Info... | Just wanted to say thanks to all of those people who came. You really helped me out. I will defiinately be concidering putting on a show in the near future even with Red Baron as well. I wud also like to say thanks to the habitat, lythic, the cynics, and the bloodwarmers even though they coldn't play because of their bass player. Props to those bands for showing me how to put on one hell of a show. Also the volunteers who provided security, you guys are welcome to help out again. And we (RED BARON) are a little embarrassed for feeling as though we needed to fill in the last 10 min of our set. It was my idea to lag on and really it wasn't the best idea. We had more music we just didn't want to play it all in one night. Graham Kendall Mgr. of Twisted Productions - Sat, 27 Mar 2004 3:19pm
ScottL User Info... | Rex: I sincerely appologize for trying. I suppose it would be best if nobody tried for the first time eh? This was the first thing of this scale, volume and magnitude that i have ever done sound for, so excuse a few mistakes (and several things beyond my control... like people stepping on the equipment and shit.) It can be a little tough. If you want, you could buy me a nice lil, tube compressor! That might help things out a bit =). The sound wasn't the greatest, but hey, it was my first time, but yeah, really great show. RED BARON could probably have waited a little longer before playing their show, but it was entertaining! Lythic was great, The habitat was quite good, I still am not the biggest fan or their style, but they have definatly improved! - Sat, 27 Mar 2004 3:31pm
Rex User Info... | Without extreme natural talent all people doing something for the first time display some form of incompetence. Apology accepted Scott. I suppose i coulda said something too you about the intense vocal volumes instead of just bitching afterwards but that would've meant that you wouldnt get the chance to write a smart-ass/arrogant response. Anyways, like before, minor flaws but a great show! - Sat, 27 Mar 2004 5:14pm

jacob User Info... | here it goes, Habitat: Weird being on the other side of the stage. Second time I've seen them from the audience and i'd have to say that they've def. improved on the burnside show they played a while back. For the most part, i found the music interesting although i didn't care to much for the new song somewhere there in the middle. Crazy seeing beef sing my lyrics, don't think i'll ever get used to that. Saw him staring into my eyes as we both sang my words, crazy shit man. hardest part part of watching them is trying to watch them and just enjoy it, as i'm so used to only trying to find flaws as was the case with practices. So all i see is mistakes, just as anyone would when they've played with a band for such a long time. Good job, and good luck in the futur. Red Baron: wasn't quite sure what to expect of these guys with all of the drama that happened before this whole thing was put on. i though they played a good set. I left about halfway in, so i don't think i saw when they 'improvised' the rest of their set. what i like most about this band is that they seem to be trying to entertain the audience, something that i find most bands forget about. they play good, fun, sing along music that has some appeal. contrary to other people i've talked to, i actually liked the swearing. things i didn't like about this band was that alot of their songs sounded the same. a little too much powerchord bashing (although some of spencers guitar work was excellent). i also found that the drummer was lagging behind the band, as though she was holding them back. saw graham look back at her a few times, wasn't sure if it was beceause of this. solid performance for a starting show. lythic: fuck, i can't believe i missed these guys. i left through half of red barons set and only caught two of lythics songs. always n amazing band, good luck with the tour. armchair cynics: second time i've seen AC perform. This is an amazing band. seemed to have the audience in a trance. being that i missed lythics's set, this would have to be the highlight of the night. you could tell that this band had the crowd at their fingertips throughout their entire set. a much heavier band than i remember them as, suprise ending was phenominal, and i liked the change. you could tell that this was a very rehearsed band with a ton of experience under their belts. very profesional for them to cover for bloodwormers and extend their set. good job guys, class act right here. especially liked the stage presence of their drummer, someting you don't see very often. bloodwormers: classy guys, very classy. never headr these guys before. heard some people say that this band was better than the hoochy girls...at least you get to see the hoochy girls. fun night. - Sat, 27 Mar 2004 8:34pm
Graham User Info... | Hey I was just curious. What do you think about my harmonica part in the third song for Red Baron's set. Just curious. Graham Kendall - Sun, 28 Mar 2004 9:08am
Impetus User Info... | word up, I'm Ben from red baron, I thought the show was awesome, I thought that the habitat have really improved since they lost 2 members, and lythic was really something. it was too bad about the bloodwarmers, I thought Armchair were awesome it was the first time I've heard them play live and they blew me away. And by the way, at the end of the red baron set we weren't actually trying to improvise lol, I just wanted to have a chance to make an ass of myself infront of 200 people and have a chance to say a few bad words before we were done:) - Sun, 28 Mar 2004 12:33pm
