Never been to a show on Sunday before...

Wow is all i can say. What an amzing night. I had a soccer banquet till 7:20 so i din't walk into the darkned Gary Oak room till halfway through Jules's set.

Pushin Up Daises ~ Sorry, missed your set.

Jules ~ I missed half of your set so i can't write a true review on you but what i can say is: Good mix of tracks, everything you spinned was fresh (with the exception of Outkast - Hey Ya) and energetic. Stand out tracks was the Annie Lennox and when you slowed the two records down at the same time, trading of...cool shit. Would have liked to see more scratching. I ehadr you had some technical difficulties so props for still impressing.

Peoples War ~ This is the second I've seen this band. The first time was at the last Hoochie Girls concert. I'm too much of a stickler for loudness, but i found that this set was held back by overall volume, especially the snare hits. Lot's of talent here, but i would have prefered a higher energetic sound from you guys. I know thats not your style, but thats just my preference.

Warsawpack ~ Holy Oil? More like holy shit! This is by far my favorite canadian band. I've been waiting to see them live for so long, and all i can say is that it was worth the wait. This is a very well rehearsed band that set's the room on fire with every song. The energy that the vocalist gave off was phenominal, by far the best performance by a singer i've ever witnessed in Victoria. The horns were tight, and the the Dj work was excellent as well.

Thank you Scott for bringing these guys to Victoria, even though it was on a Sunday night. Tons of fun, can't wait till they come back. - Mon, 22 Mar 2004 3:17pm

pushing up daisies kenny totally hates this band, but thats because he's always breaking his guitar and doesn't actually know how to fix it. on the other hand, i think this is one of the better sounding bands to come out of the all agers in quite some time. Jack has accurate, dynamic vocals and sir Jimmy James utilises effects that compliment mr. Dave's driving mid-range heavy distortion. they have tension to their music, and are beginning to write better and better pop music.

eno.wonk the ever talented jules didn't fail to impress with great vinyl selection and crowd pleasing beat juggling and breaks.
their were some technical difficulties but came through with the goods.
putting the hippo back in hip-hop.

people's war. i missed the set due to resting my ears.

warsaw pack. this being a sunday i only caught the first half.
there's nothing else to say, they lyrically, musically, and personally destroy. and it seems genuine. one of the best performances with the wurlitzer-wah jam in the middle. that was the freshest thing all night. - Tue, 23 Mar 2004 2:28pm

Once again I was impressed by Pushing Up Daisies. They've got charisma, presence, and enough catchy songs to render me completely sold. I love the distortion. Can't wait to see these guys again.

I enjoyed DJ Knowone much more this time than I did last year when he played at Burnside. He dealt with any technical difficulties well, and seemed to really connect with the audience. It was nice to hear some variety within the vinyl he brought, it definitely added variety and kept his set from becoming monotonous or drawn-out.

People's War - well, I stuck around for the beginning of their set, and from what I caught it seemed to be going pretty well. After that I retreated because my ears had had enough of standing near the speaker. They're a musically solid group, but for some reason I just don't find them particularly exciting. Oh well. It's probably just my short attention span.

Warsawpack was great, it's good to see a band with such a strong message they're trying to spread. They know where they stand, and they're not afraid to get their voices heard. Their music was also interesting, the various instruments (horns, tambourine) mixed it up a little and added an extra kick to their set. They managed to live up to all the praise I've heard given to them, which was a pretty big feat. Definitely a good set, I'm glad to have finally seen them live.

It was a little disappointing to see such a small crowd at the beginning, but it increased gradually as the night progressed. I guess it was probably to be expected; after all, it was a Sunday... but it would have been nice to have had more people out to enjoy Warsawpack. Super thanks to Scott for finally bringing them out for an all ages show, you are a hero! - Wed, 24 Mar 2004 9:28am
