This was an alright show. Pushing Up Daisies definently did not kick ass, it was really slow boring music i could sleep to. I thought Ten Too Late was kinda unimpressive, they're always the same type of ska, it's fun, but it takes little talent. I thought The Harrow was the best band of the night. A very underattended show, more promotion should have been put in by the organizers, cause it was a very small crowd. - Sat, 28 Feb 2004 8:37am

STH, your point about the small crowd is valid, but the organizers can really only do so much promotion and they did what the could. Really it was up to the bands to spread the word, and i think we did an alright job of it, we definatly could have done better. But all that said, there was still a decent turn out and we were also competing with another all-ager that night, and one the next day so we didn't come out too badly.
It was still an amazing show. Harrow were really cool, good to see something from the ashes of slick60. the span were amazing, and blew me away, i remember them from a year ago at little fernwood, and they were good then, and even better now. tigher than quebec girls! Ten Too Late were wicked as well, cool that they got to close and got a nice long set! - Sun, 29 Feb 2004 3:21pm

Stairway to Hell, what you have to realize is that not every band is going to play music you can mosh to. Last time I checked, moshing wasn't the sole point of music. I don't expect everybody to like PUD or any other band that plays slower music, but at least have some respect for the showmanship of the guys and their talents. It's not cool to come on here and slander a band like that. - Sun, 29 Feb 2004 5:14pm

Oh I'm just sharing my opinion, because that's what these boards are for right. I guess all I'm saying is PUD is not my cup of tea, maybe other people like that type of music but i sure don't. And it's not like i don't like music you can't mosh to, it's just that I just didn't like PUD's songs, i thought they all sounded very similar to the one before it. With that said, they are still young, so we'll see what happens. Harrow was very good though - Sun, 29 Feb 2004 7:19pm

pushing up daisies started off "the fiasco" with their brand of approachable pop/rock/garage stylings, and overall i'd have to say that their overall sound (which is young) is promising. I liked the overall presence of the band, from the lead singer swagger to the big haired guitarist they were putting on a good show. definitely.
harrow let the crowd sample their quasi rap-rock with a shaky beginning, and overall unimpressive musicianship. it was like the band was ready to blast off, but the lead vocalist needed to rely on clich style and... just to be honest, less than accurate singing.
the span brought expertise in their area of rock. with great soaring vocals (in tune!) and expressive guitar work. the groove was rock solid, and it was dance-able (even mosh-able.) and listenable.
ten too late , the slackers of the evening, were on last. who knows why? but i helped them out with EQing the amp and by the time i was done: the stage had disappeared. the crowd got into the show and everyone had fun.
happy kreter : solid songs, pop vocals and got some of the crowd into what he was doing. it's a hard gig doing the in-between, but he filled it. check out this guy on global symphonic! - Sun, 29 Feb 2004 8:33pm

Stairway, I have no issue with you voicing your opinion, or if you don't like PUD. All I was saying is that it seemed a little bit slanderous, and that isn't really necessary. Also keep in mind the fact that most of one band's songs will probably sound similar, after all it's the same band. Look deeper and you'll usually find rather different meanings between songs.

They may be young, but they seemed to be pretty mature. Probably the best thing to do when enjoying music is to have respect for a variety of musical styles, even if you won't listen to them all. Respect them for the talent required to make them, and the emotion put into them. - Sun, 29 Feb 2004 10:10pm

Overall I thought this was a pretty good show, the attendance level wasn't spectacular but I've also seen much worse. It's too bad there was another all-ager happening on the same night. As for the bands, I thought Pushing Up Daisies were great, they were my favourite act of the night. They had impressive stage presence and solid musical skills too, which combined to make a very solid set. Definitely looking forward to seeing them at the Warsawpack show. Harrow was alright, not my favourite style but they had me intrigued with all the fancy gadgets they used. What can I say, I love space echo. The Span was decent as well, they had a good set but it just didn't hook me like Pushing Up Daisies. Ten Too Late played their usual catchy ska-punk blend, including that Hotel California cover that everyone loves so much. Their set was energetic, and most of the audience seemed to appreciate them, which was nice to see. I didn't catch much of Happy Kreter, so I suppose I can't really judge him fairly with having seen only one or two songs. - Mon, 1 Mar 2004 10:17am

i'm not to sure i understand about this "same ol brand of ska punk stuff that they always play".... we've been branching off into rocksteady dub and a little bit of hard rock with our new songs....and i dont really know what else we can do...i mean look at other ska bands none of them really change there sound, what do u recomend we do? to add diversity to what we are playing if everyone seems to be getting quite board - Mon, 1 Mar 2004 3:19pm

Hey now, I didn't mean it in a bad way... I like your sound, it's catchy and very energetic, and I do see your point about trying to incorporate other styles of music in the mix as well. I guess I was just trying to say that it wasn't any better or worse than the other times I've seen you, it was on-par in quality and consistancy. - Mon, 1 Mar 2004 3:53pm
