Message Board > Show Reviews > Gig review: unstoppable Androids, Enchanted Faeries, FACES of BLACK |
_Griphin_ User Info... | Hey I'm half cut, and here's my review (let's hope I don't insult anyone this time... :) Well earlier I was gonna check out Dave's Blues Jam @ The George and Dragon, but apparently it was cancelled, it will occur next Thursday (which disappointed about 2 dozen people), if only they had corrected there error, poor guys lost money cause everyone that showed up left. But cool thing is, I betcha this website influenced paying customers from checking it out, or perhaps they were regulars, who knows. So after getting annoyed by some drunk, and downing a Phillip's Coffee Stout in record time (BTW: Good stout, but the brewer needs to make the Stout a lot thicker), I headed over to Logan's. Arrived around 9:30, was sorta busy, dead crowd. Waited for an hour, then Faces of Black took the stage, good solid set but the singer/bassist asked the sound guy to turn up her mike after the second song, and I agreed. Odd thing, the lead singer reminded me of someone from The Runaways, don't ask me why. Only thing I didn't like is the fact I couldn't hear the guitarist during some of the songs. But ah well, good melodies, and a rockin' bass line. Worth seeing live, definately. Then the place started packing. Good turnout at this point. So then after a gawd awful Raineer beer (Note: That stuff is horrible, not worth the price, but hey when your trying to make a dollar stretch :), I found out I knew the guitarist from FoB, awesome band BTW! Then Enchanted Fairies took the stage. I didn't really notice them until I heard that lead singer scream! Sent a chill up my spine. At which point the pit went NUTZ, and everyone had fun. Yeah those guys are a lot tighter then I saw/heard them last at Flee's Halloween party, too many people obscured my view of the stage show at that shindig. I was wondering if the lead singer was gonna wear the mask he did on halloween, would of been cool, but apparently it's hard breathing through it. After a killer set, unstoppable Androids took the stage. Now I thought the name of band sucked, and I thought the band would be similar, wow was I dead wrong. This band was a refreshing change, and they slayed! In fact they were so good, they got the crowd moshing in the best crowd response of the night. There set was cut short by Logan's management due to safety concerns, I think. Needless to say, if they ever play live again, you have to check these guys out. I was hooked, nice crunchy sound. On a side note, I ran into 2 former members of Gallows End afterwards outside, needless to say I was stoked! Apparently the CD "Spirit Mocking Flesh" was done as a high school work project (experience), wow nice to see schools are supporting the arts! I've always liked that CD. But I'm curious, you guys wanna see that band play live again?!? Methinks there's a gig left in them ;) That would be killer!!! Anyhow, that's how I saw it... - Fri, 13 Feb 2004 12:51am
ML7Mike User Info... | " But I'm curious, you guys wanna see that band play live again?!? Methinks there's a gig left in them ;) " hahahaha.. Ok, you try and get Matt and Wreaker to jam together! The remains of Gallows were busted red handed in our jamspot the other night jamming with ex-ML7 drummer Christophwhore. So look for that band in the de future.. hope it works out! - Fri, 13 Feb 2004 11:23am
H User Info... | This show was pretty cool. I only caught the end of faces of black's set and what sounded like a tool cover. All I can accurately say about them is that their singer/bass player has boobs that jiggle when she sings. The faeries of course destroyed in what could have been their most brutal performance yet. But like I told their guitar player, when a drummer fucks up like that, you gotta beat him with a stick to keep him in line. This was Unstoppable andriods first show, which impressed me to no end. These guys are going to make a mark on the scene for sure. The first part of their set wasn't really to my liking - not enough hooks and everything seemed to drag. But then they started busting some mad metal that just grabbed everybody by the balls. Their drummer and the singer/guitar player stood out the most for ripping ability. I can't wait for these duders to play again, but hopefully they'll cut the fat from their set. - Sat, 14 Feb 2004 1:12pm
