wee User Info... | well, what a smashing tuesday night that was. lakeboat were in damn fine form. it had been a while since i had the pleasure of a performance from these charming lads. the new songs were divine. can't wait to hear the recording. the decemberists were amazing. i've been all over the two full-lengths for the last little while and the songs were even more fun in the live setting, especially the dual behind the back solos. and the marching drum played at the end of the set by the devilishly handsome chris funk was the perfect end to a splendid set, even though it didn't include 'i was meant for the stage'. i was actually ready to go home happy after the decemberists, but i was rewarded by sticking it out for the walkmen. the new album is taking a while to grow on me, but seeing the songs live made a few things a bit more apparent. hamilton is quite the swaggery frontman, but he kept reminding me of some young hollywood hotshot who's name i can't quite recall. i also very much enjoyed pete bauer's ian curtis-informed style of spastic dancing. so, a very nice night out indeed. three cheers for malcolm and lucky. and i'll close by putting in another plea for the livevictoria boys to get on a gig photos forum! - Wed, 11 Feb 2004 9:57am
monksy User Info... | I could have listened to The Decemberists play every single song off all 3 cds. Fantastic. The Walkmen seemed a little uncomfortable on the small stage at times. Still, a great show all round. - Wed, 11 Feb 2004 9:29pm
LowBoy User Info... | This show would have been great, had I not mixed up the date... the doorman at Lucky kindly informed me that it was tuesday, NOT tonight. - Thu, 12 Feb 2004 10:15pm

Monsky User Info... | I e-mailed the The Decemberists to compliment them on a job well, done....and less than 24 hours later, Rachel (the drummer) e-mailed me to say thanks and they had a great time in Victoria. What a wicked band. - Fri, 13 Feb 2004 10:12pm
