Blackjack User Info... | Last night's licensed all ager was awesome. The security made me feel like I was gonna cause a ruckus, but I managed to contain myself. Aidan Knight was awesome and a really great way to get everyone into the feel of the show. Looking forward to seeing more from this guy. The Poppies: wow, I loved these guys and they're definitely one of my new favs in Victoria. Their music was great and their presence was a lot of fun to watch (the frontman was totally whacked out in the best way possible) so I hope these guys play another all ager sometime in the future. Smallhorse was just as good (if not better) as the last time I saw them. I still find all their songs catchy, and I doubt I'll ever get tired of Colin playing the guitar behind his head. The Fine Options were an excellent interval in the evening. Good long songs that let me drown myself in their music and come back smiling. Leeroy Stagger was excellent, and I can see what all the hubub was about. The way the guy moves on stage kept me interested and I wish I could have seen hom for more than two songs. Overall a great show, and I hope this venue'll have a few more licensed all agers in the future. - Sun, 8 Feb 2004 7:37pm
eboner User Info... | oh man i had so much fun. aidan! its always great to see my princess up on stage..i think his set was perfect to open the night. and best voice award too. but he already knows that. the poppies were so ...interesting. i liked their sound..but i think the singer really got my attention..with a look that should be cloned for a retrowear manequin (teeth hair and all) he was pretty shnassy. smallhorse...these guys are so good..they sounded better last nite then the last time i saw them play..they definetly suit this kind of show rather than teen pop punk bands... they are definetly great live. the fine options wer seriously rad. i have been wanting to see them play forever... man what a good set. jettison into space is still my fave. leeroy stagger and the sinking hearts..wow. leeroy has amazing stage presence..regardless of how many beers he had pumped into his system. fucking awsome tunes. yay for colin putting on the show!! - Sun, 8 Feb 2004 7:51pm
Eurydice User Info... | Wow, what a great fucking show. Security was weird, but it's a tough crowd when there's a mix of youngens and drinkers. Leeroy was amazing, first time seeing all the bands and they did a great job. I'm much more impressed by all the bands live than their recordings. Great crowd, great music, good times had by all. - Sun, 8 Feb 2004 8:24pm
[+} User Info... | thanks to everyone for coming out. and to colin for putting the whole thing on. big ups to the bands (the poppies, smallhorse, the fine options, leeroy&sinking hearts) and a special thanks to dan shortt for holding down the sound technicalities. all in all a great night; enjoyable music. - Sun, 8 Feb 2004 9:59pm
Amazing Creep User Info... | Damn fine show. I'm glad to have been able to run a shoot there. If any bands are interested in a DVD, Spectrum Community School's Video Arts Career Preparation program can make one for you at an affordable cost. You can call the school in regular school hours (8:30am - 3:15pm, Mon-Thurs, and 8:30am - 1:30pm, Fri) and ask to speak to Ren Schwarz. The phone number is 479-8271. We prefer at least 2 weeks notice, as we need to pick up the sufficient amount of tapes and arrange a crew. - Sun, 8 Feb 2004 10:07pm
Colin Sick User Info... | Yeha thanks to everyone who came out. I love seeing everyone out there just having a good time. I will definetly be doing another one in the next month or so. The after Party was a success aswell, if anybody would like a pic of lee grieswood giving some man love to Leeroy just drop me a line. - Sun, 8 Feb 2004 10:40pm
lauren a User Info... | - missed aidan and got very (very) upset. - only saw half of the poppies' set and only noticed that the leader singer was wearing too much eyeliner. wasn't really impressed with their music. - being the biggest smallhorse fan in the city i am entitled to say that i loved their set. that is all. - the fine options were good. better than i expected. - i left to go on some sort of adventure before the fine options were done and missed most of leeroy's set but what i did hear, i liked. alot. a lot alot. overall, good show. weird venue. - Sun, 8 Feb 2004 11:38pm
Brandon User Info... | Ahhhh yes Video Arts, double c and d block days ruled. Those were good times, getting high out by the overpass, passing the time by filming useless shit, skipping class all together. hey man you should check out the final projects from 1999, you'll see some classic shit. Hopefully they didnt cut mine out, its the one where 3 dudes are sitting around smoking dope from my bong named Bosevus (thats where Bosevus productions came from) The Professor and me were in that class together, is ol' evil Dr.Whitmore still running the class down there????? - Mon, 9 Feb 2004 1:06am
KnifeGhost User Info... | Word up, thanks for the kind words.... Our (The Poppies) set didn't feel that great onstage, but it seems like it's been well received, so I won't bitch about my playing...... I was very impressed with Aidan Knight.... (Dude, how old are you, anyways? I hate to see where you'll be in 5 years...) Smallhorse play a good set as always... I seriously think Cherry is the dance-pop hit single of 2005...... I was really pleased with the amount of new material in The Fine Options' set.... It was almost like seeing them again for the first time... And Leeroy's Leeroy... It'll be interesting where he and his all-star band end up in a few years..... But I was very impressed with the Multicultural center..... I will take some dedicated promotion (Colin did a bang-up job), but I think it could be a hot venue in the coming years......... Licenced all-ages is the ultimate, and it's a beautiful venue physically..... Ah, yes, the after-party was a hell of a thing.... Free the turtles!!! - Mon, 9 Feb 2004 2:32pm
des fleurs User Info... | yes! this was simply a stupendous show, I must say. aidan: good good and I'm not just saying that because you are a lady charmer. poppies: certainly interesting to watch. smallhorse: glad to see them somewhere where most people were actually enjoying them as much as myself. Caught me just at the right moment, I had the most fun during their set. fine options: I've waited to see the fine options for a long time; needless to say I wasn't let down in the least. leeroy/sinking hearts: I now know what all the fuss is about. 'thumbs up'. - Mon, 9 Feb 2004 7:43pm
ScottL User Info... | Very impressed with this show! generally speaking, a mic on the snare would have been nice, but it was still audible, other than that sound was pretty well done! Aidan i'm convinced on this one, Good stuff! Wasn't moved at the slaveco show (i think thats the last one aidan played) but at this show, i was definatly impressed. I suppose i was just not in the mood at slaveco. the poppies These guys were great, loved the attitude, loved the sound, loved the make-up!! however the vocals were at times, nothing to be desired. Smallhorse these guys never fail to impress me! Seriously, from the time when they hit the Gary oak room with us, to the recordings, to the other night, just forever impressed with the amzing musicianship that band has. The Fine Options I was really looking foreward to seeing these guys after listening to the songs on the site, and i was definatly impressed, a bit loud and unclear at times, but i was able to get the gist of it enough to make me want their record! Leeroy Great tunes! great presence and wonderful attitude. The finale was entertaining, with the falling over and all the antics. Glad to see leeroy finally. All in all, it was an amzing show, and i would see any of the bands again in a hearbeat! If you hadn't seen any of these guys before, then you should. - Mon, 9 Feb 2004 8:05pm
