Well, due to the fact I can't walk very far tonight (and my ear is impacted with wax), I had to bail on seeing the mighty D.O.A. this evening. However, I'm sure a few of you showed up, so let's see a few reviews. - Fri, 30 Jan 2004 8:58pm

For your information....All Right!!!

Joey came to my fine side of town again. Esquimalt at the Cambie Jan 2004. Ahh yes. The last time Joey Shithead played Esquimalt was back in May 1978. Yes thats near 26 years ago..... Yes back in 1978 DOA played the Dominion Hall in Esquimalt bringing along AV STIFFS and the penninsula all girl punks the DISHRAGS. I met a person who was at that show and said it was mostly unorganized chaos and fun. WOW... Honestly i figure that was the beggining of this punk rock thing in our city of Victoria.

I started to see live DOA shows in 1981 back when they used to play ALL AGE shows. Joey, Chuck, Greg, Rampage, Wimpy Roy, and Dimwit graced all age punk shows back in them days. Even local RED TIDE punks Chris Prohome and good ole Ken Jensen (RIP) did a term of duty with Joey and the mighty DOA.
Yes DOA are one of the staple punk bands in the world! 25 years Joey has been belting out the word of DOA.

So now i have just returned from DOA at the Cambie. It has been alot of years since i last saw DOA and i have to say this time wasn't the adrenelin packed time it used to be for me. But the dance floor was full of yet another generation of punks going off to Joeys DOA. Joey still sings the songs of General Strikes, President Bush (not Regan any more), Gordon Campbell (not Bennett or Vanderzam), and a handfull of the classics like Disco Sucks. He also throws a little marijuanna stuff in there to make the pot heads happy. I do have to admire Joey for keeping DOA going all these years. He has seen more live shows than the Rolling Stones I'm sure. Joey even has a book availiable to the public. Yes it was a good show and the dancefloor proved it.

In closing I hope Joey doesn't wait another 25 years again to play Esquimalt.... and maybe it's time someone started stickin thier necks out again and put on a all-age DOA show for all the new kids on the block.

Ricky, you're right on the money with your review. The only major complaint I have is how bad the sound was. It was muddy and there was no guitar to be heard. As for the energy level, I guess it true about us all slowing down a bit as we get older. The boys still rocked though.
It was nice to get Shithead to sign my book(a great read incidently!)
Rick, I might be wrong but I think DOA played at the Cambie in Esquimalt a couple of years ago.

Lest I forget that The Sweathogz fucking ripped as well! - Sat, 31 Jan 2004 11:06am

It was a great show and a great time! Mostly want to thank the awesome crowd that were here. As for the sound, Mike did an amazing job considering he lost the front end and made it work anyway. Joe and D.O.A. were mighty impressed with what he did. Keep supporting the Cambie and I'll keep booking great acts. - Sat, 31 Jan 2004 8:08pm

Funny seeing all the minors that attended. Good to know you still only have to be 16 to get in the Cambie! - Tue, 3 Feb 2004 1:49pm

Nice post dumb-ass. Notice how the manager from the Cambie responded to this post? Think she might check back now and then to guage audience/public response to the gig (they did just start having non-cover bands again after all). Think you've fucked it up now for future shows? Expect a lot tighter security on the door now. Nice one. - Tue, 3 Feb 2004 4:44pm

Tighter security is good for all bands that play there man. Last thing we need is for the place to get shut down a la Cobalt because kids are always in there. - Tue, 3 Feb 2004 4:54pm

Yeah buddy why would you care if they check for ID's unless you are a minor? I don't know about you but if I go to the bar, meet a girl, take her home, and have some fun, I would rather not worry that she might be 16. - Wed, 4 Feb 2004 9:18am
