lancemcnutter User Info... | Wow! What a fantastic show! Carolyn and her band were in top form last night at Logan's. I mean, she is always good, but these mad scientists she has playing with her now are just phenomenal. We are so lucky to have her here in town. She played a bunch of great new songs, and I bet her new record is going to be awesome. She really is the best, even though she won't talk to me anymore. But the big surprise of the night was the Guv'ners of Giv'ner, probably the hottest rawk band I have seen in ages. With Digby switching from guitar to pedal steel to mandolin and back again, a rock steady drummer, and Wayne from the Sensi-tones (whatever happened to that band?) on bass, tolan led the guvs through a hard and fast set of truck-drivin, beer-guzzlin' instant classics that rank right up there with anything Dave Dudley and/or Commander Cody ever played. See them now, cuz they will probably be playing arenas soon. All in all it was a great night out: my friend Larry returned the $20 I loaned him about five years ago, enabling me to get right pissed, and Stan gave me a hug and called me "brother". I had to walk home, and my girlfriend had put the chain on the door, so I had to sleep in the garage. When I went to get the car this morning, I found that someone had broken in (well, I guess "broken in" isn't quite accurate, since the back window of the Valiant doesn't go up anymore...) and swiped my Repulverizer and Run Chico Run cd's out of the glovebox...oh well, still a great night out. Gotta go return some bottles now and catch the bus to Vancouver, because Carolyn and her scary genius band and the guv'ners of Giv'ner are playing tonight at the Railway Club, and I don't want to miss it. And neither should you. Lance. - Fri, 30 Jan 2004 2:03pm | ||
