wee User Info... | hyperactive, sweaty, humourous, noisy (see subject line) and most importantly, uber-melodic adds up to yet another incredible set from mr. leo and co. dave's static bass stance belied his nimble fingers. and any doubt that gavin (from karate) wouldn't be able to fill in for the absent chris watson was quickly put to rest, as his drumming was as smooth as swiss timing. not even the overzealous fanboy who tried to sing/shout along to every word could stop this from being the best show so far this year. they played pretty much everything i desired to hear, save for "the ballad of sin eater", but i can't really complain. in three words, so damn good. ryan beattie, he of chet (victoria's most splendid band), played a grand set to start off the night. the fact that he opened with "rackets" made it even more divine. go buy his new solo disc to tide you over until the new chet disc is available. having never heard 'em before, the fiery furnaces were a pleasant surprise. there was a bit of uncomfortable tension on stage at points, but it went along well with the jagged music. thankfully any unpleasantness was overshadowed by a strong frontwoman, a boisterous drummer and a bass player who masterfully utilized a boss dynamic wah and made good twiddly bits and deep bass with his radio shack-issue moog. but while on the subject of wah, the keys/guitar guy (who was the source of said tension) was a little too reliant on his. all in all, one spectacular saturday night. - Sat, 24 Jan 2004 8:40pm
wee User Info... | ps: you livevic chaps ever consider putting up some space for shutterbugs to post shots from gigs? - Sat, 24 Jan 2004 9:30pm
jake User Info... | oh well excuse me for rocking out, sorry to ruin the show for you. thanks for telling me how to act though, i'll keep that in mind. aside from that, yes, an amazing show, best i've seen since i moved to the west coast. ted leo is the man. - Sun, 25 Jan 2004 8:45am
Livevic Scott User Info... | Hey wee .. thats actually a pretty good idea and would be pretty easy to implement =) .... i'll pitch it to nev (considering he dosen't check the board too much) - Sun, 25 Jan 2004 9:56am
KnifeGhost User Info... | I didn't hear the overzealous fanboy....... But I _did_ hear all the TED LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!s....... Which were far more amuzing than annoying.... That said, the show rocked, I was very pleasantly surprised........ I bought Hearts of Oak..... I enjoyed Joel Plaskett, but Ted Leo kicked his scrawny ass...... - Sun, 25 Jan 2004 10:56am
wee User Info... | jake, i certainly wasn't telling you how to behave at a show. and if you'd have read my post a little closer, you would have seen that i said yr enthusiasm didn't ruin the show for me. i thought it was quite amusing and i was just sharing my thoughts on the eve. - Sun, 25 Jan 2004 5:11pm

jake User Info... | perhaps i took more offense than intended, i just dont enjoy being referred to as a "fanboy" all hail ted leo, the reigning king of rock n roll. yeah you may have had fun yellin it.. BUT IMAGINE GROWING UP AS THE KID WITH 2 FIRST NAMES... hahahah... the king of comedy too? - Mon, 26 Jan 2004 3:08pm
Trailer Park Boy Julian User Info... | Great show... well at least the Ted Leo part of it. Got there just as the Fiery Furnaces started and hated them from the get go. I hope I never hear or see them again - I'll leave it at that.... Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, on the other hand, were fantastic!! I was smiling from beginning to end during their fast paced set. Ted has been blessed with some serious talent and I'd be surprised if I saw him and the Pharmacists play in as intimate of venue as Logan's for a loooong while.... - Sun, 1 Feb 2004 8:02pm
jake User Info... | whatchu talkin? i loved the fiery furnaces had heard their lp before and wasn't impressed their show, however, was great, totally turned me on to the album very diverse though, i could see how it could be a bit much for some. - Wed, 4 Feb 2004 5:36pm
LowBoy User Info... | FF was okay... kinda jangly and too hi-eq'd for my tastes. I think Ted will be back to Logan's... either that, or Lucky Bar. But if he ever comes to Legend's, I'm going to be in a bind, because Legend's sucks ass for live shows. - Fri, 6 Feb 2004 12:14pm
Logan's User Info... | "I think Ted will be back to Logan's... either that, or Lucky Bar" It should definitely be Logan's. Logan's is awesome. - Fri, 6 Feb 2004 1:11pm
LowBoy User Info... | Oh, I agree. It's my favorite venue in town to see shows at. Lucky's my second fav, but it's too long and thin for my liking.... although playing there is nice. - Sat, 7 Feb 2004 6:16pm
