I heard about that from ML7Mike, so what was up? Was the gig cancelled? - Fri, 23 Jan 2004 8:47pm

The show was not cancelled but opeth however played a short set. There drum tech set in with the band as there normal drummer suffered from panic attacks and went home to Sweden, gerry from stapping young lad also sat in with opeth for two songs. The show itself was really well attended and the opening bands devil driver and moonspell were reall amazing. It was a bit disapointing that opeth had to cut there set short and play mostly stuff off of the mellow c.d, but still worth the trip over to vancouver for the show - Sat, 24 Jan 2004 8:54am

Hahahahaha....Gerry, hahaha...Oh dear, that made my day.

Ya, the show wasn't good, though Gene's playing for the last 2 songs were great. That Deep Purple cover made me angry.

Oh well, got 5$ back at the door, but they better come back like they said... - Sat, 24 Jan 2004 2:20pm

Gerry? I didn't see any Gerry's playing but I did see Gene Hoglan. Yeah I came into this show thinking that Moonspell and Devil Driver were going to suck ass. So I was happy when they turned out to be pretty decent. Yeah the short Opeth set sucked but at least we can say we saw Gene Hoglan drum for Opeth. Probably the only time that will ever happen. Twas a good time. - Sun, 25 Jan 2004 3:50am

The show was good; the only Moonspell album that I liked was 'Irreligious,' and they played 'Full Moon Madness' which was a wicked tune. But Moonspell's not about being technical, it's more along the lines of goth-rock, so I liked some of it for that reason. 'Devildriver' was definitely not my thing...Opeth was great though, I'm glad they at least went ahead to do what they could, I know Mikeal sounded like he felt shitty about it but what can you do? They did a 'Damnation' tour before so it was basically the substitute. Still good though, I'm glad I went. And yes...seeing Gene on the set was amusing! - Mon, 26 Jan 2004 9:48am

A waste of my hard-earned 30-some-odd dollars. My parents work eight hours a day for that money! Moonspell was trash, I found not a single reedeming factor about that band. Boring, predictable, slow. I luckily missed Devildriver. Opeth's set was totally weak. I know it wasn't their fault but I've been waiting years to see them live and when I finally do, their set is a joke and I'm left feeling rather empty. It was fun getting messed up and hanging out with my friends but I could have done that anywhere. - Wed, 28 Jan 2004 4:56pm

I went to the Vancouver show and the Seattle show the next night. I had a good time at the Vancouver one considering the circumstances... I knew two days in advance that the tour was off to a rough start so getting to hear even 1 or 2 heavy songs was a bonus in my eyes.

However, Seattle was the real deal. The set was no "joke" this time (Master's Apprentices, Drapery Falls, THE MOOR!!!, Windowpane, In My Time of Need, APRIL ETHEREAL!!!, BLACKWATER PARK!!! Deliverance and Demon of the Fall). They slayed unlike anything I've ever witnessed before. They may have dissapointed some people this time around but if they come back don't pass up the chance to see them play a real set. - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 12:42am
