Message Board > Gear Buy & Sell > 1968 Rickenbacker 330 $3400 |
Whitford St. Holmes User Info... | If you've never played or owned a vintage guitar here's a great purchase. Why buy a new Rickenbacker 330 for $2000 or more when you can have a genuine '60s model? What's the difference? Original toaster pickups are important (Rick doesn't offer them as stock anymore, and that's THE sound). A 21 fret neck that was only produced until circa 1970 is a factor (newer ones have 24, but purists will tell you that the 'sweet spot' is found where the neck pickup is located on a '60s Rick). The headstock is aesthetically more appealing- much smaller than later production models. Lastly, the neck and fretboard are slim and fast; the late '60s Ricks in particular are famed for this feature. This guitar is in great shape with a beautiful fireglo finish, nice figuring on the back and a worn but original case. This model and vintage usually go for more (check Gbase) but I got this in a trade and would rather have the cash. I know Ricks, especially vintage ones.
