_Griphin_ User Info... | Well damnit, I'm gonna learn how to play that 6-string guitar thing this year, but how do people learn how to play power chords?!? Go figure, one of the most easiest things to play and I still can't figure it out (the power chord originally was a blues thing; I can figure out single strings, but anything past that I can't play). I mean, it's not like I'll ever play in front of people, this is for my own enjoyment (people in bands know what there doing, I never will at this rate, hell even bands like The NEOs and Jerk Ward knew what they were doing). Suggestions?!? - Fri, 16 Mar 2007 1:12pm Edited: Fri, 16 Mar 2007 1:27pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | Start using your index and pinky fingers. Eventually you may choose to move to the much storied index-ring finger combo, but that's later. one string and 2 frets apart. I first started on old Sabbath riffs, you can try that or hit up some CCR tabs or something. Play reeeeeally slow at first so your axe don't end up in the parking lot under the broken patio window. You can do this, bro. If we can figure it out, you should pick it up lickety. - Fri, 16 Mar 2007 4:15pm Edited: Fri, 16 Mar 2007 4:16pm
Andrew User Info... | i used the index/ring finger for 5 years and then switched to pinky. - Fri, 16 Mar 2007 4:38pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | Aaaaah yes, the switcheroo. My hands fingers are short, so I use the index-ring for all chords above the 3rd fret, and the index-pinky for 3-2-1. - Fri, 16 Mar 2007 4:46pm Edited: Fri, 16 Mar 2007 4:46pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Yes this is what Bonehead recommended when I asked him about playing chords. He told me to get used to using the pinky finger a lot. - Fri, 16 Mar 2007 8:09pm
Andrew User Info... | ross i have to use the ring finger past the 9th i think... adjusting ur strap helps but no1 wants to nipple ride like the beatles right lol. do u like black flag? - Fri, 16 Mar 2007 9:30pm Edited: Fri, 16 Mar 2007 9:58pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Wow, just playing around with the guitar, I figured out how to play "Set the Controls For the Heart of the Sun" by Pink Floyd. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Set_the_Controls_for_the_Heart_of_the_Sun - The main riff is played by David Gilmour on the guitar by using extreme low registers almost sounding as a bass. The riff E E F E D E... is in the phrygian mode. Its "indian" character was very fashionable for pop music at that time. That doesn't look right, I've been playing the main riff as E E E F E E D E (single string), it's so simple in it's layout. ... the heart of the sun! - Sun, 18 Mar 2007 2:55pm Edited: Sun, 18 Mar 2007 3:02pm
Indole Derivative User Info... | Andrew, I am and always will be a firm believer in nipple riding. A low slung guitar hurts my wrists to play, and I can hit everything more precisely when its higher up. Idiot. - Tue, 20 Mar 2007 3:44am
Andrew User Info... | lol what the fuck? Did some1 forget to change their tampon? idiot? rad dude. - Tue, 20 Mar 2007 5:07pm Edited: Tue, 20 Mar 2007 5:13pm

sealion User Info... | set the controls? griphin we need to talk. Me play compact duo, the key to ummagummma - Fri, 23 Mar 2007 10:03pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | I was actually translating the song in my head to the guitar, but I cheated and looked at the tab to see if I was playing it right. - Fri, 23 Mar 2007 11:42pm
Danielle User Info... | Griphin: you seem like a cool guy. Are you gay or otherwise unavailable? - Sun, 1 Apr 2007 6:08pm Edited: Sun, 1 Apr 2007 6:59pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | No, I'm single actually. I was in a relationship a bunch of years ago, shame what happened (and it was totally my fault). Why do you ask, or am I acting wierd again and your being mean?!? :) - Sun, 1 Apr 2007 9:02pm Edited: Sun, 1 Apr 2007 11:31pm
Danielle User Info... | Mean? Not me.....well maybe if you had no sense of humour. I can be mean though. REALLY FUCKING MEAN. So whadidya do to her? Package her up and send her by barge to Iran? Hey you know anyone who teaches acoustic? My instructor gave up trying to shag me and ran off with a nice polish girl. - Tue, 3 Apr 2007 2:32am
_Griphin_ User Info... | Yeah, I know. I once again took what a person said the wrong way. Only people I know that would teach acoustic would be at the Long & McQuade school. I was thinking about going there myself (it's close to where I work) but I can't afford what they charge ($20 per hour). Other then that, what about looking at the bulletin board at Long & McQuade?!? - Tue, 3 Apr 2007 10:30am Edited: Tue, 3 Apr 2007 11:05pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Just figured out (well yesterday), Richard Hung Himself (DI), and a few days ago: The Ramones-I Don't Care (3 chord punk rock rules). Without playing with a guitar, seems like Motorhead-Ramones is just as simple to figure out. - Thu, 5 Apr 2007 12:35pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Danielle, we must do coffee sometime. I would of E-Mailed you cept you have no E-Mail address apparently. - Sat, 7 Apr 2007 11:30pm Edited: Sat, 7 Apr 2007 11:30pm

Danielle User Info... | My my "Mr. Bay", is it wise to attack the virtue of another when such judgment discloses the source as a venal plebeian? p.s. That's HO to you MOTHAFUCKA - Tue, 10 Apr 2007 7:46pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | In the words of Hacksaw Jim Duggan... HO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Tue, 10 Apr 2007 9:36pm Edited: Tue, 10 Apr 2007 10:30pm
Danielle User Info... | Hmmmm a wrestling fan.....you can call me Ho, bitch, slut, whatever, or maybe even be a little more creative. No offense to me. Duggan wears diapers anyway...so na na boo boo! - Tue, 10 Apr 2007 11:51pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Duggan was my dad's favorite wrestler, actually, and you gotta respect a person who survived cancer!!! I dunno, I'd rather call you Danielle. :) You know, this thread sound cheezy... - Wed, 11 Apr 2007 11:01am Edited: Wed, 11 Apr 2007 11:57pm

trevor corey User Info... | ahhhh....spring is in the air! Way to go Griph! - Mon, 16 Apr 2007 11:42pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | I figured out something else, you can't really learn a power chord without the "power" behind it (in my case, I need to use my pratice amp more often). You can do way more with an amp (I guess). Yes Trevor, I thought of the same thing myself, but Danielle seems to be rather busy so I never hear much from her (and god knows I have yet to meet this person "in person", or perhaps I have met her before, and my memory is being selective again. :) - Tue, 17 Apr 2007 11:58am Edited: Tue, 17 Apr 2007 12:18pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Actually I gave up on Danielle. There's too much shit going on in my life that will drag her (or anyone) down, so as usual I give up. I hate to do that, but I had another moment today. I understand it's not fair, but it's easier this way (at least hiding seemed to be a good idea at the time). It's not her problem, it's just me. There's a reason why I'm single for life, so if you can't understand that, too bad. Now, back to my book. :) - Tue, 17 Apr 2007 4:47pm Edited: Tue, 17 Apr 2007 10:15pm
trevor corey User Info... | Why don't you give Triumph/Jobwave a call? They help people on disability find jobskills to help supplement their incomes. PWDs are alowed to earn $500 per mont. That's an extra $6000 a year. You seem intelligent enough to get some computer skills that you could even work from home. You might even find something you could handle full time and lose the pwd altogether. Plus I'm thinking there are a few women at Camosun that would be into "short term" relationships. If your already reading a book anyways...... - Tue, 17 Apr 2007 10:48pm
_Griphin_ _Griphin_ Messages Posted: The scene is dead, too bad. | You know, it amazes me I can still read, though my short term memory ain't the greatest. I'm already working at the Wellesley, 2 hours a day, 3 days a week at $11.50 per hour. I tend to get frustrated over my situation and it boils over. But I'm not into any relationship, it just ain't worth it. - Tue, 17 Apr 2007 11:27pm
