accountant | To whom ever recieves this job, hope you have a great day job. The pay is $900 for 15 shows. How long is a show?, say 4 hours from time you start working to unpacking and everything. That 4 hours is a total guess, from experience. That is 60 hours of performance. That makes it 15$ an hour for shows. Now, lets just say all the keyboardist needs is a 1 for 1 rehearsal. Which means, for every live hour, he rehearses 1 hour. That brings the players salary to 7.50$ an hour. Bring in transportation and costs as such, strings etc etc, that brings it to probably 4$ an hour. I come to this number using very liberal estimates above.I would have to say, that amount that the keyboardist will make-PROFIT to be about 2 $ an hour. AND WHO SAYS BEING A ROCKSTAR DOESNT PAY OFF - Sun, 16 Mar 2003 1:32pm
The TAXMAN | Dont forget about me, 1.25$ an hour - Sun, 16 Mar 2003 5:08pm
G. Campbell | Don't forget about me. I've got a fine to pay. - Sun, 16 Mar 2003 7:29pm
Gare User Info... | Anyone else confused by what "accountant" said? I mean since when do keyboards need to be restrung? - Sun, 16 Mar 2003 9:35pm
Morgan | Hey Accountant... The pay isn't amazing, that's true. But... 1) You aren't working at McDonalds, you are making music... and if that's what you want to do with your life, then this aint a bad start 2) you won't pay tax on it (a small incentive, but if you wanna really be an accountant...) 3) experience from a show like this (or any gig for that matter) will result in experience as a musician, therefore making you a more experienced player, who will (hopefully) get more gigs, get paid more, and be able to do what they love as a living. Just a thought. Morgan - Sun, 16 Mar 2003 10:07pm
accountant | If you want me to respond, it will cost you - Sun, 16 Mar 2003 11:32pm
Morgan | anyone out there? - Mon, 17 Mar 2003 3:20pm
Josh | a friend of mine is a good musician (guitar, keyboards, bass, etc..) however he can't read music. plus he is slightly bashful when it comes to braggin about his musical talents... is reading the music a must? i might be able to convince him to respond if it's not. - Mon, 17 Mar 2003 5:55pm
Morgan | Unfortunately, reading music is important for this gig, just cause we get thrown charts and have to be able to instantly play them. - Mon, 17 Mar 2003 9:27pm
Anonymous User Info... | fuck, accoutant, you usually lose money when you play, 15 shows is usually like 900$ down the drain, making that would be fucking rad - Tue, 18 Mar 2003 2:16pm
accountant | True - Tue, 18 Mar 2003 2:34pm
Anonymous | Don't forget about those string costs - Tue, 18 Mar 2003 8:18pm
I really play for real | Hey, looks like you're getting desperate. When are your shows? I'm around 'till the 26th of April, and I actually do play keyboard, and I do read music, and I do have experience with live shows. (Quite a bit of it.) I've got classical grade 10, and the theory to boot, so I can transpose, or just set that dandy 'transpose' function on my keyboard. Oh yeah... I've got my own amp and equipment too. Looks like it's pretty close to your date, but if you need help, let me know. - Sat, 12 Apr 2003 10:55pm
