darcy User Info... | While other musical interests don't seem to be going anywhere fast, I thought I would throw out another idea I have had for a long time. I'm looking to start a politically inspired band. Politically left that is. Don't matter if you're Socialist, Anarchist, Communist, all of the above, none of the above. Just lookin' for some people who have a strong idea of unity; able to look past a few minor things we may not agree on, and would want to create a group with strong, positive, active messages. Not sure about any sort of sound. I suppose that would depend on any contacts I receive. Anything from Acoustic (Phil Ochs, Sarah Marlow), to punk with a tad of post (Che: Chapter 127), to, yes, even rocksteady and reggae, to anything really. Come on, I'm sure someone out there wants to start a little red EP. - Wed, 26 Sep 2007 10:49am
1986 User Info... | I'm not even being a jerk, but how is anarchism left wing?? Isn't it more like NO wing or something?? - Wed, 26 Sep 2007 6:02pm
darcy User Info... | "Left wing" and "Right wing" are very broad, one-dimensional, and dialectical terms that, while have roots, change and evolve. I believe it started during the French Revolution in 1791, while the king was still in charge. The "right wing" royalist Feuillants sat on the right side of the chamber, while the more "left wing" Montagnards sat on the left. At that time right wing was reffered to as wanting to stay loyal to the royal. That is, keeping things the way they had always been. Let wing was, being that the French Revolution was more or less one of Bourgois, in favour of laissez-fair capitalism and the free-market (things that would be regarded as right wing these days) While at the time the left were fighting for what many would view now as right wing ideas, it has changed and evolved over time. I also read something that may pre-date that, but I can't think of where it was. - Wed, 26 Sep 2007 6:34pm Edited: Wed, 26 Sep 2007 6:56pm
