| mactac User Info... | OK.... I too am looking to put together a funk band, concentrating at first on some covers, add some originals & see how it goes. I play bass (12 yrs) & have a lot of production & recording experience (i've been signed) & am looking for: - front man/vocalist (gotsta *drip* funk & have great stage presence) - rhythm guitar (funky chunky wah scratch) - keys. clav would be great (maybe instead of r.guitar), but anyone who can snake around the beat - horns. a whole horn section would be dynamite, but we can put it together. - super tight drummer (jk are you in?) the idea is to get some tunes worked up, play around town, get a following, have a hellofalot of fun & perhaps start working on some originals & see where it takes us. looking for experienced musicians.. don't really care how old you are as long as you have a ton of energy & can play tight & have experience on stage. It would be nice to jam out so it would be nice if you can improvise. Think: James Brown Funkadelic / G. Clinton THe Meters Sly & the family stone Average White Band Medeski Martin & Wood ...and also some more modern hip-hoppy stuff (people under the stairs, mos def, etc). I've got a wide open mind for the music we play as long as it's entertaining to a bar crowd. SOme groove/rock is also ok, but I don't want a "rock band". We would practice 1-2 times per week whenever fits our schedules, most probably at one of the jam spaces in town unless someone has a practice space available. call me at 516-477 if you're interested or email me at [email protected] .
