Well I seem to be having problems playing guitar since the assault, so does anyone recommend any exercises?!? I used to play sorta OK, but a lot better then I can now. (I lost the use of my entire left side). - Thu, 3 Feb 2005 4:09pm

I sprained my complete hand, wrist, and forearm so bad from smashing a bus stop window 1/2 thick to the point where they had to put it in a cast(nothing broke).Go to Pandora street to the little pink/purple building and get accupressure then accupuncture. They do a great job,..I,m soloing etc, back playing drums etc.I can,t recommend it enough.$20 an hour and sooner or later you,ll be rockin.Plus do what Pete mentioned in the meantime. - Thu, 10 Feb 2005 2:04pm

major scale: 1 2 34 5 6 7

Modes:(if these are the same modes he's talking about) Ionian (major), Dorian, Phrygian, Aeolian (relative minor), Myxolidian, Lydian, Lochrian.

I hope those were the same modes Pete was talking about. The easy way to figure out the modes is to take the Major scale or Ionian mode and then the root of each note is just the next one in the Major scale, it's hard to explain like this. but, for example: take the A Major scale which is: A B C# D E F# Ab (A) - Thu, 10 Feb 2005 6:05pm

Yes ... Modal positions. there are seven with the major scale... five for a pentatonic.. etc.Lets take c-major(for ease of explanation)
1st mode(ionian) C D E F G A B C
2nd mode(dorion) D E F G A B C D
3rd mode E F G A B C D E
ETC.
The notes of the scale do not change... just the start and end point.
Typically they are played across all six strings(two octaves) without leaving the 5 frets you are playing in (The Modal Position). Arpeggios are also great in each modal position(135,246,357,461,572,613,724...)ascending and descending.
Have fun and stick to it...I hope your anger doesn't get the best of you again... that bus stop didn't feel a thing!
