FMTA User Info... | FMTA is a heavy Industrial band from Vancouver, we are looking to bring our high energy show anywhere on the island to promote our soon to be released EP. We have a unique sound and we can fit on a bill with industrial, electronic, metal, punk or rock bands. We're also looking for contacts for venues or contacts of other bands. Thanks, http://www.myspace.com/fmta http://www.fmtaband.com - Fri, 10 Nov 2006 3:59pm Edited: Fri, 10 Nov 2006 4:00pm

moron User Info... | Hang the DJ, first - FMTA aren't industrial (it's Bile sounding rock music) and second, there has been quite a bit of industrial stuff going on locally this year. No slight against teh FMTA folks (I like Bile just fine) but billing them as industrial is very misleading since that is not what they are. I've personally put on a wack of stuff at Logan's including Sisrenatus, Bloodbox plus local's such as Night Mother, griefer, etc. Also tons of harsh noise stuff with folks like The Rita, Flatgrey, Taskmaster, Brutophilia, Burning Indian, etc. We have had 4 guerrilla shows already and had a house show with 8 acts just this last weekend. There is for sure an underground pure industrial scene in this city and it is active. Cheers - Fri, 24 Nov 2006 12:28pm
Anonymous User Info... | That's kind of disappointing to see a "known figure" (the owner of INDUSTRIAL.ORG no less) having nothing but negative marginalization to express about an up-and-coming band, especially considering the friendly gestures offered by the other two comments previous to yours. Just, disappointing. - Sun, 26 Nov 2006 2:05pm
moron User Info... | What did I say that was negative? I just said that FMTA weren't really an industrial band (which they are not) and that contrary to Hang the DJ's comment there have been industrial related gigs happening here. Both statements are true. Saying that FMTA isn't industrial isn't any meaner than saying you aren't a ska band. Do you consider Powerman5000 industrial just because they happen to have synths in the band? Call yourselves something applicable like coldwave or rock music (even techno metal would suffice) and I will shut the fuck up about it... Cheers - Tue, 28 Nov 2006 2:52pm
Anonymous User Info... | I wasn't taking offense, or anything. However, saying we're "not industrial" is like saying we're "not rock" or "not metal" (when our music clearly has huge amounts of all of those styles), and is merely nitpicking about semantics - we use the word "industrial" to give people a vague description of our sound, so people have a bit of an idea of how we sound, without having to know less-common terms like "coldwave" or the likes. In the end, it's easier for the average person to understand "industrial" than it is to say "coldwave with a touch of black metal and some european gothic influence plus some electronic styles as well", you know what I mean? There's no point for you to say repeatedly about how we're not industrial, because in the end, that is how we are seen, how we look, and how we sound (OVERALL). I'm not going to start telling everyone who listens to us that we're not industrial (although it would make a pretty good joke). - Wed, 29 Nov 2006 5:20pm
