_Griphin_ User Info... | http://wii.ign.com/articles/704/704020p1.html Classic Metal Slug games hit Nintendo's new system with added free-hand style controller functionality. -=- I saw Metal Slug for the WII when I was at BG Games in Hillside mall, I was excited!!! Good thing I'm getting a WII. Here's how the control works (from: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=149802?cid=OTC-RSS&attr=CVG-General-RSS) The Nunchuk Control scheme lets you control your character with the Nunchuk while using the A and B buttons to jump and shoot. Or you can turn the Wii Remote on its side and it alone to control the game, using its D-Pad and face buttons like a traditional pad, or a stranger scheme letting you tilt the controller left or right to move your character and jumping, shooting and throwing grenades with the D-pad and 1 and 2 buttons. Hardcore arcade nuts can also choose a scheme that uses the Wii Remote to emulate an arcade stick, gripping it vertically and lean it in the direction you want to move and shoot. But coolest game I've seen for the WII, Gran Turismo!!! (with a really neat steering wheel controller for it). - Tue, 5 Dec 2006 5:03pm Edited: Tue, 5 Dec 2006 5:11pm
Shaggy User Info... | Phil Phil Phil... PC>Consoles ;) There are also a lot of reports of people getting 'tennis elbow' from the Wii controller, something you might want to take into consideration before buying one. - Tue, 5 Dec 2006 8:08pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | The WII is the first console I've been excited about since ColecoVision and Intellivision. But I'm sure once the fad dies I'll be back to ZSnes, Mame and NOSTalgia (Intellivision emulation ROX!!!). But I'll give the WII a chance, there's gotta be something decent out or coming out for it. Why do people get tennis elbow?!? Cause there out of shape, just ask Jym how he felt after an 11-hour gaming marathon on the Wii! I like the WII, first gaming system that keeps you in shape. - Tue, 5 Dec 2006 8:24pm Edited: Tue, 5 Dec 2006 8:25pm
Shaggy User Info... | It's due to the controller Phil. Since you have such a broad range of movement with it in your hand, people are reporting repetitive stress injuries after using it. Looks like people need to do stretching excersizes prior to playing vid games with that console. Some are even suggesting not playing with it unless you get regular physical activity, i.e. exercise ;) There's a ton of articles when you search google. The following being one of them. http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/26/hard-hitting-news-wsj-warns-of-wii-related-injuries/ - Tue, 5 Dec 2006 9:36pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | No shit?!? Sigh, but yes, you gotta do stretching exercises before using the controller. You do the same thing you do for not getting Carpal Tunnel Syndrome using your keyboard. - Tue, 5 Dec 2006 11:28pm
Shaggy User Info... | Could be a good trend though for all the gaming fatties. They'll actually get a workout playing a game. Maybe Nintendo can hook up with Jenny Craig or something ;) - Tue, 5 Dec 2006 11:41pm
!The Squash Avenger! User Info... | just to let you guys know, you cant get tennis elbow from the wii. tho you can over exert your shoulder and arms from it. Tennis elbow is developed thru repetitve strenious motion(ie REAL WORLD tennis/ sports). How you contract it is from the shock absorbed from the ball*(any racquet sport) making contact with the racquet head and that shock being sent thru the racquet and up your arm. Sounds kinda goofy but i deal with it all day at my shop*(racquet sport specialty). As for teh other injuries, get off your lazy asses and exercise... Also, playing thses games for hours on end will strain your arms quite badly. An average 'match' of tennis lasts upto(amatuer level)90min. Usually court bookings are for 1 hour slots so you cant normally finish. Wii players are using these consoles for hours on end, thus injuring themselves. stupid is as stupid does... but aside from all that crap, I WANT ONE!!! they have a wicked squash game for it in the monkey ball2 game...and i happen to be a fairly competitve squash player to boot!! - Thu, 14 Dec 2006 5:07pm
