ska-t User Info... | SONY/BMG nailed for paying off radio execs.. http://www.fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=103228 - Wed, 27 Jul 2005 6:50am
lonemonk User Info... | I was shocked that people (CBC radio for one) were shocked by this revelation. Its well known that payola never stopped, it just switched hands on who was perpetrating it. Rather than band managers and the like handing it directly to Jockeys, even since the post-alan freid days it became slimy lawyers handing it to top brass or station management. I would imagine that it has been made somewhat legit with invoices and the like so that these things are more difficult to question. There's a great urban legend about how Pink Floyd decided to NOT pay to have The Wall played. They figured they were large enough to not have to worry about it. No radio play... Hmmmm... As the lore goes, within hours of paying up the North American airwaves were saturated with Another Brick in the Wall. - Wed, 27 Jul 2005 8:44am
