Message Board > Controversy and Quarantine > CSIS interrogation - Omar Khadr |
trevor corey User Info... | http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQHFFbD_-Pg&feature=related I really don't know what to think of this. So many different perspectives. Omar was in a house in a battle against American soldiers. Everyone in the house was killed. When US soldiers entered to secure the house, a fifteen year old Omar jumped up from under a pile of ruble to throw a grenade which killed an American medic. Omar was shot, captured, taken to hospital, and has resided in Guantanamo for six years. I don't support imperialism, but I do support our young troops in Afghanistan, and I guess if I have to pick sides, I'd say poor kid, but throw away the key. I'm a Canadian, he fought for my country's enemy. He fail at life. .....don't torture the poor fucker though. - Fri, 18 Jul 2008 3:31am

Jl User Info... | what if your family/friends were shot and killed right in front of your eyes? As a child; Im sure he didn't understand the ramifications of his actions(an assumption i know). At that age its hard to understand the way the world is working when all you know is living in a constant state of awareness for the next bomb falling on your house/village/city/street. Im certainly not condoning his actions; but I can understand how people can percieve him as not being a "terrorist"(a word which is tossed around a little too much these days). I dont know if I would've reacted any differently if i was in that situation. - Tue, 22 Jul 2008 2:00pm Edited: Tue, 22 Jul 2008 2:02pm
trevor corey User Info... | I'm not saying that his actions were wrong. I'm just saying sometimes you have to pick sides. I choose to side with the Canadian troops in Afghanistan, he chose the Taliban. He is not a terrorist in my eyes, more of a prisoner of war, victim of circumstance, whatever. - Tue, 22 Jul 2008 2:26pm
Chopper User Info... | How can he 'choose' the Taliban and not be a terrorist? That's some extremely flawed logic. - Tue, 22 Jul 2008 2:48pm
trevor corey User Info... | The Taliban were the government of Afghanistan at the time, that's how. You've been brainwashed to see them as purely a terrorist organization. - Tue, 22 Jul 2008 3:11pm
Chopper User Info... | The Taliban were a terrorist organization long before they governed Afghanistan. They only Ruled the country from 96 to 01. The Taliban were supported by the US government during the cold war, which was long before they came to power. I'm brainwashed...right. Learn your world history before you accuse someone of being brainwashed... - Tue, 22 Jul 2008 4:04pm
