stand up and you will be shot down

stand up and a giant demon will grin at the audacity and mortally blacklist you from any construct of the world of private property

stand up and the monster will make the rest of your life free of freedom from oppression; will attack your friends and family with the threat of rape and murder for the rest of their days.

essentially, the only point of productiveness comes when there is nothing left to lose. Even all the shopping cart people have too much shit. The drug dealers and the cops come from the same retardation- the world is fucked so I'll do what I have to to get by... the cops believe the meaning of life too far so they content themselves with the little lies of those who maintain 'order'... the drug dealers pretend they are helping people see God while they profit off the addiction of the naive... the whole while both are controlled by a delusion that they are allowed to be mean in the furthering of their jobs....

so the question is- "What assets do we hold back in the hopes that we'll get a life apart from the monster?"

/what if you CAN live with the monster? who said we all HAVE to live without this 'monster'? Your making assumptions that we all want this 'monster' gone... well bud, sorry to say that Im all for monsters and they're equal rights. Maybe next time you should think of all those 'monsters' that deserve a second chance!

Monsters are not "fake". They are very real, they can be found hunting wolves in Northern Alberta. - Tue, 11 Mar 2008 6:46pm Edited: Tue, 11 Mar 2008 6:47pm

Kyle, it's interesting that you call materialism "the ultimate absurdity", yet your user profile photo is of an enormous (and very expensive!) Orange/ Marshall guitar rig. Obviously you are proud of this possession.

Trev, I was in a house doing a job today, looked up and saw a white wolf hanging above the mantle. Yes, a real white wolf (well the pelt, you know what I mean). It was truly sickening. I have hunted for food with my bare hands, and I have been a commercial fisherman. I have no illusions regarding our place in the order of things. I do believe that the human race must come first, and that there are likely to be casualties along the way. I for one do not miss the wooly mammoth, the saber tooth tiger, or the moa, however it is a shame about the dodo.

Having said that, I believe that going out and shooting an inoffensive creature purely for bragging rights is hubris of the highest order, and has no place in our (supposedly) enlightened society. I can't believe anyone would have such an offensive item right in their living room. I put it up there with a swastika. - Tue, 11 Mar 2008 7:01pm Edited: Tue, 11 Mar 2008 7:06pm

I saw a older, foreign looking woman with a dead rodent of some kind hanging off her neck a while ago. It was pretty wierd, the face & eyes n' stuff. It wasn't pleasant to look at, more upsetting than anything.
I couldn't figure out what someone could find attractive about it. The fur maybe if you remove yourself from the reality of it all, but the face, eyes, ears of a dead animal hanging just under your face? I don't get it. It was creepy, not pretty. Haunting. - Tue, 11 Mar 2008 8:06pm

yes i meant "their" trev. .... and DONT TASE ME BRO!!!! lol

I just want to elaborate on the whole wolf pelt being in the living room(which I must say I dont approve of simply because its obveous that the animal wasn't used for survival, ie, food). What if(speaking hypothetically) that pelt was a bear pelt, and that person DID use the meats to live off of rather than going out to a store and buying pre-packed meats? Then decided that the pelt would be well used as a rug or blanket? nevertheless, if it were on 'display' would that make the pelt use, in your eyes, terrible? or would it be ok because the meat and excess was used in a fashion of survival*(ie, eating/food etc...)?
I only ask cause my father-in-law has a big ass bear pelt in his house that he shot; and ate the meats and used the fat for whatever he used it for(i cant remember at this time). But Im torn inbetween thinking that its wrong to display an animal like that(as we wouldn't like it if an animal put our skin on display and showcased it to other animals); but im also levelled out by the thought that the bear, while it was shot as a recreational hunt, was used to its full capacity for its meat. What im saying i guess, is that Im pretty on the fence around this whole issue; but, if an animal is mercilessly shot and only used as a showcase is certainly wrong. Where do we draw the line? - Wed, 12 Mar 2008 12:06pm Edited: Wed, 12 Mar 2008 12:13pm

Yeah, you bring up an interesting point, one that shows how nothing in this world can simply be black or white. It's a tough call. Back in NZ in the late eighties early nineties the country literally went broke, and the only job I could find was running a sheep farm. (No jokes please, I've heard them all.)

I was trying to save money to get out and come to Canada, so one day decided to kill a lamb, butcher it, and stick it in my freezer. One small lamb would feed me for almost a month, and I was able to trade some of the meat for vegetables, eggs, etc. I also tanned and preserved the skin, although I had no idea what to do with it at the time. (I believe it became a pair of slippers.)

So I don't know. I don't feel that I needed to kill that lamb in order to survive, but it's death made my survival much easier. In your Father- in Law's instance, I'd have to say as it was a recreational hunt as you said, it (in my opinion) falls into the category of needless slaughter. I'm glad that at least the animal's remains were put to use.

There are times when one must cull for the sake of the greater good (like they should do with the deer here on the island, they're becoming quite the menace), or one must kill for survival. I don't believe that we need to prove manhood or anything else by going out and needlessly killing an animal, especially when the odds are so clearly stacked in favour of the hunter.

I just had a thought: How about the hunters use non- toxic paintballs? It would be similar in principal to fishing's catch and release policy, and if the joy is truly in the hunt, then why the need for trophies? - Wed, 12 Mar 2008 5:28pm

Just to clarify, I am NOT calling out hunters. I am calling out wolf hunters. They are not noble or honorable in any way shape or form. Nobody eats wolf meat. They are shot as "trophies". The manner in which they are killed is also despicable. The "hunters" wait until the winter months when the wolves are starving, then bait them to their heated, comfy bluffs and shoot them, or even worse catch them in horrendous trap lines. Currently they are advertising a "no bag limit". - Wed, 12 Mar 2008 6:22pm Edited: Wed, 12 Mar 2008 6:23pm

yeah fair enuff sum. You at least know what its like to live off what you, in essence, catch.
I do think the paintball idea is kinda neat.. (nomination for a darwin award for the person with enuff kahuna's to go up and shoot a bear with a paintball gun).

And I do agree with you trev. its just that i've always thought about the above statement i posted and figured id see what everyone else thinks.
Besides your right; wolf meat isn't exactly a common delecasy(sp?) so why the fuck killem? - Wed, 12 Mar 2008 9:59pm
