KSuga User Info... | So i was watching the news the other day.... ( like last week i haent been really around computer) and a guy has made what he corncerns himself with as art... but a crusafix with santa clause on the cross (kind of like jesus i guess) This is in plain view infront of his house. LIFE SIZE. http://www.canada.com/victoriatimescolonist/news/story.html?id=235722b6-d4d7-48fc-b73a-a24dff1f4792 Long link.... i know... but do you consider this art? or ufair for young children to walk by and see santa on a cross right before christmas... >k< I think it is art... no one has really done it before and it will take people to realise or understand FULLy the meaning Jimmy there was trying to pull off.... and not everyone likes the same kind of art.... - Tue, 12 Dec 2006 11:38am
Mofo User Info... | santa fuckin deserves it, that fucker has fucked me over so many times... But it is art, if your a kid then its not so much art. I think most kids now a days would consider it funny anyways. - Tue, 12 Dec 2006 11:49am
lonemonk User Info... | Thats awesome. Santa is a corporate shill working for Coca Cola anyway. - Tue, 12 Dec 2006 12:28pm Edited: Tue, 12 Dec 2006 12:29pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | There's a statement behind that, so yes it is art. - Tue, 12 Dec 2006 12:48pm
Inhalien User Info... | Art to me is more like painting a picture or making a sculpture. Nailing a Santa costume to a cross is not art or making a statement, its being an asshole. - Tue, 12 Dec 2006 1:14pm
mica User Info... | What! Did somebody hurt Santa? - Tue, 12 Dec 2006 1:51pm
trevor corey User Info... | I couldn't support this more. Total art. Art not for profit, but art with an incredibly valid point and reflection on society. Last year my wife almost got mowed down in a parking lot by an insane menapausal baby boomer, who instead of apologizing, just snarled like it was my wifes fault for being a pedestrian, then someone did a hit and run on my car. Merry fucking Christmas. Can't buy me love. oh, and MOFO, you're hilarious. Santa used to fuck me over too. Christmas morning with dad, then a 14 hour bus trip to spend Christmas night with moms. It's such a bad joke. - Tue, 12 Dec 2006 2:26pm
Laprider User Info... | it is art, but remember...ol Santa has a sense of humor, and he drinks scotch sometimes with Jimmy Wright so he was in on this one....yes Santa took some money from Coca Cola, geez it was the depression and he could barely feed the elves, we all make mistakes. I'll be talking to fat boy tonite, he wants me to score some bud for him, so no naysaying or I'll tell him you been naughty! Hey T/C i Know its 15 a gram u do 2 for 25 for the big guy? - Tue, 12 Dec 2006 2:31pm Edited: Tue, 12 Dec 2006 2:32pm
trevor corey User Info... | I guess the commercialization of Christmas isn't totally Santa's fault, really it's those dang babyboomers trying to move in on Santa's turf. Sure, Santa can have the cute girl special, $20 for a full 3.5 grams. But there better be a bottle of 32 year old Glennuggie under my tree. - Tue, 12 Dec 2006 3:04pm Edited: Tue, 12 Dec 2006 3:08pm
Mofo User Info... | that fucker still gets the bitches, love em or hate him. - Tue, 12 Dec 2006 3:11pm

XY-SNOWBUDDY User Info... | ^^^^^ Well I guess we know what she's asked for from Santa ! THE NORTH POLE ! Ho Ho fucking HO!! - Tue, 12 Dec 2006 3:46pm
trevor corey User Info... | OMG! Last night someone stole the Santa in question. RCMP found him, but the artist doesn't want him back. The RCMP doesn't have room for him, soooooooooooooooooooooo... SANTA IS HOMELESS! - Tue, 12 Dec 2006 5:31pm Edited: Tue, 12 Dec 2006 5:39pm
KSuga User Info... | Hey Inhalien... art doesnt have to be a picture or sculpture.... People make living art all the time... abstact stuff... I dont think buddy was being an asshole ... If your affended by it... well just dont look i guess.... but consider this... Christmas is a CHRISTIAN holiday... it is to celbrate the life of christ... whom later at easter was crusified ... i am sure you know this story... it is just a VISUAL statement a piece of art showing that christmas shouldnt be about toys and gifts that santa brings you... it is about christ. I think he makes a valid point. Just really sucks if your a kid i guess... a little traumatic for the younge ones..... but just cause you dont like it... doesnt mean it isnt art - Tue, 12 Dec 2006 7:24pm Edited: Tue, 12 Dec 2006 7:26pm
Steve User Info... | I think Jimmy Wright is just looking for attention. He's not a good painter and this is not good art. It's a cheap publicity stunt. This is just a mediocre artist flipping the finger at Christmas-so what! To me, the only thing that is really offensive about all this is how public it has beome thru the media. The message isn't new and the presentation is not what I would call "clever". It's just mean-spirited, clumsy and self-righteous. We all know that Christmas is too commercial but people do invest a lot of personal meaning, love and hope in these symbols. To me, Jimmy's "gesture" is arrogant and disrespectful. There are more effective ways too communicate this idea. Yes, Christmas is too commercial Charlie Brown but Linus is still a far more eloquent and persuasive messenger. - Wed, 13 Dec 2006 12:13am
mikey User Info... | too true man. Steve here has it 100% correct. - Wed, 13 Dec 2006 5:48pm
Jeremy Baker User Info... | I think Steve nailed it. - Wed, 13 Dec 2006 8:32pm
Mofo User Info... | taste is the enemy of art, and while some will say that its a tasteless display, it sure as hell got the attention he was looking for didn't it? - Wed, 13 Dec 2006 10:28pm
::Saint:: User Info... | As a Christian, I have to say I personally applaud the thing - the commercialization of Christmas is one thing, and a very serious thing, but it goes beyond that for me. Christmas has never been a Biblical holiday, even before it was commercialized - not once in the Bible is it ever mentioned, so the fact that Churches spend so much time and money on making it the "high holy day" they like to think it is, to me is really disgusting. The image of Santa on the cross to me signifies the fact that Christmas has basically taken Christ off of the cross and put Santa there instead, and this is true even (or especially) of Christian(ist)s. Then, in the spirit of Christmas everybody wracks up their credit cards and creates a self-induced slavery to debt for the sake of buying a bunch of crap that nobody appreciates (remembers a year later) anyway. It just seems so contrary to anything Jesus ever taught. A lot of Christians get offended when they see "X-Mas" signs, claiming that people are taking the 'Christ' out of Christmas, but I actually prefer it that way - at leat it's honest, and accurate. - Wed, 20 Dec 2006 12:58pm
jeff User Info... | "not once in the Bible is it ever mentioned" thats probably a good thing - Wed, 20 Dec 2006 7:45pm
Uklear Holocausto User Info... | This "art" only makes sense if you equate Santa with Greed.... To me, this only represents a hatred of empathy and giving of gifts out of good intention. This just seems to me like a hillarious idea that for some reason the "artist" seemed worthy to carry to fruition. - Wed, 20 Dec 2006 10:17pm
Swingin' Joe User Info... | A couple days back, I walked upstairs into my living room, and the first thing I saw on the news was...Nazi ginger breadmen, at a rally zig heiling a gingerbread Hitler. I laughed out loud, it bummed alot of people out on the street. Who would make such a thing? But yeah, buddy tried to pawn it off as art to. I bet the art store window, has or will be smashed soon. - Wed, 20 Dec 2006 11:34pm Edited: Wed, 20 Dec 2006 11:41pm

Destroy_The_Flesh User Info... | I find the idea of Santa's everywhere being nailed to things to be the best in the world! Fuck Christmas Weeeeeeeeeeee Now give me presents - Thu, 21 Dec 2006 5:47pm
Mace User Info... | You know, the whole thing about the pigs stealing the guys artwork, and 'artist' buddy (whatever the fuck his name is..?) says, "I was about to take it down anyway.. before it was stolen.." The guy was obviously, under police intimidation. - Thu, 21 Dec 2006 8:53pm
