Message Board > Controversy and Quarantine > Raimondo's Bizarre Equivocations over Hezbollah |
Lordpatch User Info... | Raimondo's Bizarre Equivocations over Hezbollah bob finch http://groups.yahoo.com/group/togethernet/ Let's rewind a tad. Hezbollah arrests two Jewish soldiers in Lebanon and the racist Jews-only state in Palestine (Jos) uses this as a pretext to launch a pre-planned, totally disproportionate, attack deliberately targeting innocent Lebanese citizens and aiming to turn southern Lebanon into a wasteland. These racist attacks recently culminated in the slaughter of innocent Lebanese people, many of whom were children, in Qana. One might have thought this was as blatant an example of a black and white moral issue as it is possible to get in international politics. But not according to Justin Raimondo who argues that Hezbollah is as bad as the Jos. ... Raimondo rightly points out that Hezbollah doesn't hide behind civilians whilst attacking the racist Jos. "Hezbollah doesn't trust noncombatants, and for that reason keeps well away from them no matter what their religious, ethnic, or political affiliations. " (Justin Raimondo `Israel and 'Moral Equivalence'' http://www.antiwar.com/justin/?articleid=9459 August 2, 2006). He also points out that the Jews' slaughter of innocent civilians is rooted in Judaism by quoting a recent statement issued by the Yesha Rabbinical Council: "According to Jewish law, during a time of battle and war, there is no such term as 'innocents' of the enemy. All of the discussions on Christian morality are weakening the spirit of the army and the nation and are costing us in the blood of our soldiers and civilians." Nasrullah is a religious pluralist who has sought a political rapprochement with Lebanese Christians. "Like Sadr, however, he (Nasrullah) fully understood the multitude of Lebanon's confessional system, never once calling for an Islamic state in Lebanon, and always proclaiming to be a firm believer in the right of all Lebanese, regardless of religion, to live in harmony." (Sami Moubayed `Lebanon guided by the Nasrullah factor' Asia Times February 26, 2005). full article: http://vancouver.indymedia.org/?q=node/1957 - Wed, 9 Aug 2006 5:55am | ||
