Akylore User Info... | "Anyways. The new Slayer sucks. They will never be good ever again. REAL controversy." Yeah...I still like the high-school classics such as "Reign in Blood" and "Seasons in the Abyss" and all that shit, and their "Decade of Agression" live album of '92 is probably still one of my favorite live albums. But the spirit of old is long gone to me. "God hates us all," what a pathetic album title. I remember coming across some music video of some skate/punk band, and it had Kerry King suddenly appear out of nowhere in the midst of ollies and 360s, he looked up in the sky with a bright light shining upon him and then he magically had a guitar in his hands when he then proceeded to thrash about, it was....ecccch....so WRONG. Once upon a time, Metallica and Slayer were good bands... - Tue, 20 Jun 2006 2:11am
Platoon User Info... | If you don't like DEICIDE, you're Christian! There I said it! Hahaha. Am I being serious? Only enough to piss you off! - Wed, 21 Jun 2006 3:03am

Deicide are a bunch of christians making fun of satanists. Truth. - Wed, 21 Jun 2006 7:01pm
Akylore User Info... | "If you don't like DEICIDE, you're Christian! There I said it!" LOL I LOVE IT!!!! - Thu, 22 Jun 2006 2:49am
Swingin' Joe User Info... | "if you hate that...there's a rumour he's guesting on the new My Chemical Romance cd for a solo." As terrible as that is supposed to be, why is it really a big deal? I mean yeah it seems like a very far stretch for Kerry King to do some work with pop punk and faux goth bands, but wouldn't you rather see an emo/pop punk kid converted and showing a liking to Slayer, then wallowing in their own self pity? Mind you they could be just doing it because it's the "scene" thing to do. Regardless, if a few more Slayer albums are sold, then all the power to them. Then again, I'm sure Van Halen fans were chocked when Eddie played with MJ on Beat It.I don't know, I'm not big on these metal ethos, but it's just a thought.Later. - Thu, 22 Jun 2006 6:34am
castro's dad User Info... | So what's the fucking story with you "metal dudes"? - Thu, 22 Jun 2006 4:07pm Edited: Thu, 22 Jun 2006 4:08pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | Further proof Glen Benton is a christian trying to infiltrate the metal scene since Deicide's inception. Pure poserdom personified. As for Kerry King on an MCR cd...I don't think any kid will be converted to metal after hearing just that. The kind of people who listen to My Chemical Romance are willfully ignorant to good music, and thus will never stray away. The most they'll give it is a "tee hee a scary metal slayer person is on my record lolz!". - Thu, 22 Jun 2006 9:27pm
Swingin' Joe User Info... | Haha, you never know man. - Thu, 22 Jun 2006 10:24pm
Mutilashawn User Info... | no one should be EXPOSED to any metal via mass media. keep things underground. struggle to find your music. I don't want more pissant fools into good music. - Thu, 22 Jun 2006 11:03pm
Lordpatch User Info... | well said multishawn, the same people who have gotten into 80's hair metal bands via much and mtv are now into punk rock (jock rock). who would have thought that, after all that, that metal would become less corperate and more radical than punk rock? john lydon for one - Fri, 23 Jun 2006 8:36am
Platoon User Info... | 'Struggle to find your music' oh yeah! You struggle with that internet connection! Struggle with it! I want some hardcore straight edge struggling! No pussies allowed! You have to STRUGGLE! fuck. - Sat, 24 Jun 2006 11:10am

Nik Olaz User Info... | I think Mutilashawn means that he thinks that the traditionalism of keeping metal "underground" should apply... - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 12:29am
Akylore User Info... | Yeah everybody has some points about these sorts of things. I hear SJ's point to some degree....for example, I still like Opeth even though they jumped to Roadrunner. Their music is still good and I enjoy listening to it, the new album's good too. However, I will not bother seeing Opeth live again. I don't know, despite their strong death-metal qualities they really do have more of a doom-rock style to their compositon. Therefore, seeing a band like that with Katatonia, Solstice, or even forest-metal bands like Agalloch or Woods of Ypres would be more appropriate. But no, even with the resume of metal labels Opeth had, even though this band could have easily jumped to Nuclear Cash or Century McDonald's, they jumped to Roadrunner so that they could play with fucking AC/DC worshippers like FIREBALL MINISTRY. Call me crazy, listening to Opeth on my discman on the long winter bus ride up through Northern BC for the holidays was more enjoyable. I have a hard time getting into the depair and melancholic feel of it all when you have people picking up pennies and air puching to "WHEN." Fuck, it ruined the whole show for me. Next thing you know Roadrunner is going to factory-press metallic-reflective-promo-stickers on the CD wrap of their next fucking album displaying, "The next evolution of Doom Core" Anyways, that's why it's a big deal to me. - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 3:14am
black and white User Info... | A few years ago when I started to notice the increasing profile of the "rape metal" scene in Van, I started dating this girl who eventually confided to me that she had been raped as a teenager. I soon learned and witnissed first hand what it did to her and how it impacted her life. It was only then that that I started to get pissed off. Because it seems like these bands where laughing at my girfriend. My girfriend who went through hell is a joke and subject matter for some shitty band. Pissed me right off. fucking assholes - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 1:07pm
Mutilashawn User Info... | Keep metal underground, simple as that ... leave the rock star bullshit up to the rock star bullshitters. - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 4:48pm
Platoon User Info... | Rockstars who wear corpse paint or bullet belts? Rockstars who take self portraits of themselves and paste them all over their work? Don't be a hypocrite. Open up your eyes and realize that bullshit doesn't choose sides, it is everywhere. Metal heads need to cut this holier than thou bullshit. Fucking jokes. - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 6:11pm

Anonymous User Info... | I'd reccomend the documentary "Metal: A head bangers journey" to all the narrow-minded people who dislike metal for no good reason, or for anymone. I found it pretty kick ass. - Sun, 25 Jun 2006 11:35pm

Mutilashawn User Info... | metal deserves an elite status, that's all I'm saying. once it finds its way to the mainstream it undeniably becomes watered down and MARKETED!!! thus, it is no longer about creating music but a marketable product. take In Flames for example ... obviously no one who respects themself as a fan of metal can deny their steady musical decline, which just happens to coincide with their affiliation with none other than Roadrunner Records (boo hiss) and the Revolver magazine scene. it has nothing to do with a "holier than thou" attitude - it has everything to do with me not wanting to see the music that I care about in the hands of trend-jumpers and other like-minded poseurs. - Mon, 26 Jun 2006 3:33pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | [SARCASM]I'm sure if someone made fun of metal to your face Platoon, you wouldn't get "holier than thou".[/SARCASM] - Mon, 26 Jun 2006 6:18pm
Platoon User Info... | Nik, I used to, in high school. I don't quite agree with you Shawn. Trends are everywhere. I don't agree that there is an absolute correlation between marketing, popularity, and the quality of a band's music. - Wed, 28 Jun 2006 3:32am
Mutilashawn User Info... | that's fine, we'll leave it at that. - Wed, 28 Jun 2006 10:21am
Suffuckation User Info... | No we won't. Start fighting again. - Wed, 28 Jun 2006 12:49pm
Destroy_The_Flesh User Info... | If people where more interested in enjoying life and music than bitching about its percieved value we might have something. I see no difference between Inflames and Roadrunner and supposed "Underground" labels and their CLONE bands. How many Unique Leader bands can you tell apart. Turn it to 11! - Wed, 28 Jun 2006 12:53pm Edited: Wed, 28 Jun 2006 12:59pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | Unique Leader is the furthest thing from underground. That entire label is nothing bus Cubase tricks. - Wed, 28 Jun 2006 6:07pm
Akylore User Info... | "How many Unique Leader bands can you tell apart." LOL I think Psycroptic is one of the more unique (apart from brutal) bands on that label. Goregasm's a little more innovative for goregrind as well, in my opinion. Actually Agiel is really trippy considering there's keyboard solos mixed in with the Brutality. Hmmm...they do have some 'sore thumbs' of sorts that stick out from the rest... - Wed, 28 Jun 2006 7:00pm Edited: Wed, 28 Jun 2006 7:00pm
Platoon User Info... | That Benton pic is seriously unnerving. It's so eerie after it stops being funny. Maybe it's the serene look on Benton's face, maybe it's the photoshopped hand, too queer. - Thu, 29 Jun 2006 3:30am Edited: Thu, 29 Jun 2006 3:31am
Destroy_The_Flesh User Info... | Paycroptic and Spawn of Posession are both on Neurotic Records - Fri, 30 Jun 2006 12:14am
Nik Olaz User Info... | Thank god they jumped ship. - Fri, 30 Jun 2006 5:54pm
Platoon User Info... | 'Paycroptic', intentional misspelling? Hmmm... - Fri, 30 Jun 2006 6:19pm
Destroy_The_Flesh User Info... | I didn't even notice that Paycroptic Baked again - Tue, 4 Jul 2006 3:08pm
