Ok you all knew i would have to say something about this....so Motley Crue has had a "Fill" in drummer for the last leg of thier tour because Tommy Lee has tendinitis. They got some dude named Harvey from a Motley Crue tribute band in Calgary to cover shift. Yeah i know i could say a shit load about how jealous this makes me...but to be the better (envious) man - Congrats Harvey...you asshole....errr i mean, you lucky dude you.

Since this thread is about controversy, then how do people feel about this:

Is it a valid claim to demand your ticket money back since you actually paid to see Motley Crue and not 3/4 of Motley Crue and some dude? Not that i am going to do that...i still love them all the same but just wondering what legalities and/or rights the show goer has when these kinda changes occur.

-The Stef out.

Yeah and I heard they had a webcast last night and Tommy's leg is bugging him as well as his wrist so he prolly won't drum for Victoria. Not too pleased as I was looking forward to watching him play. If they don't cancel the show completely, then no money back for tickets. Samantha Maloney drummed for them when Tommy wasn't in the band but she is an awesome Crue drummer too.. I think Stef should drum for the Victoria show. - Thu, 6 Apr 2006 12:44pm Edited: Thu, 6 Apr 2006 12:51pm

can't say I see the problem with replacing a drummer so the show goes on. I don't demand 1/30 th of my ticket price back when the Canucks put in a back up goalie...I know,... different shit, but as long as the drummer can keep up with them and they sound the same, whats the dif? - Fri, 7 Apr 2006 10:31am Edited: Fri, 7 Apr 2006 10:34am

I suppose it depends on your connection with certain members. For example when Dime was alive ((R.I.P.)) would it still have been a Pantera show if Dime-bag had a broken wrist and couldn't perform so instead they got some dude to fill in? To most people i know...i know drummers just hit shit with sticks, but to those who actually take time and listen, analyze and educate themselves they know that drummers are an integral piece of the sound, from timing, groove, intensity, aggresion, style and of course dynamics, but what do i know? - LOL.

Motley definitly isn't the same without Tommy. - Fri, 7 Apr 2006 11:25am Edited: Fri, 7 Apr 2006 11:34am

They didn't ask you to drum?!? Wassup with that?!? I saw a story about it on CBC Newsworld, and naturally I was expecting you to be interviewed. :) - Sat, 8 Apr 2006 1:47am Edited: Sat, 8 Apr 2006 1:48am

I think it's got to be all or nothing. If my favourite band had a replacement member I would be upset. A band is a band for a reason. - Mon, 10 Apr 2006 4:16pm Edited: Mon, 10 Apr 2006 4:19pm

if that were the case, how many bands would never have gone any farther....some bands are better off with the new members.

Geez, look at Kiss! After Peter and Ace left, they sold even more albums. But that's probably because they put out way more albums. - Mon, 10 Apr 2006 9:44pm Edited: Mon, 10 Apr 2006 9:45pm

When I saw Motley a few years ago when they we're on tour with the Scorpions. Randy Castillio (RIP) from Ozzy's Ultimate Sin era was on drums. He blew Tommy away so much. - Tue, 11 Apr 2006 9:09pm Edited: Tue, 11 Apr 2006 9:12pm

From where I was sitting in the stadium, I could see Tommy airdrumming behind Harvey for the whole set, so it was pretty easy to imagine him actually sitting at the drums anyway. - Wed, 12 Apr 2006 10:48pm Edited: Wed, 12 Apr 2006 10:49pm

Green Day doesn't have any new members? They have a guy, Jason Swartzwhatever, who plays with them live now. Billie doubles all his guitar tracks in the studio. I don't think Jason makes them better, I think it allows BJ to be more (too much) of a front man, and permits him to be lazier with his guitar parts.

Why is this controversial?

Crue is still Crue. Tommy doesn't make or break it for me, when all the other elements are there. I'd see them while Mick is still able to stand for 10 minutes at a time. - Tue, 9 May 2006 8:14pm
