Easily the best *sounding* and played:
Steely Dan: downtown portland (Can't remember the theatre name)

Other favs:
Clinton Fearon in market square
Burning Spear (Especially the show at the forge of all places, normally that place sounds like shit). This show was to die for.

Believe it or not, I took my sis to Weird Al years ago, he and his band kicked ass on all the chumps he's making fun of. I was surprised they were that good live. - Wed, 22 Mar 2006 10:03pm Edited: Wed, 22 Mar 2006 10:10pm

Denver, I was mostly referring to the whole Clash Of The Titans package in that case. The feel of that entire show was pretty fucking cool, even during Alice In Chains. Not even half my list were mind blowing experiences, but they have been the best so far in my experience which is what this thread is about.
I forgot to mention Queens Of The Stone Age both times I saw them and Motorhead here in Victoria on my 20-somethingith birthday. - Thu, 23 Mar 2006 4:13pm Edited: Thu, 23 Mar 2006 4:16pm

This list could be way too huge, so I'll just stick with the highlights...

Pantera/Slayer in Van for the Reinventing the Steel tour

Slayer at the Commodore, probably my alltime fave venue

Weird Al Yankovic at the Royal Theatre a few years back... awesome show

Cannibal Corpse at the Starfish room in Van for the Gallery of Suicide tour

Lamb of God/Fear Factory/Children of Bodom at the commodore a couple of years ago... well worth the concussion I got from it

Motorhead at the curling club a few years back

and as for local...

The millenium newyears party at the Tolmie Hell House... Meatlocker 7, Gorilla Monsoon and Birth of Sickness... the stories that came out of that show... damn [remembering the guy going around the party asking people to sew his head up cuz he kept smashing it into the center pole on the chain link fence]

the list goes on... but for now, it ends here

Best shows... I'd have to say, even though I don't really like "screamo" because it's getting tiresome, but.. Alexisonfire did really good when they played almost a year ago.. Also I got to meet Dallas Green after which was cool.... Other than that... the best show ever well... The Mars Volta really blew me away when they opened for System of a Down.. the vocals were just f*in amazing... hee hee Motley Crue.. I must admit they surprised me... I was being a bit pessimistic about them and trying to compare them to their "Carnival of sins" dvd but no, they did a pretty damn good job and EEK Tommy Lee was like right above my head on some platform thing.. Haha when they played "Anarchy in the U.K".. good memories there.. ohhhhhh yeah! I heard Megadeth was coming to Victoria.. is this at all true?

Keep on rockin in the free world-

The OAP Hall was on the corner of Pandora & Government st. It was one of the first venues to host All-Age punk gigs. It has since been converted into condos.... imagine that? The FOE on view and the Army & Navy on Store st. and the Fernwood com cent as well as the Leonardo Davinci where also venues. but the OAP had the most personallity. It was old big and the stage had a picture of the Queen on the back of the wall.

I forgot ACCUSED @ OAP,

The Fernwood still pumps them all-agers out. That venue must have hosted shows for twenty years now,

HEY NIK OLAZ..... who do you want to "Shut The Fuck Up"? and why? Be more specific man...

Tyler, it's not called "Hang the dj" it's called "Panic", and I like that song and think it's one of the best Smiths songs (based on personal taste), but that's my opinion and of course you have yours. And I do go to local shows, it's just the best ones I've seen happen to have been played by well-known bands... and some of the local bands well..they don't really turn my crank you might say.. - Sun, 7 May 2006 12:30pm Edited: Sun, 7 May 2006 12:33pm

Oh yeah Tyler, I heard wayne powerman, you guys are good I hope you become successful enough to kind of get back the old and kick out the new... if you know what I mean. Tired of the new "punk" shit like My Chemical Romance.. makes me sick to even use punk and MCR in the same sentence, but that's what the whole music shit's come to. Or.. I try to watch some decent television, the punk show on much, because sometimes they'll play Black Flag, Sex Pistols, The Clash, NOFX... that's SOMETIMES though, more like RARELY... or Much Loud cuz sometimes they'll play Strapping Young Lad or Gwar... but most of the bands they play on the punk show are that "new" whiney punk sound and it's just getting so tiresome. You know, involving the classic black emo hair.. plugs.. eyeliner.. Even though Green Day doesn't have that whiney sound, I sort of blame them for opening a door for the new punk... Ohhhh yeah! Anyone here want to kill Fall Out Boy?! - Sun, 7 May 2006 12:54pm

Bob Dylan was definetly a highlight, despite the fact that he didn't touch his guitar and there was some suspicion that he tucked into a few dozen drinks before going onstage. I still got weepy like an idiot.
Eagles of Death Metal at Lucky was fun, very entertaining.
KMFDM at Sugar a couple years back...that was good after some drinks (etc)

I believe the vehicle that was stolen and driven into the O.A.P. was a Datsun 240z. I was three blocks away and heard the crash, the cops used to chase back then, that reminds me, R.I.P. Ed - Thu, 15 Jun 2006 12:44am Edited: Thu, 15 Jun 2006 1:19am

I have seen some great bands but the best so far would be ISKRA, I am really disapointed I didn't get to see em again. Leper was also fucking great each time I've seen em, so was Rebel spell, and I have to say Conflict fucking kicked ass!!! they played a small show in Montreal Last year, huge compared to hear but small compared to the night before... Maybe 700 people, cramped way past fire capacity into tthis small hall... It was great.
Oh yeah and the Subhumans were really good too, only time I ever saw a 2000 person pit... - Sat, 17 Jun 2006 4:44pm

Ya that primus, Pixies, Janes Addiction show ruled. So did the Pink Floyd show as a matter of fact. The cops had actually stopped chasing Ed a few blocks before he crashed cause it was getting out of hand and they knew someone was going to get hurt. Sure enough a minute or so after they stopped he wrapped it around that tree in James bay. Fuck the funeral was brutal...... it's hard to be a tough guy when your crying so hard you cant see anything. - Sat, 17 Jun 2006 5:23pm
