scotty User Info... | is it me or is this election really boring.. great election tactic by the liberals.. if people don't care they don't vote. - Tue, 3 May 2005 9:47am
jackass User Info... | I'm more concerned with the Green and NDP parties splitting the left vote and handing the election over to the Liberals. I'm also interested in the Single Transferrable Vote. It's interesting to look at the difference between STV and First Past the Post. Not exactly exciting though... - Tue, 3 May 2005 12:20pm
Verbalsniper User Info... | There is no "Left vote" / "Right vote" anymore. Many people vote Green who would never vote NDP or Liberal, or otherwise not vote at all. (Considering the BC Liberals and NDP have both proven themselves untrustworthy, why would they?) And let's not forget the BC Liberals are themselves a coalition of voters who at other levels of government oppose each other. Well, wake up! Politics changes, and even major parties can be defeated and disappear - remember what happenned to the Socreds? Yet every bloody election we hear the same scare tactic dragged out - "don't split the vote" - from both establishment parties. Screw that - vote for whoever you want to. The days when one can simply force people to accept a 2 party system (Left or Right) are gone - the political system just hasn't caught up to that reality yet. Election results are distorted, many votes are wasted, and successive governments rule as if a majority of BC citizens support them, even though they don't. So it's no wonder the voter gets demoralized. That's why we have such low turnout. People need a system that allows more choice to pick the party they actually want instead of simply voting to stop the party they hate the most. So, if you REALLY want to change things, then make sure to vote "Yes" in the referendum so we can get an STV system instead of the current (totally broken) system we have now. - Tue, 3 May 2005 1:34pm
MonkeyWithNoBones User Info... | yeah anything political to really grab my attention really has to be chopped up and animated in flash to really make me pay attention. - Tue, 3 May 2005 2:44pm
XY-SPOIL YOUR BALLOT User Info... | Whoever said politics is suppose to be exciting ? Frankly, I hate all the theatrics, mud slinging and drama. That is the sign of a party lacking of platform, who doesn't know where they're going .I don't think you need to be chicken little every time a election comes around . It’s always easy to vilify the incumbent ,doesn’t matter who or what party they all do it ! - Tue, 3 May 2005 3:24pm
jackass User Info... | you know what sucked? the debate last night. They should change the format so each leader has to answer the question posed to them. All I saw last night was finger pointing and dodging answers. Sadly, the NDP platform seems to be concentrating on cutting down every single thing about the Liberals without actually going into any detail on what they would do differently. - Wed, 4 May 2005 12:20pm
MLT (a division of) User Info... | ya they should definately change the format if they want people to watch... physical violience (aka hockey fights) must be allowed, and it should be anything goes for the questions... they need to get down and dirty. hahaha (sighs) - Thu, 5 May 2005 1:33am
lonemonk User Info... | Philip K Dick and William Burroughs both wrote detailed stories about very average people being randomly thrust into positions of absolute power (but for definite periods of time, like 2-3 years.) As insane as that sounds, how could it possibly be worse? You would still have a certain parliament about you, and a variety of different balances. The real danger seems to come from people who have learned all to well how to abuse the system, and everyone in it! Which is exactly the type of people we vote for now. 80%+ of all career political leaders are fuckin' ex-lawyers. I truly want joe-hick from Canmore AB in charge for 2 years because I suspect he will have much more in common with me than Gordon Fuckin Campbell, or any of the other losers on the ticket. It shouldn't be any different than jury duty... Of course, career politician or random joe-shmuck should be oustable by a simple majority and/or easily produced referendum. Why should it be otherwise? - Fri, 6 May 2005 12:36am
Joie User Info... | Funny how our world is out of control and no one see's it. Weapons of mass distruction are what you people call natural disasters. None of you even considered fallowing your bloodline back to it's origin homeland. I am the Witch. - Sun, 8 May 2005 4:57pm
XY-LAMONT User Info... | My bloodline was driven out and massacred, sooooo me thinks I wont be going back to claim my homelands any time in the near future ! Maybe for a visit !LOL! - Sun, 8 May 2005 6:59pm

Joie User Info... | You made your own bed in saying that. Be careful what you say about me. All those like you will become basket cases. Karma christ satan all in one is the spirit you speak against. - Tue, 10 May 2005 10:54pm
Akylore User Info... | Ya, you know, I have to admit, the election brings to mind the issue of self-centredness...I do find it amusing how I never gave a shit about politics, until I became a student (eg Gordon Campbell = cuts in social programs = tuition raises) and then next thing I'm like, "Wow, this actually kinda affects me." I fully agree with Verbalsniper, I don't like either parties. I don't want capitalist fucks making money off the interest I pay for student loans. I barely making those payments by working for a scumfuck-american-businessman-funded call centre. I also don't want fundamentalist christian conservative fucks banning abortion, shoving "christian values" down our throats and turning this province into George Bush's northern private resort. Fuck I'm grateful we don't have that right now, I AM going to do my part. I'm fucking voting. I'm tired of this shit. This is actually something people should be thinking about... - Fri, 13 May 2005 3:08am
Joie User Info... | Amazing how people change their views when things effect them. Maybe after the US and Canada are invaded, we all will see. - Fri, 13 May 2005 6:09am
ML7Mike User Info... | if y a dont vote, ye is a fool. If ya dont like the candidates just spoil your ballot or vote for some no chance like the sexparty or the marijuana party. Its fine to not participate in the mainstream choices, but there is no better way to show your contempt for the system than by voting for the hippys, or spoiling your ballot. At least go in and write on the ballot YOU ALL SUCK. Do you think the Gordon Campbell Govt. doesnt benefit when you DONT vote? wrong. It works in their favour. Why? because all the people who do love them are voting for them, and if you dont than the chance of their numbers being higher is obvious. This goes for both the mainstream parties. Ok Im gonna go practice my Yogic Flying now. . - Fri, 13 May 2005 10:11am
Maxwell User Info... | If you spoil the ballot your just wasting your own time, you might as well not show up. I agree with the rest of your statement. Don’t leave the voting to the senior citizens. . - Fri, 13 May 2005 1:27pm
Robnöxious User Info... | I used to believe that voting for anyone beside the two main parties is a wasted vote. Actually the smaller parties do get something from every vote they get. Maybe not enough to get them in this time, but it will help as stepping stones for the next one. - Fri, 13 May 2005 4:03pm
Mi*coll* User Info... | if you are so disillusioned, go out and vote YES for the referendum. that will help out. - Fri, 13 May 2005 5:25pm
Mr. Hell User Info... | I'm voting for this lady: http://kodu.neti.ee/~nedi/babka/ Babka gets a big "X" beside her name from me. Couldn't get any worse...unless there is a violent totalitarian take over. Hmmmmm, sounds like a plan! - Fri, 13 May 2005 7:19pm
dumpstermesh User Info... | Is she wearing a foam wrapper that you'd find around a japanese pear as a visor? She's my hero...and she gets my vote. - Fri, 13 May 2005 8:55pm
XY-TROUBLE User Info... | Babka for Premier !! It's great to see her out there in the public speaking for the cause and in her native language ,Jabbernese ! I have no knowledge of her language, but Babka’s enthusiasm is most inspiring ! Go BABKA ! - Fri, 13 May 2005 9:09pm
ML7Mike User Info... | May 18th... "Weird, we have 4 votes for some Babka person.. " Lets do it! \||/ All ballots do get logged regardless of content, so spoiling them is a way of showing disdain for the present system/choices, however indirctly and weakly. But figure this. if everyone in the province who thinks voting is a waste of time or didnt like any of the choices wrote that thought on their ballot, it would get noticed. - Sat, 14 May 2005 11:13am
Mi*coll* User Info... | Right! Spoil your ballot because the election is unimportant. But the referendum IS important. - Sat, 14 May 2005 1:04pm

ska-t User Info... | News from Kitimat Walking Eagle..... Gordon Campbell was invited to address a major gathering of the Indian Nation last weekend in Kitimat. He spoke for almost an hour on his future plans for increasing every First Nation's present standard of living. He referred to his career as Mayor of Vancouver, how he had signed "YES" - for every Indian issue that came to his desk for approval. At the conclusion of his speech, the Tribe presented the Premier with a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name Walking Eagle. The proud Campbell then departed in his motorcade, waving to the crowds. A news reporter later inquired to the group of chiefs of how they come to select the new name given to Campbell They explained that Walking Eagle is the name given to a bird so full of shit it can no longer fly. - Mon, 16 May 2005 10:25am
