Robnoxious User Info... | I hate it when some bands put out more than 1 Greatest Hits albums or bands that don't deserve to have one yet (i.e. they only have 2 studio albums). Then they try and spice it up with a New song or two (that maybe weren't good enough for the studio release in the first place) to sucker us in to buy rehashed stuff again. - Wed, 28 Jan 2004 8:36pm
Zippgunn User Info... | I hate to tell you this but even Bob Dylan falls into that category. But you're right any greatest hits album with "new" songs on it is bogus. As are greatest hits albums by artists that never had ANY hits (Bif Naked for example). - Wed, 28 Jan 2004 9:07pm
Perpetual_Burn User Info... | Hendrix has more "Best of", "Greatest Hits" and collections than anyone out there....and he only recorded 3 albums. That's fucked up. - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 1:07am
ROSS B AY User Info... | ZZ TOP. - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 3:36am
69 User Info... | Hendrix recorded more than 3 albums, didn't he? - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 11:50am
joe User Info... | the worst in my opinion is David Bowie. - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 12:07pm
Brett User Info... | I surprised no one mentioned Bob Marley. He's got tons of those albums, all with the same songs on them - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 12:13pm
H User Info... | Greatest Hits albums usually have nothing to do with the bands/artists. It is something done completely by label, because they're usually the ones who have ownership of the recordings. - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 2:56pm
Brand X Media User Info... | Yeah it's usually the labels. Consider the number of Johnny Cash greatest hits albums that are out there. I know it's a hell of a lot. Though there's one set that HE released - he picked the songs and had full creative control, and it's a great collection. Bif Naked's greatest hits on the other hand....I hear they had some extra bonus tracks on that one, recorded way back when she was a he. - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 4:16pm
Robnoxious User Info... | Yeah, Bif Naked was one artist I was referring to. Mostly, I just heard of Alice In Chains offering a new retrospective (what's wrong with Nothing Safe) and Van Halen issuing another greatest hits. I know both Aerosmith and Sabbath have 5 or more each. Also I realize it's the record companies cashing in. No wonder people wanna download stuff. - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 5:07pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | every 2 or 3 years there's a new the Doors one as well. They're for when record sales lag.... - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 5:38pm
Tragedy User Info... | I don't know about you, but I want more Alice in Chains, and if they have anything new (unreleased) I could want to get my hands on it, but if it's just the same old songs, I wouldn't have much use for it. - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 6:42pm
ScottL User Info... | Barenaked ladies... if i am not mistaken has one out, and one forthcoming.... but i'm not sure. I am probably full of shit. - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 8:40pm
Broccoli User Info... | did you say biff naked use to be a man? - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 9:51pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | USED to be? - Thu, 29 Jan 2004 9:56pm
Davescene User Info... | Okay, I may get slammed, but I believe KISS is the worst. They seem to put out a greatest hits record every 5 years! They throw 2 new songs on it, that sound like crap, or for when Gene gets bored with his megalomanical Tongue magazine. I know lots of peeps that like 'em, I'm not one, though. - Fri, 30 Jan 2004 12:34pm
Isolation Ride User Info... | Zippgun: "I hate to tell you this but even Bob Dylan falls into that category". Fact:The perfect rip off of an artist is Bob Dylan totally and completely burning Arthur Guthrie,s style and voice.Lame. - Fri, 30 Jan 2004 1:05pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Actually the best example of this: Heart! - Fri, 30 Jan 2004 1:40pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | Isn't it Woody Guthrie? - Fri, 30 Jan 2004 2:18pm
Gare User Info... | Hey ScottL the Barenaked Ladies also have like 9 cds so I think that may warrent a greatest hits - Fri, 30 Jan 2004 4:43pm
Wreaker of Havoc User Info... | No Woody Harrelson. Pure genious of his art.... - Fri, 30 Jan 2004 5:04pm
--{-(X)-}-- User Info... | yeah man, what the fuck's up with that? save the release of a greatest hits until your career is done. . - Fri, 30 Jan 2004 6:08pm
Instrument of Karma User Info... | the only best of album that has new tracks on it that SHOULD be respected is Motorhead:No Remorse. It came out as a double album(records or cassette) bound in leather. lots of great Motorhead classics, and four awesome new tracks. I think they put out way to many live albums though. Does any one really buy these things thinking the sound will be cool? - Sun, 1 Feb 2004 9:35am
ScottL User Info... | gare: yup i know! love the BNL.... didn't catch on that this was to SLAM bands. just Slow witted i suppose. - Mon, 2 Feb 2004 9:14am
Zippgunn User Info... | I agree with the "No Remorse" comment. Truly the only Motorhead record that you need own if you're tight for shelf space and, as Lemmy so succinctly put it, "the only record you will own that smells like fine shoes". - Thu, 5 Feb 2004 11:04am
_Griphin_ User Info... | No Remorse was cool when it first came out, because of the extra tracks that you couldn't find on other releases (something went screwy with distribution of Motorhead albums in Canada at the time N.R. was released). But yeah, everytime Motorhead drops a label, they feel that they have to release a "Best of" compilation. If there is one definate best of album, No Remorse I give a thumbs up to! Course, now there's the boxset out, which looks really good. - Fri, 6 Feb 2004 7:17pm
Mike User Info... | ABBA have tons of greatest hits records. THEY SUCK. look on http://www.allmusic.com, this site has profiles on every musician. HADDAWAY a dance group that released a greatest hits album when the only had 1 billboard big hit. JERKS - Thu, 12 Feb 2004 11:31am
Dick Splint User Info... | You've never listened to any of Bruce Willis's stuff? Its insane. If you can find anything from his "Moonlighting" days, let me know. He really went off during that period. I think the fact that Cybil Sheppard owned most of the limelight must have really pissed him off. I always kind of hoped he'd do a tour with David Hasselhoff, but alas, it was not meant to be; sigh. - Fri, 13 Feb 2004 8:10am
Ebolavire User Info... | Hell yeah! Sing it Bruno! hmmmm... What about that tour with Bruce Willis, William Shatner and that chick from Hunter? Didn't they storm Japan and fully rock the Kasbah? - Fri, 13 Feb 2004 4:25pm
One Divided User Info... | Well I think U2 did it a good way... they had an 80s one and a 90s one.. Maybe there will be an 00s one in another 6 years lol. - Sat, 14 Feb 2004 11:33am
ROSS B AY User Info... | "maybe"? By the way, anyone ever see the Men At Work greatest hits? They had 2 albums out. Never made another one again either. We all should do that man. - Sat, 14 Feb 2004 3:59pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | Also, Pat Benatar. I got 'em both. - Sun, 22 Feb 2004 11:15am
