He's also known as the most over-rated drummer from the most over-rated band in history (next to the Beatles, and Nirvana ofcourse). - Wed, 10 Dec 2003 1:20pm

I can see calling Tool and Nirvana overrated, but not the Beatles. When someone says that the Beatles are overrated it means that they are angry about something. - Wed, 10 Dec 2003 2:00pm

At least both Tool and Nirvana have a distinct sound and can be recognized almost instantly, unlike Death Metal bands, where the average listener could never tell them apart from each other. Danny Carey is a great Drummer, I'm sure he could hold his own in a metal band if he felt like it. - Wed, 10 Dec 2003 2:27pm

Hey dont get me wrong, Danny Carey can play the drums. Really well? No. Pretty well? Yes. And there is no fucking way in Hell he could play drums for most death metal bands, I assure you of that. And yes, Tool and Nirvana have a sound that is easily recognizable. In my opinion however, both of their sounds are redundant, boring, played out,and just flat out uninteresting (Nirvana much moreso than Tool). To be honest I dont mind some Tool, but they are in no way deserved of all the critical acclaim they get IMO. Ahahah are you the same anonymous guy that went out of your way to send Jesse one of your guitar solos? That was seriously one of the most infantile, pathetic things I've ever heard of in my life. If you're not that guy, then disregard what I said. But if you are, then let me take this opportunity to tell you that you have some serious self confidence problems, bucko. - Wed, 10 Dec 2003 6:28pm

I would have to disagree. Danny would be able to hold his own in a death metal band, more so than most. Just because he doesn't do straight ahead mach 10 blast beats doesn't mean he can't cut it at metal. He's VERY above average at odd metre, polyrythms, and flat out groove. Alot of metal players just play as fast as possible and it becomes kind of stale and predictable, Danny is very unpredictable in my opinion anyways. - Wed, 10 Dec 2003 8:26pm

yeah Danny Carey could probably do pretty good in a death metal band. im a bit of a Tool fan myself so i feel the need to defend his skills. but i have to disagree with the anonymous guy, most death metal bands are easily distinguishable to unstupid people. the average listener is an ignorant moron that will listen to anything the radio puts out so i don't trust those bastards. thats why theyre called "average" listeners, they listen to "average" music that totally sucks donkey balls 98% of the time. - Wed, 10 Dec 2003 9:24pm
