anti-blue-up User Info... | Hey, just wondering if anyone knows of a good (rockin) guitar teacher in the Victoria area? I can't seem to pull up that info in the Resources section. - Thu, 13 Nov 2003 3:58am
Pierce User Info... | That all depends on how good you are to begin with. When you say you want a kick ass guitarist, do you mean one that can play the lead to Nirvana tunes or are you speaking Vai??? If you find a VAI!!! let me know!!! I could use some pointers. If you want a well educated and experienced guitar player give me a call (email). Any stlye besides Jazz. I can play Jazz if i read what i am playing but i dont know shit about it! Actually i dont know much about anything, for some reason i know how to play guitar. Weird - Thu, 13 Nov 2003 1:52pm
Nik Olaz User Info... | my advice: dont get a guitar teacher. that shit is stupid. teach yourself with the internet/ figure out what sounds good with a guitar yourself. it's way cheaper that way. honestly having a teacher did NOTHING for me, he just taught me how to play some stuff i didn't really care about that i never use. do it yourself, it's alot cooler too. - Thu, 13 Nov 2003 2:39pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | don't get Pierce he has no gear. - Thu, 13 Nov 2003 3:00pm
Jedi User Info... | If youre new to guitar, a teacher/coach can make sure your using proper technique and positions depending on what style you want to play. Guitars in common fret spacing uses the same theory for 12 note sequences for counterpoint and harmony. So if you understand theory already A few lessons in the style you are interested in could help. Now practice 12 hours a day. When you start hearing Symphonies and voices, you know its time to stop for a few days. - Thu, 13 Nov 2003 3:37pm

Zippgunn User Info... | Cheramy is a fantastic jazz guitarist and a really good teacher. A friend I know in a hardcore band takes lessons from him and recommends him highly. - Mon, 17 Nov 2003 9:22pm
Laprider User Info... | Rob Cheramy I would say is the best teacher in town...having said that I teach as well! - Thu, 20 Nov 2003 6:35am
ticklefish User Info... | and Laprider, yer a great teacher to boot. - Thu, 20 Nov 2003 6:56am
Rubber Box User Info... | You shouldnt boot your teacher, maybe flip the bird but no violence - Thu, 20 Nov 2003 8:05am
soap dodger User Info... | I'd also recommend Rob Cheramy, having taken lessons from him in the past. I learned from him when first starting out, and also more recently when I felt like I'd hit a wall. Lessons are a great way of getting new ideas and gaining a fresh outlook on your playing - definitely worthwhile, in my opinion. - Thu, 20 Nov 2003 12:12pm
Elliot User Info... | I have taken lessons with both Don Peterson and Rob Cheramy and I can say that they're both great at what they do. I was never really motivated by lessons though, because I think making time to play guitar is harder when you call it 'practice'. Just play. A lot. By the way, a lot of guitar players around town have taken lessons from Don, and I've never heard anything negative. He even found my guitar for me when I told him I was looking for a used PRS. Great guy. - Mon, 24 Nov 2003 7:52pm
