Hoffa User Info... | Tell the Victoria police or whichever municipal force according to the location of the crime. As useless as they are (they have on single constable handling all thefts for the city of Victoria and if he's on holiday you're screwed) you have to do it. Stolen items can be pawned, that is, left as collateral for a loan as opposed to being sold outright to the shop as many people mistakenly believe. No pawn shop will discuss with you items in on pawn. Items only appear in the store if the loan recipient is in arrears with payment of the loan and the item has been seized as payment. Pawn shops are required by law to furnish the local police with reports of new items they have received. They claim the police have to see the reports before they can sell the item. You must be diligent and not let the matter rest. But don't piss off the cops handling your case or you'll see little help. Be polite but constant. - Wed, 19 Nov 2003 8:54am | ||
