norm User Info... | Caught Hot Hot Heat on Conan last night and thought they kicked ass. (a rerun, though). - Sat, 25 Oct 2003 10:30am
Fred the Dragon User Info... | Well, I was reading the new Rolling Stone on the weekend, and they had an interview with Robert Smith. He said something like Hot Hot Heat sound way older than they are, because they have really mature song writing. Basically, he gave them a huge compliment, and they opened for him! - Sun, 26 Oct 2003 1:49pm
KnifeGhost User Info... | I won't pretend I'm not intensely jealous.... It would be hypocritical..... - Sun, 26 Oct 2003 10:33pm
Knoblin User Info... | They write songs for teenage hipsters. Its no crime to try to make it big but as artists, well, they're not really artists. - Mon, 27 Oct 2003 12:22am
J User Info... | personally not my kind of music, but have to give'm respect for taking it far... kudo's - Mon, 27 Oct 2003 10:36am
Fred the Dragon User Info... | Knoblin, the same could have been said about the Stones. - Mon, 27 Oct 2003 2:51pm
\m/ User Info... | I'd have to say comparing the two is completely ridiculous. Knoblin is right, you have to keep in mind HHH is a trendy scenesters wet dream, no real authenticity or new ground broken; just kind of a gimmick. It's the nature of the being trendy. Trends come only to be disposed of and replaced with something different. Ill be surprised if their fame lasts as long as one of Mick Jaggers wives nevermind the band. - Mon, 27 Oct 2003 4:10pm
Fred the Dragon User Info... | I don't disagree with you at all. My only point was that people did say that about the Stones back in the day. I don't think I made that part clear enough. - Mon, 27 Oct 2003 4:47pm
Nathan User Info... | No i think its just that the scene in victoria is mostly metal fans. Hot hot Heat are doing good and the only place i hear bad mouthing is on here. I am happy that they are doing so well. No matter what the city is, people will always bad mouth hometown talent that does better then anyone else. - Mon, 27 Oct 2003 5:26pm
\m/ User Info... | I'm not a metal fan. Not in the least. I really can't relate to it, nor would I want to. I'm not personally attacking the band or anything, but they are a trend. They're life sized parodys of themselves. Nothing new, original, inventive, or worth consideration. They've made their choice and they've chosen to be a gimmick or a trendy spectacle. Maybe I like a little depth or originality, but that seems to be asking for quite a lot nowadays. - Mon, 27 Oct 2003 5:40pm
ML7Mike User Info... | You'll notice that the 'metal fans' arent the ones judging Hot Hot HEat in this thread. And I for one think it kicks ass to see some local boys making it in the big time. Personally I think they have a The Cure vibe which isnt that bad.. - Mon, 27 Oct 2003 6:32pm
Nathan User Info... | I never said the people in this thread WERE metal heads. I just said that this scene in victoria seems to be a lot of metal. I just said thats why it seems to be more slagging on them, to me anyways. - Mon, 27 Oct 2003 7:45pm
funbrain User Info... | It's derivative, but it was a kick-ass performance. It takes balls to go in front of a N. American viewing audience of more than 20 million and really pull it off. - Tue, 28 Oct 2003 6:48am
KnifeGhost User Info... | Man, I still don't hear any Cure in HHH..... That might be because I listen to a LOT of The Cure..... I think if I was a casual fan of The Cure, rather than an uber-fan, I'd hear a lot more Cure in HHH..... - Tue, 28 Oct 2003 12:29pm
Broccoli User Info... | I've got the cure for HHH, its called a flamethrower HAWHAWHAW. Just Kidd'n, I used to dig those guys before they got a guitarist. Anyone remember the Black Vein Prophacy? Was the local grindcore band to see a few years back, same drummer as HHH & Cam from 3" of Blood was in it too... - Wed, 29 Oct 2003 9:58am
