| Blow me User Info... | I dont trust tamara as the booking contact for steamer or anywhere else. She does not give the bands the respect or pay they deserve. In my opinion the club should NEVER take more than 20% of the door. If the show is completley sold out , than the club should take very little or nothing. Steamers for example can fit 300 people (and I've seen them squeeze more) @ $5 a head that is $1500 through the door. If three bands don't get AT LEAST $400 each THAN TAMARA IS DOING A HELL OF A JOB LINING HER POCKETS WITH THE MONEY THAT MUSICIANS WORK HARD TO EARN. - Fri, 24 Oct 2003 8:58am | ||

| Abuse Of Power User Info... | Truth be known, we played Steamer on the 18th to a capacity house and both us(Abuse Of Power) and Faces Black only got $120.00 each. At $5.00 a head (someone made some coin that night) this was an insult and we'll never play there again. User Info... | what difference does it make if you have someone collecting at the door for 3 bands if in the end you still have the same result? you still have to split the money with the other band(*don't have to, but should) and then you are left to deal with the venue... contract before hand is the best way, in my opinion, to not getting "too" screwed over(mind u, contracts can still be very misleading) - Mon, 27 Oct 2003 10:33am | ||
| Isolation Ride User Info... | When we did gigs in Windsor/Detroit....we were getting $1300 for thurs/fri/sat.Guess what? Joe Shmuk fuck and his band decides to tell the bar owner....we,ll play for cheaper etc.This trend lasted and bred into every band that wanted a gig."undercutting'....Then the owners of bars decide they are going to get entertainment in at a cheaper cost...but at a price.Some guys guitars were not even in tune etc..bars lost money because the shitty acts were so shitty people would leave in the first set.They lost beer sales,...next thing you know,theres a rock club converted into a dance club on every strip.The rock bands could,nt find a place to play anymore.Unite as musicians/bands,and demand fair pay for your performances.Without entertainment,they can,t get their greasy paws on beer sales/tickets etc.Now would,nt you say the ball is in our court and not theirs? oh and P.S Bands make about $500 for a weekend to split now back home.Add up gas/doobs/boobs etc.Not very encouraging for bands to rock on. - Tue, 28 Oct 2003 10:02am | ||
| King Bong User Info... | SweetGrass here, King Bong has played a lot at Steamers and have been treated very well. Great staff and have always been paid what was discussed without a problem. Again I'll say to make sure you know what deal has been arranged with you and all bands playing on the same bill to ensure you are not dissappointed! And how about that crazy kitchen dude!?!
