_Griphin_ User Info... | Outa curiosity, what is everyone playing guitar wise in punk bands?!? I know Lettuce from Betty Ford plays a Gretsch (I think) but what do The Bloody Hells play?!? I was looking at a Fender Jagstang (it's cheap) but I like to explore all possible avenues before investing money. Currently I'm playing an Ibanez. - Sat, 4 Oct 2003 1:16pm
KnifeGhost User Info... | The punkest guitar is the beat up piece of shit you got for $100 bucks (tops) from a sketchy pawn shop..... - Sat, 4 Oct 2003 2:12pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | gutbuckets and banjos, hoss. - Sat, 4 Oct 2003 4:18pm
Nate User Info... | yeah cuz a shitty guitar is definitely a defining part of punk rock...image is definitely what punk rock is all about. *sarcasm*. I say for "punk" play whatever guitar you want, and whatever you think sounds good to you...get that one. - Sat, 4 Oct 2003 6:34pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Sigh... too bad the guitar I want costs a lot of money. Then again, what do I know, I'm just learning the instrument. I've still gotta work on my confidence first :) Seriously though, what guitar do they play?!? - Sat, 4 Oct 2003 10:08pm
eboner User Info... | haha!! 'what kind of guitar do i need to play punk rawk?' HAHAHAHAHA thats just like somebody saying 'how many times a day do i have to cry to be emo?' oh man..jeese.. - Sun, 5 Oct 2003 12:17pm
Dan Conner User Info... | Any guitar you can find. Except for an acoustic. Unless its beat up and ugly. Then you can play folk punk. - Sun, 5 Oct 2003 10:14pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Heh... acoustic punk! :) Seriously though, it has to have a distinct sound, and I've realized that not all guitars can produce that sound. BTW: I thought about buying an acoustic and converting punk over to acoustic. It could work :) - Sun, 5 Oct 2003 11:57pm
Livevic Scott User Info... | It has worked there's several acts that do it, when done well its great. I'm a big fan of Yesterdays Ring who are a folk punk band from Monteral. - Mon, 6 Oct 2003 12:41am
dave User Info... | If you are looking for a different sound. If you get something with weaker pick ups you can get a different sound and like more feedback. I think some of the humbucker style pickups are so hot that they never have a crumbly sound (you know}. Try ot a (single coil)tele vs a jackson to see what i mean. Maybe Im full of shit I don't know. - Mon, 6 Oct 2003 2:34pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Yeah, I've almost paid off this Ibanez, I'd love to replace the pickups in it, but I wanna work with the sound of the guitar to see how I could mutilate it :) It sounds great with distortion, but from a Traynor 10-watt practice amp (there's an overdrive button on it :) Well I'd like to find a f/x pedal which had distortion, delay and a higher end which you could play with so I could tune the Ibanez to sound more fender-ish, but still had a metal-type crunchy sound. I could buy a midi pedal, for about $800 which would do all that, but I'm wondering if the Digital sound would make it sound screwy. Example of guitar sound I want: Citizen Fish, DOA, Betty Ford. - Mon, 6 Oct 2003 6:22pm
