Actually metal in my world is about people playing the living shit out of their instruments as opposed to "death and killing". Sure I don't mind leather and studs but I'm more into the aggression of the music as opposed to "Hail Satan". - Fri, 3 Oct 2003 3:54pm

Just thought I'd write this for all of you who DO see metal as "kill your mother rape your dog":

Ever really listenened to Metal??? I mean, really carefully listened to it???

Try to imagine doing what theyre doing, let's compare Kurt Cobain *or what the fuck ever, the nirvana guy* to, oh fuck it, metallica's James Hetfield.

You look at Kurt, very somber sorta dude, wrecked on dope, playing songs you could probably figure out with not much effort, even to the most novice of people *first song I learned to play was come as you are* , and Kurt will sing of things you understand right off the bat such as heart shaped box or teen spirit, then swing over and lets have a look at james, now he definately sounds alot more pissed off, meny a christian would probably run from him, james is pissed and hyper, his hand moves 30 times faster than kurt's over that guitar and it sounds good enough to sell all those albums still so its not just noise, part 2 is the lyrics, have you actually ever taken the time to read metal lyrics???
Finding kill your mom fuck the dog lyrics can be a bit of a challenge if you don't know where to look like cannibal corpse etc. and as for satan, sure it occours alot more but still is not the majority of metal by a longshot.
Metallica: Master Of Puppets - you people know that that song has nothing to do with puppets and everything to do with cocaine?
...And justice for all - youre not finding any of your metal steryotypes here and its Metallica for christ sake!
Read those lyrics! I personally find In Flames' "Jotun" extremely well written if anyone wants to check that out, but,

Back to Kurt and James:

Imagine these two got togeather, james said lets see that guitar kurt, played In Utero start to back after a few listens and handed the guitar back... kurt tries to do that with even LOAD im sure, youd have james giving kurt a 2 hour guitar lesson. Don't agree with those 2? fine, replace Hetfield with Hammet, but you still see my point.

Now, LISTEN CAREFULLY to all the little notes in various metal songs that fly by you, imagine actually playing what your listening to, imagine how insanely hard it would be compared to playing some matchbox 20 or blink 182 ...

Hell try to play some.

Such a sound allways has something in one form or another, ferocity, and that gives alot of false impressions, you also have to learn whos being serious and whos just exploding.

That is why we all respect metal so much, and could never be turned.

You don't get any more technical than metal, or any heavier. - Sat, 4 Oct 2003 12:56pm
