Harry User Info... | Hey, me and the boys did a few demos with sutherland before we left. They're all first takish off the floor shit, so its not perfect but an idea of where the songs are going. I put one of them up on myspace a while ago. I'm interested in what anyone thinks. http://www.myspace.com/theoctobercrisismusicband - Fri, 10 Oct 2008 1:32pm Edited: Fri, 10 Oct 2008 1:32pm
BBJones User Info... | While it is sounds reasonably well recorded/played, it is not heavy enough to be posted here. Try other areas. And that may be an issue for you overall finding it tough to "fit" anywhere being so "all over the place". The biggest issue I have with this being posted anywhere near a "heavy" thread are the vocals. Way too "mainstream" to even consider saying "heavy" in the same sentence. And really, the music is not heavy at all, it is more some type of hybrid mainstream combo. Nowhere do I get any sense any of you play "agressive" to the point of being "heavy". imo - Sat, 11 Oct 2008 11:53pm Edited: Sat, 11 Oct 2008 11:55pm
harry User Info... | Yeah man. I get what your saying. I think my view of the term "heavy" as it aplies to music is more open, thats all. Not that, that is better or worse, just different. But even then I'm not sure if we'd fit there either. - Mon, 13 Oct 2008 9:23pm
canon.docre User Info... | I hear elements of primus and qotsa. i would say that easily lands it in this forum. i mean, there is a long history of stoner rock and doom with laid back vocals that are heavy as fuck. the whole vocal qualifier thing made me laugh, that's all. brought me back to when I was 13, ALL SCREAMING OR NO LIKEY. - Tue, 14 Oct 2008 5:17pm
kyle User Info... | what about the vocals plants this band in the "mainstream" category? okay, there's no death growls, but i would say that's a fairly narrow minded assessment with very little ground to stand on. i would even say this band, while not as extreme as say, hardcore (surprise surprise, they ain't a hardcore band), would have a hard time appealing to a mainstream audience with the current extremely sad lack of challenging music in the mainstream world- no disrespect here guys. exceptional musicianship all around. i look forward to hearing you play live sometime. - Thu, 16 Oct 2008 1:13am
BBJones User Info... | Wasn't meaning to indicate a "better or worse" comparison so glad you took it for what it was. The rest of these turds can say what they want, I'm of the opinion that Heavy is heavy, not gritty or edgy mainstream. There ia a middle ground between mainstream pop and what exists on the other side and lots of grey areas in between. Trying to force something as diverse as what Octoberdcrisis are doing into one or the other isn't appropriate. As I said already, I think it is going to be difficult for them to "fit" anywhere and I still don't consider it heavy. - Thu, 16 Oct 2008 11:38am
