moron User Info... | Howdy. Being a week after New Year's I hope everyone has recovered enough from their midnight libations to be able to open their eyelids enough to read this callout for the 2007 Noise! Fest. This 6th iteration of our cacaphonous event will be happening in late May here in Victoria, BC, Canada and if you would like to take part now is the time to speak up. For those unfamiliar with the event, the festival is a varied affair focusing on (surprise!) noise based musics and media which includes both videos and performances. Sonically it offers sounds ranging from harsh pedal abuse to software meddling to crazy performance art to outsider freakout and back again. Video material ranges from documentaries to art pieces to performance footage. Together these noisy components make for a deliciously complete assault on the senses. This year we are planning to move to a two day event since one day just cannot contain all the noisy energy. The following link includes pictures and audio from last year's festival (as well as full overview of the event) to give you an idea of what we are all about: noise.industrial.org/2006/ So then. . . .we are looking for both performers *and* video submissions for this 6th iteration of our yearly festival. On the video front we can accept submissions on DVD(-R) in either NTSC or PAL format, or VHS (NTSC only) and if necessary we can cover postage. Due to the nature of the event (i.e. non-sponsored and grass roots) we cannot offer remuneration for the actual showings but we can guarantee an enthusiastic audience. On the performance side we are looking for both local and out of town acts. Slots fill up very fast and while we will do our best to make room for out of towners wanting to take part, you will need to hop on it if you want to be assured of a performance slot. For performers that we are not already familiar with we do need to hear some example material before hand to make sure you will fit in with the intent of the festival (links to MP3s are fine or you can also us a CD / CDR). Also, please keep in mind that this is a 100% DIY effort funded out of our paychecks so no guarantees can be offered beyond a safe place to sleep at our house and a meal if needed. What we can definitely promise however is an appreciative audience, a decent PA and a suitable venue for your noise to be heard. We also will have a merch table setup which will be open to all participants to make use of if they wish. The main festival site will be updated in the near future so keep your eyes peeled for updates: http://industrial.org/noise The final event date will be dictated by venue availability but we are looking at Friday + Saturday on either May 11 / 12 or May 25 / 26. The final dates will be nailed down sometime this month. If you have any questions about the event please drop me a note. Contact: PR Martyr / Noise!
